Just been told Keane will be walking this afternoon. Don't shoot the messenger if it proves to be wrong.

While the reaction of Drogba to having coins thrown at him cannot be excused or defended , the speed with which the FA deal with player's indiscretions makes a mockery of their lenient approach to clubs whose fans cannot be controlled within their stadiums. The recent and repeated crowd problems at the Stadium of Light where opposition players and fans are pelted with sharpened coins and fans are allowed to invade the playing area and confront opposition players freely, have once again been largely ignored by both the FA and the club itself. Indeed their manager almost condoned the behaviour immediately after the event. Credit where due to the Newcastle player who was on the receiving end of most of the coin throwing for not reacting as Drogba or Carragher did, but until the FA come down hard on the clubs whose fans do this regularly then occasionsly players will react when provoked.

I thought he made some very risky and expensive signings during the close season. It's obvious all is not well st the SoL right now.
-
Any pitch invasions or opposition players threatened today, or was the crowd too low ?
-
Just seen the mackem's attendance. Has someone organised a boycott of the SOL in protest at Keane letting Chopra go or something ?

I think natural evolution will have to take place in our goalkeeper pecking order. Both Foster and Krul have made excellent progress and must be given a chance at some stage. We have been lucky to have keepers like Given and Harper in the club, but considering ages, salaries and transfer values it may well be time for one of them to go and one of the younger kids to become second choice.

And it seems that players in their team like to booze and party here too. Sometimes until the early hours before a big game.

Financial Times - WHAT WAS BARTON'S ROLE IN ICELANDIC BANKING COLLAPSE ?
-
"After receiving no punishment from the FA this week for doing absolutely nothing, Joey Barton may be hiding weapons of mass destruction in his Tyneside home and could face a possible UN resolution and sanctions". I invite anyone to come up with a better JB shock horror sensation which could then be plagiarized by those fine fellows in Her Majesty's Press to save them the bother of writing any real news. BTW we've already had :- CENTRAL MIDFIELDER TACKLES OPPONENT - SHOCK HORROR FOOTBALLER KISSES BADGE - SENSATION ! JOEY BARTON ATE MY HAMSTER and JOEY BARTON IN NAZI THEMED CALL GIRL ORGY - EXCLUSIVE

I know Roy Keane got charged for improper behaviour at Chelsea, but have the mackems got away scot-free once again after allowing their fans to invade the pitch, confront opposition players and also taking cash payments for already full, ticket-only sections ?

a resteraunteur in Beaconsfield apparently. Guy Bradley, 37, was outraged after watching a different camera angle of the bust-up on Setantas Football Matters. The restaurateur, of Beaconsfield, Bucks, said: You can see Barton saying something and it looks like hes saying big lips. If this is true I think he should be out of the game for good. Enough impartial evidence there to have him hung tbh, bye bye Joey. I just spoke to someone in Beaconsfield who said he lip read someone in the town and believes he was saying that he got a rotten dose of food poisining after eating in Mr.Bradley's establishment.

The Magedia Thread - Sunderland suck trollolololol
Benwell Lad replied to Rocker's topic in Football
After failing in a desperate attempt to make something out of nothing with the hand flick, it's amazing that they are now scraping the barrel in a desperate attempt to make a story about Barton. Jeff Brown on BBC Look North devoted most of his Newcastle/Villa report to yesterday's Barton non-story 3 hours after the FA had dismissed it as nothing. Can we expect another muck raking attempt to make a story this evening ? -

Don't think so. Thats why they're given away free everywhere nowadays to make their ABC figures high to potential advertisers. -

Barton Baiting - the favourite pastime of lazy hacks, TV pundits and now washed up dunce referees. The FA should be protecting Barton as he is facing extraordinary levels of provocation and intimidation from opposition players who seem to want to be "the one" who gets him to bite. The lengths Setanta TV and certain journalists and reporters went to in an attempt to make a story out of nothing was quite disgraceful. -

think they've spent wasted a lot more than that Just corrected it by putting an M behind the £80.
-
Lets face it being above the mackems isn't really anything to shout about. But being above the mackems when they've spent £80M on players, have a "top" manager and are on the crest of a wave, while the world of Newcastle United supposedly lies in ruins, is just plain funny.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/3331234/Newcastle-United-see-off-Aston-Villa-thanks-to-Obafemi-Martins-double--Football.html Henry Winter doesnt even mention the incident. He does. But in the objective and level headed manner you'd expect from a good journalist. His line "Pride in the shirt, hunger in the tackle and touches of flair are all the Toon Army ask for and Kinnear’s players delivered" illustrates his knowledge of Newcastle and their fans.

Lets not get carried away, the fact that Nicky Butt was our best option to take a freekick is a worry on it's own tbh. To be fair to Butt, I've seen him take two free-kicks for us since he arrived. One he hit the bar at Arsenal last season, last night he hit the post. Can't be that bad! So still room for improvement then.
