    Toon Ultras

f*** off man. I guess you would rather watch in silence? Well done to the Toon Ultras. As highlighted by everyone else "Ultras" ain't what you should be associating yourself with IMO way too much negativity around that word. True,if you went to Italy or somewhere with a name like that you'd probably not come back. Cant really think of another catchy name though really, but i will try and think Everything I think off is cheesy. As far as I know though the Ultra's aint interested in changing their name. What are their reasons for not wanting to change? I presume they realise the negative connotations. If you google Ultra Hooligan you get a link to Blog on the tyne BBTN btw. toon ultras is our name if people dont like it so fuck! why should we change, if so called fans wont join us because we have ultras in our name then how sad are they? The four core points of the ultra mentality are: never stop singing or chanting during a match, no matter what the result never sit down during a match attend as many games as possible (home and away), regardless of cost or distance loyalty to the stand in which the group is located that sounds like us Jesus wept, who let you out?
  6. Basically I agree with this. He will be away at the end of the season anyway once we've gone down. Isn't he like one of the most expensive goalkeeper transfers ever? Prem record isn't it? When fully paid up it will be the Premiership record. I believe Barthez currently is at around £8.5M I don't think you are going down.
  7. Gordon has looked very good in Scotland. Barry Ferguson looked world class in Scotland. Even Boumsong looked like a competent defender in Scotland. They've certainly got themselves a good keeper either way, but still paid a daft fortune for a player in the last year of his contract. TBF Boumsong looked decent his first half season here. Not he didn't. He got skinned by a part timer in his debut and never got any better. You've got a rather selective memory. We had a number on these boards nominating him for captain. While he wasn't worth anything close to 8m. He was decent. Its spot on cheers mate. He was shit from the off and made lots of errors which people (including myself as i wanted to believe) brushed off as teething problems. When it then dawned on us we've been mugged and the stands stopped shouting 'boom' every time the cunt went near the ball he became even worse as he knew he'd be found out by just about everyone. He even started making Titus Bramble look good.

They've certainly got themselves a good keeper either way, but still paid a daft fortune for a player in the last year of his contract. It's a bit different for goalkeepers and outfield players making the step up from a lower quality league. There's a much bigger risk with an outfield player imo. I'm confident that Gordon will be an excellent keeper even if they have paid a bit too much. Maybe so, but when you've got 3rd rate strikers at you most games and only have to step up when on NT duty or for 6 games a season its a lot different to facing world class or even just very good EPL players every game. He's a good keeper, i just think the price tag is mental, and he's nowhere near the quality some people are making out. I'd say there are a good 5-6 keepers in the league better than him, but he's young, and he'll get better and probably move on to a bigger club by this time next year if these people hyping him so much are right. I think Arsenal should of went for him, but the price again no one would pay unless you are seriously desperate.

  11. 8 years since he sent off Shearer?
  12. Roy Keane? Walking not wanking mate.
  13. Sharp needs to settle into a division above, but no doubt the talent is there, Beattie needs to regain some form, together they could be deadly, i think they are coming straight back up if them two stay fit. 50 league goals between the two at least if they play 80% of the games.
  14. 'Bring back the noise'....a.k.a Toon Ultras. 2 of our older members are going to get suited up and try and organise some sort of meeting, please don't mock us, we're trying to move onwards and upwards and make our ambitions known to you so that we can all make St James' a better place to be. Besides, the more votes in our favour, and quotes we can use, the more stastistical information we have to combat arguments made against a singing section. Hopefully the 1st thing on the agenda in that meeting is a name change. Why you picked 'Ultras' is beyond me. If you are really serious about this then now is the time to start afresh, make singing enjoyable and accessible to all. How many people in the ground know all the songs you sing? I bet there are a fair few who haven't got a clue, get a song book written, even if its just online for now, would be great if you could do a leaflet drive, especially if you've got new songs for our new players, board and manager. Don't know the logistics of such a grand plan or costs, but i'm sure you'd get some sponsors to help out for the cost of printing, it should be cheap if its plain white paper with just a few verses on. Anyway off the beaten track, any drive to bring back singing really needs the effort now, new era, hopefully something to sing about, start as we mean to go on, get the noise up, the players up, and hopefully both stay there. Still need a fuking name change though, terrible decision.
  15. Beattie & Sharp upfront, they'll be lethal in the Championship next season. Beattie isn't as bad as people make out, he just needs a move to get his career going again.

    Kieron Dyer

nufcblog, its like a one poster forum that place! Gets on newsnow quite a bit though, i do tend to read most of what he's says as well, but he should come and join us and talk to others.
  17. I can't believe people are hanging about waiting for Roeder to speak while for the last year no one has bothered listening to a word he's spoken. Who cares what he has to say? As long as he's in good health and enjoying his free time i couldn't give a monkey and a hippo what he has to say about us, his time here, or the new regime. It will be boring, passive at best, and no doubt he'll wish us good luck.
  18. Considering he's a goalkeeper it has to rank in the top 3 like.

    Damn, well slow here!
  20. £5m!!! Wow. He is a pile of crap too. Makes Chopra look cheap.
  21. Isaksson is very very average, but the prices talked about for Gordon are mental.

    Lawro is back

As much as I dislike spuds, the above is one of the most amusing assessments of a footballer I've had the misfortune of reading. Ash is a 14 year old gooner. Ah explains a lot. Ash is 17, and there's nothing to suggest by what he posts that he goes on like a young divvy, just a Arsenal fan who doesn't quite like the Spuds best striker, perfectly normal and acceptable behaviour.
  23. I'll be happy with a point. Totally unready for the start of the season, its great we've got a flurry of players in, shame we had a 3 week gap or we'd be sorted. But the injuries are already piling up, no Given is bad news.
