Yep because he needed to build a squad and quickly. He's done that, and now needs to add some finishing touches, Owen being that. If you keep him fit you'd be right amongst the big boys for the rest of the season and seasons to follow, £15m would seem like a bargain. Lot of IFS though. Only the one if...and I think its too big an if for £15m. Still feel Sven would think he could get someone better (Or someone who could string a few games together) for that much money. Probably someone I've never heard of. Just can't see it. If the fee was lower tho, who knows. If the story is true. If we wants to sell him. If he wants to leave. If you are ready to pay £15m. If Taskin is ready to fork out that kind of money. If he stays fit. If Citeh maintain form. What i meant by a lot of IFS, biggest one being keeping him fit, and the IF is the reason i'd happily take anything north of £10m for him. Its a shame as moments like against everton you remember who he was and still could be, but its just never going to happen, not here it isn't, a move would be best for everyone.

Like the idea of this lad, just as i thought we were doing the right thing for Zoggy. Were obviously lacking, not just as a club, but as a country, in certain types of players. We must go and rob a few smaller clubs of their young if we are to build a better future. I also think there's a lot to be said on taking a chance on younger players currently in our Country at lower levels. We need to set some money aside for a few gambles imo.

Did someone mention shoes off?

Reserves beat Wigan 3-1; Barton scores and plays well

There's no excuse for ignorance tbf, rules are there, read them. -
Of course he is. He may not be Premiership standard but teams in the Championship would pay good money for him. Injured all season, contract runs out at the end of it, would you pay money for him? Fair point. Know we arent a charity but as poor as he is at Premiership standard he has never shirked anything. Hope we look after him (contract wise while he recovers). Not suggesting we sign him on for an extended period. Think he is worth a few quid in the Championship though. Certainly, if he'd had gone in the summer like he maybe should of we could of fetched a good price for him. £500k at least with addons. As it stands though he's worth nothing, and i cant see us retaining him after this. Wish him well for the future, and did a job for us at times.

On now, Sky 1. Just wow, read about this during the last world cup, these people really are nuts. PS: Mods move to GC if its not appropriate in here.

His age and because he's English tbh. Yep. I'd safely say we'd get £7m all day for him from a prem team if we wanted to sell him. I think we could get more than that, Davies went to Villa for more and I rate Taylor higher than I do him. One of the reasons I'd cash in on him. I reckon so as well, but i'd never get out of the thread alive if i said £10m.

Ramage is injured all season, and his contract runs out at the end of it, so no, he's worth fuk all.
-
Maybe, but injuries and bagging means again i can only go on what i thought of him before we bought him.

I'd pretty much go along with those values as their actual values. However there are some players there you'd have to stick a few mill on for me to be tempted to sell. Enrique for example, I wouldn't sell for under 9 million. I think we've got a bargain. Hopefully, but i've got no idea of his worth due to the limited amount i've seen him. Can't really put a price on him apart from what we've paid.

I'll play (although i guess this thread will be full of people criticizing and too afraid to put their own value (opinion) forward) Given £8m Harper £500k Carr £0 Babayaro £0 Enrique £6m Ramage £0 Taylor £7m Rozenhal £3m Beye £2.5m Feye £1.5m Geremi £2m Smith £5m Emre £4m Zoggy £9m Pattison £500k Milner £5m Barton £5m Duff £5m Butt £0 Viduka £1m Ameobi £1.5m Owen £9m Martins £12m

I don't think we can rely on Emre's fitness so I'd still get an attacking central mf in with a strong creative component to his game. Right winger would be nice. Sell a few more wasters if poss. Would love to see Carr & Babayaro released from the club, it would almost be a signing in itself, a replacement would be magical. Said it all last year, but will say it again, but i hope NUFC would take a chance on some English youth from the lower leagues, bring them in as cheap back up with a potential to be decent players. LB, RB & RW would be great to get some bodies in to help relieve any future worries about injuries and possibly provide a brighter future. We've brought in some decent defenders over the summer, but excluding Enrique they aren't going to last long or sell well in the future.
-
It really depends on how effective Barton becomes and if Emre can get fit and provide some good form. If either or both don't do it then we must look there for new players. Milner needs someone to challenge him, but so does Enrique so we can keep the Zog on the wing and not in defense.
-
I get what you are saying, and i think all the points are fairly debatable, i just think give him a run of games and he'd be back on top form in no time, and we'd be looking a bit daft for questioning him. If this form continues, maybe then those points really need answering, but i'm willing to give him time, he's about to peak for starters, he's been shaky before, ironically last time when Harper was getting into the team, so i just think its either confidence or a poor spell, or maybe both, either way i expect him to pull himself round and some point.

I see SA still not talking to the BBC
-
Robinson cant keep a hold of the fuking ball. Utter wank bastard needs booting out of the England team asap.
-
I was having a sly dig at SA more than anything. Seems he think Zoggy can go down the right for some reason!
-
Given couldn't possibly be surprised or upset if he were to be dropped for the next game.
-
Say anything interesting?? He can't wait to play for England.

Pie. Milner is average and the sooner we replace him in the starting 11 the better. Could be said for a lot of the team. Especially when its people saying "well he wouldn't get into a top 4 side". In this order: (on age, wage, availability & ability) 1st Babayaro Carr Pattison Ramage Ameobi Emre Smith Butt Owen Duff Viduka Harper Last Needs sold and replacing before we even think about getting rid of Milner. [ If all that has gone, and been replaced with better, then yes, lets look at selling him and replacing him with someone better. Until then, lets support the lad who a decent player, and will only get better. The majority of those are not going to be in the starting 11 when everyone is fit, I'd rather concentrate on improving that rather than getting rid of squad players as that won't improve us as much. Out of our starting 11 when everyone is fit Milner will first choice down the right and is the one we should improve on first. We need another right winger, if we play 442. I get what you are saying, but we need a squad now, too much time and energy focusing on certain positions have got us nowhere in the past, with our luck with injuries, we need a squad before buying talented individuals, and in that we do need someone to challenge Milner, someone with pace, so we have a good option in that position. Milner isn't holding us back, injuries and poor formations are holding us back right now. We saw what Milner was like under souness, who basically brought him on and told him to play, we saw what he was like under better guidance on loan, in a settled position, and then back here in a settled position. He's playing majority on the left this season. I'd imaging Zoggy wouldn't be anything special if he was played on the right. Were quick to forgive Zoggy for blunders, poor positioning and marking as he's not a defender, well big news is, Milner isn't a left winger! Back on the right, bit of competition, in a 442, and Milner is a huge asset to the club. Right now he's helping out the team doing his best in a position thats not his own, some players kick off and hand in their transfer request when asked to do that, he's does what he's told. I think a point in there was proven rather well today.
