His control receiving the ball while on the break, late on at pace was a thing of beauty. His nutmeg and skills not long after was even better. Real shame he isn't a few years younger but we wouldnt have got the same player. The Madrid move took him to a new level. For me he is one of the classiest players we have had. As @huss9 highlighted, he just gets it and it's not just playing the game it's honest. Tripps is up there with the likes of Speed for leadership skills on and off the pitch. Hope we keep him here on staff for years to come. A young RB successor will likely come in January or next summer but I expect there are few better and more giving to learn from.

Like so many others in this squad, we are finally starting to see him realise some of that potential. Still sometimes the silly mistake and misplaced pass but some of his box to box play today was world class.

Things are just working for him right now. He is confident and the players around him are too, everything is clicking well. He just never stops though, MOTM for me today. That tracking back and tackle late on in the game sums him up at the moment. Relentless. So glad we are finally seeing the Almiron I saw in the MLS. There is still more to come imo, not least as we keep adding to the quality of this squad.

Do we think Howe will be giving World Cup players time off to recover? Could be an issue going into the Christmas fixtures and out the other side. Would be good if we have a couple of players lined up to come in as soon as the window opens. At this point it is likely the players coming in would also have played at the WC though. The final is 8 days before we play Leicester so maybe that is enough?

If I was drinking milk I would have snorted and spat it out everywhere. His time is likely nearly up though. We will sign another winger in January and he will be further limited for minutes. Great to see things so close to working for him. He has been great the past month or so.

No longer said with any hesitation or embarrassment.. I fucking love this team. It has been a long time. The squad, the staff, the management structure, it has all brought the fans back together and given us our club back. We have been on that journey a year now but today was another landmark for me! Long may this continue. If we can keep it going into the break and supplement the squad with another couple of high quality signings in January I think we can really push top 7. We need luck with injuries and more but this squad and management are working wonders.
