  1. Good point. I hope we offer Roeder a long term contract this summer otherwise the team will play shit football. blueyes.gif No, wait. What was the other option?
  2. I don't have any problem with this at all. Glad he appears to be signing a new contract, glad he is going to get some competitive experience, and glad that we are clearly confident enough that we will have more than adequate cover in defense after the transfer window to allow him to go.
  3. WTF! http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/news/tm_headline=glenn-has-positive-mental-thoughts-&method=full&objectid=18908428&siteid=50081-name_page.html Dont worry be happy=Roeder's motto :uglystupid2: If Shepherd doesnt sack this c*** he will be here forever playing average football Lucky = Pearson, Happy = Terry Mac I presume. What a f****** fruitcake. http://www.thehappyguy.com/HappyDuck.gif Glenn poses with his coaching staff
  4. He should be running motivational classes. No, wait. Scratch that. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/content/images/2006/09/18/roeder_470x356.jpg Glenn: It sort of drives you mad. Is the world going to come to an end tomorrow? I guarantee it's not. Men in white: Absolutelly Glenn, come along now. Glenn: Take them away from me; I can't stand negativity. Men in white: If you can just pop this pill Glenn it will make things a little easier. Glenn: Surround yourself with the lucky and the happy - that's my motto..... Men in white: Phew. It's taking effect. I think I left that straight jacket on the back seat Dave, now might be a good time...

  6. "The best managers always hit the nail on the head. Obviously, Alex Ferguson. I would have looked to question him on certain games. 'I'd feel in my bones at United what the team might need on a certain day. And I'd have to say he was usually spot on. He came in and gave what was needed. Sometimes we'd need to be relaxed. Sometimes we'd need a bit of a gee-up. Usually, he came in spot-on. I'd be saying to myself, "This is what the team needs." I hope he comes in from that angle." Interesting little insight. I wonder how many, if any, of the players would say the same for Roeder.
  7. It must be true Bobby who?! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premiership/newcastle/article1654892.ece What an condecending know nowt cunt that assbonet Rod Liddle is. That article is fucking sickening. >
  8. I like your optimism over Roeder, but to say SAF could have done no better this season? Oh now come on. we might of gained a couple more points here and there, but are you honestly saying we would be challenging for a champions league or even automatic uefa spot. I would say he would have been more successful in bringing in the players we needed and got the team playing for each other, and as a unit playing closer to it's strengths. God knows where that would have got us, but I have no doubt that we would not sniping at each other and feeling utterly frustrated about the future of the club in the manner that we are under Roeder at the moment.
  9. Just tend to get angry and empty. Errr... 'Happy cry' when we do something good quite often though. Big softy me.
  10. I like your optimism over Roeder, but to say SAF could have done no better this season? Oh now come on.
  11. Woah, that's a little strong surely. Man, I hate it when it gets to this point. Glenn had his 3 year plan or whatever but there really is just no obvious sense in continuing with him and it's just a shite situation again for everyone involved. Let's hope Shepherd gets it right next time, or at least finds someone who the supporters can respect from the start. That might be a good first fucking step. Arrrrg bollocks to 'em.
  12. It baffles me that there are still those voting for him to stay at the club (in any capacity tbh). Come on, give your reasons. Am I missing something?
  13. So what do you sugggest, keep him!!!!! Well, unless we can find someone who is significantly better we should keep him Absolutely. But if you think we cannot attract top managers now, do you think we will be in a better position to attract them after another year of Roeder? Give over man.
  14. The reason why Roeder relegated teams was because he cant motivate players to play, it doesnt matter who he buys in the summer he wont be able to motivate them and we WILL STILL BE sh*t Get away, they are not his players. A few more of his own signings and there'll be raging motivation spilling out all ower the shop.
  15. Straight replacements for the 4 problem players he rattled on about not being able to motivate today then. Oh, and I assume he wasn't including Bramble in that lot considering he wasn't even in the dressing room, or Luque considering his minimal time out there, so I make it 6 out at least and 3-4 in. Blinding. I'm all for streamlining our bloated squad.
  16. Accused three or four at the club of not being motivated enough according to 5 live. Meh.
  17. Man U win their games in hand and they will have more than double our twatting points.
  18. But you admit that the manager has his role - "no doubt driven by SAF". Yes if a lazy bugger is a lazy bugger he is unlikely to change such a fundamental trait (in general people dont change despite what some women seem to think *cough*), but that is something you would hope would be picked up before the player is bought. That said, through direction and motivation, coaching and confidence, a good manager it seems can make a remarkable difference to a players will to win and desire to do the best they can for themselves and the team. You pick up on SAF, and I agree, he has handled Ronaldo brilliantly and he also has a knack of getting his teams to bond brillianty both on and importantly off the pitch and buy into the mentality of the club. His teams fight for each other. Mourinho also gives his players that extra nudge to succeed but maybe slightly differently from Fergie in that his players fight for him rather than the team or the club (which is one of the reasons I think they would be mad to let him go as I can see a number of his team happily following him). Keegan has to be another example closer to home, his players were by no means always the greatest but played to their absolute best and did it consistantly. He was an inspiration. So, err.... yup. I do think a good manager can make the difference in moulding a group of players into a team with a winning mentality. Something we certainly appear to lack under Roeder. ah but the question was about individuals performances not moulding/building a team i'm saying that a manager can influence it if it's there already (ronaldo and fergie for example) but when it's not there it can't be created look at giggs and lee sharpe at manu (ok one was more talented than the other, granted) - both played in the same team under the same manager but one stuck to it and lived a good lifestyle, determined to suceed...the other did not and although lee sharpe was never as talented as giggs i feel it serves as a good example of how big a factor attitude of the individual can have REGARDLESS who the manager was I think that the ability to build winning team is more connected with influencing individuals performances than you suggest. Making them want to play for their manager, the team and the club, I would argue that players can be made to deliver a higher percentage of consistantly good performances, and that it is this ability to get the best out of an individual that actually allows those successful squads to be built. As I said, I recognise that certain strong traits cannot be changed, and a good manager recognises this and gets rid rather that holding out the hope that they can be changed (less than easy if you bought that player in the first place I grant you). But in some cases I'm sure players can be made to excell where they haven't before, and possibly this isn't just through playing players in their most effectiver positions, or drilling a game plan into them in training, it is also about managing their attitudes. Given the right managers inspiration, direction and coaching, I believe a player will put in better performances. There are loads of factors, but if we forget everything else, I'd still wager that SAF would still be getting more out of Ronaldo than we might have seen had Souness been his manager.

  20. It is easy to disagree, Redknapp is full of s*** as usual. Anybody who thinks we have "great" players is talking out of their arse. With only one proper striker all season long it's hardly a surprise we are where we are in the league. Not for me, as a group of players they should haver performed a damn sight better this season. And as for, "They should be right up there for what they have paid out", well sorry but he is right, the club has wasted stupid amounts of money over the years. Which of course anyone can see has nowt to do with Roeder. As a group of players they've performed like a team with only one proper striker, a player learning the ropes in a new league who hasn't had a quality partner alongside him at any stage at all. You are over-rating the players in my opinion. Mmm, not so sure. I think due to some of the dross we have had to put up with there has been a tendency if anything to be over critical of the player’s abilities. The squad is not 'shit bar one or two' as some people like to state, and talk of a mass clearout is just crazy. We can all agree that the holes in the squad have hamstrung our ability to score or defend as well as we would have liked and that this has clearly had a knock on effect on our confidence, but I would say that the managers inability to utilise the strengths that remain (whether that be through his selections, tactics, subs or whatever) has dented the players confidence and effectiveness a whole lot more. The team have been playing below their best too often and have surrendered games all too easily on more than just the odd occasion this season, and a lot of the responsibility for that rests with Roeder. He has failed to work with 'someone else's squad' and has failed to plug the obvious gaps with his own buys. However much I dislike the slack jowled basset and hope we tear his team a new arsehole this afternoon, his point sticks. Maybe it will work for us and wind Glenn and the lads up (jaysus I hope so), but these attacks on our manager can become a little embarrassing when there is little to find out there to defend the bloke.

  22. Well that is just farking ridiculous. Might as well give up and jack it all in if that's the case. Nobody better than Roeder can be persuaded to manage Newcastle? My arse.
