Hate to say it but I think you are in a classic downward spiral of crippling pessimism, bolstered by often plausible but ultimately false realities that I fear you believe are all too real in their consequences. You are at a stage now where I sadly fear there is no escape from your Pardew focussed dysphoric state as this forum just provides ample opportunity to maintain depression through constant defeatist re-enforcement and excessive rumination.

the point for me is balance, if you go all out attack every game and win enough then fine you'll get on like keegan did but to go all out defend and not win you'll fail like pardew does one of my favourite ever CL games was ac milan vs. juventus which ended 0-0...it was a defensive masterclass from both teams but we're not even seeing defensive masterclasses...we're a fucking shambles Pardew is being shit, I know. I just wouldn't expect Poyet to be great shakes in terms of having a go at teams (nor provide a Milan/Juve defensive masterclass for that matter). Plus he whines. My God does he whine. /not bitter in the slightest.

this, is there honestly still anyone on here who doesn't believe he deserves the sack based purely on his performance over the last year? i know brett is one but is there anyone else? would love to see a poll like I can think of 3 who? inochi, ian w, brett? i don't think ian w and inochi would keep the fella like they just seem to revel in being contrary (might be wrong)....someone else is a bit pro-pards, happy face? By the way his performances from last season do deserve the sack just for the record, but i've just always maintained i wouldn't trust Ashley to hire someone to make me happy if he was ditched. Onnce decision was made to keep him, i decided to give him another season and another chance. So actually i do think in general Pardew's performances from last season should have earned him the sack under normal circumstances, but this club hasn’t got normal circumstances Talk about a contradiction of a post. If you are happy with a bloke you think should have been sacked , what difference does it make who is appointed? Because there's a difference, if i was a Spurs fan i'd have wanted Harry Redknapp sacked and AVB brought in, however i wouldn't have wanted Redknapp sacked if they weren't looking to upgrade. In our case we wouldn't be looking to upgrade, it would be someone like/deffo JFK, so i'd rather stick? I think you would be hard pressed to find a manager worse than Pardew tbh . I've actually named our next manager in my post if Pardew gets fired so i wouldn't say i'm hard pressed. Poyet is available. He'd not cost much, would work under Ashley's constraints I reckon, and can definitely produce better football than Pardew. He'll have to have a change of brain then. Poyet is prone to play very much safety first, even at home. Did the Brighton fans not rate him then? Someone posted a link to one of their forums and they seemed happy enough. I think generally very happy with him till he threw his toys out the pram over finances. The style was decent, he looked to be trying to build things at a clubs that had been in the shit, and they achieved a fair bit relatively. But but that doesn't mean his football was always enjoyable. He was often conservative, not go for the win before securing a draw, dropping his wingers just to try to negate the other team, something he'd no doubt get hammered for on here. Wouldn't want him near the club personally, but maybe I'm a little biased.

The womans team were struggling a bit so I'm guessing this is very welcome news. Fair play.

Exciting times.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

I think this idea that a team doesn't play their best player because he might get injured is a bit overplayed. If PSG or Arsenal really want him, they'll buy him, whether he plays and gets a knock, or gets a red and is out for 3 games. Hell, we took on Remy with a buggered legs, and he's only here for a short while. It is rare that a player will pick up a serious injury that will keep them out for several months in the game just before his move, but the chance is there. So why risk it? I think it's simply more of an issue for the player wanting the move than the selling club, or the buying club. In this case I'd suggest that Cabaye has more reasons to step out of training and games, than the club itself choosing to sideline their vice captain. -

He should at least be training, whether or not his head is right for games. He doesn't even appear to be doing that as far as we can tell. -
Whey, not until he moves to OM on a free. Awesome news.

Newcastle United vs West Ham United - Sat 24th August @ 3pm (not on TV)

That happens with everyone who deserves a good welcome when they come back for the first time. I was the only one I know of who was crying. Fkn'ell. -
It seems to come down to wages mainly. You can't increase your wage budget over a certain amount per season, I think it's roughly £4m according to Gold for West Ham. This doesn't affect you if you're a club with a tiny budget, then you can go up to something like a £50m ceiling any time you like (for when you get promoted etc). This means a club can spend any money they like on transfers as long as the wage bill isn't increased significantly. Therefore Real can spaff as much money on buying Bale as is necessary, they just need to make sure they clear space in their wage budget for him. It should work because it effectively limits a club from bringing in a ton of players without losing a few in the proccess. The downside seems to be that it is based on where you stand currently. For instance, we couldn't go out and and match City's wage bill, we're stuck where we are now relative to them. /Disclaimer - That's my undertanding of it at least. Could be bollocks.

Fkn 'game plan'. Sounds like the 'game plan' is to fuck off to the south of France and hide until the window slams shut.

It'll be subjective from club to club in fairness. But surely a club that averages a finish of 8th is worth more than the same club 5 years later that averages a 14th place finish Why? If we have the stadium and infrastructure in place, and have a squad that apparently should be aiming for top 6-8 with a half decent manager, why would it matter to a new owner if we came 16th last year or what we averaged in the past?
