  1. If we do lose Jose then its a no brainer to go for Van Aanholt imo. Looks a very good prospect.
  2. Theres no way he will go down to the Championship. He's probably gonna end a Premiership medal and possibly a Champions League medal so his ego will take a nice little boost there just with them despite contributing next to fuck all. I could definitely see him going to a promoted club where he would be the main man if they offered him massive money, but he'd sooner retire with 2 of the best medals you can win rather than drop down to the level he maybe should be playing at now. Its clear he doesn't care about playing football anymore since his international career is over. Its all about the money and being at Manure for him now. I wonder if he's still on good terms with Shearer after he dropped him. Its a petty thing to fall out with someone over, but I can only imagine the horror he felt after he got dropped from out relegation threatened team of no hopers at Anfield a couple of years ago. They seemed quite close before that, but since then ive never heard either of them mention each other or seem anything in papers or whatever of them out in public or at any charity functions. Unless im missing something it seems Michael didn't like that at all.
  3. Wonder if Pardew was on about Coloccini when mentioning new contracts. He named the obvious 3 contracts they are trying to sort out then said he had others but won't name them. Think Colo, Jonas and Simpson have 2 years left. Hopefully he's not on about the people with only one year left other than the obvious. Theres Shola, R.Taylor (i think), Guthrie, Lovenkrands and Smith. Also got Kadar and Best with a couple of year left as well going by nufc.com
  4. If QPR aren't punished I could definitely see him going there with a decent wage and being a big fish, albeit a dead one.
  5. He had one good season at Carlisle I seem to remember. I think that was before he signed for Hull. Banged them in and you could see the class in some of his goals just watching highlights. Was brilliant at Leeds though. Shame.
  6. Harper could be out for the season.
  7. Harper might need a knee operation

He might not even play again this season though, they probably don't want to build up any pressure on his comeback. Once a big thing is made that he's back in training then it'll start putting pressure on to put him back in early if we have a bad couple of weeks.
  9. No I can't see it because I and probably most others thought that we had stability under Hughton and there was absolutely no need to change managers, then all of a sudden Ashley decided he was bored and decided it was time to piss the fans off again. I don't think he actually wants stability.
  10. Great news, absolutely HUGE in fact. It ties a top class player down long term, shows a statement of intent to our other players (I certainly think this will be enough to convince Barton), and it protects us if other teams coming now because they'd have to pay top, top dollar now.
  11. Can't leave this one until the summer like. If we manage to win our next two home matches then that is really the time to go up to him when we know we will be safe, and give ourselves time to persuade him to stay. We should really push the boat out to keep him, he is one hell of a left back.
  12. I just think that if we could somehow get £8m for him and taking into account he's probably on £40,000 a week, we could probably get 2 players as effective as him if we shopped around for not much more money that we would get for him.
  13. I think he's been one of our weakest performers this season. Out of the first team regulars I'd say Simpson, Colo, Enrique, Barton, Tiote, Nolan, Carroll and probably Williamson as well have all been consistenly better.
  14. I can't believe anyone would turn down £8m for him. Don't believe the rumour at all, but that would be brilliant money for a winger who can't cross. I'm be more than happy if he went for that sort of money in the summer then we could replace him. Although I don't know what to expect with Pardew in the transfer market in the summer, I certainly think he could get a more effective left winger for cheaper than that.

    Season Tickets

The bloke with the column in The Sunday Sun came up with a ridiculous article yesterday saying that the £35m Carroll money shouldn't be invested in new players, but in making tickets £15 adults, £5 kids as a reward for fans Fuck sake, I'll happily pay my money and id by happy to pay a bit extra if that £35m was going to be invested in good players.
  16. Some of you lot must must have took your lass on the Jeremy Kyle show by now to take a lie detector.
  17. What the hell is wrong with some people on this board? He is gone because he said Carroll got a much better contract at Liverpool? Hes stating a very obvious fact. He's not hinting anything there, the facts are there for all to see. We wouldnt get 1/3 of the price we got for Enrique, and he wouldn't get anywhere near Carroll's wages, meaning we wouldnt be half as tempted to sell, and he wouldnt be half as tempted to leave for a big contract. I'm sure he'd happily take £40,000 a week.
  18. Its fucking annoying me that Chelsea and Liverpool didnt let one striker go until they knew they had another coming in, yet Newcastle failed again. I don't blame us for not spunking millions on a striker worth only half the price, but surely we should have been looking to bring in a striker anyway without Carroll leaving. Sturridge would have been a great loan signing.

Can't believe people are so critical of him at his age and write him off. The fact is he's nowhere near ready yet and shouldnt be near the team. A year or two out on loan could be the making of him. He might turn out to be a good Premiership striker. He has potential but he's got to improve his attitude.
  20. Absolute crap comparison from Fat Fred there with regards to him turning down Liverpools offer for Shearer. I take it he's on about when they offered 3m for him in the summer of 2003 I think it was. Apart from £3m being a world away from £35m (even at Shearers age), he was our captain and was in the goalscoring form of his life still so of course £3m isnt anywhere near as tempting as £35m for a 22 year old with half a seasons Premiership experience. He's just loosely using a fact that he turned down an offer for Shearer as if he turned down huge money for him at his peak.
  21. Why didn't he ask for that in October then? You can't justify almost trebling his wages on the back of a dozen games. He wouldnt have asked for such an increase though if it wasnt for what Liverpool were offering. He's obviously gonna think to himself 'if Liverpool value me at that much, then Newcastle should value me higher' as well. Its unfortunate, but I think most footballers (and most people tbf) would expect a contract improvement if someone comes in offering such money for him. I don't think many businesses could justify blocking someone from moving elsewhere where they are gonna treble their wages, and not at least double their salary to a level which competed with that offer.
  22. Is £80,000 per week not the going rate for a player who will probably get you 20 goals a season and with that much ability though?
  23. He will end up being loved by them but he might struggle at first. I don't expect him to return to the outstanding form he shown for us this season when he first returns from injury and if he is rusty for a few weeks they might start to wonder what they've bought, but I've no doubt he'll be top class for them.
