Either its a foul/illegal or it isnt. Grey areas are the worst. It wasn't enough to realistically bring him down imo but thats a moot point. If its illegal to pull n opposition players shirt then it has to be a foul everytime. -

Some upside. Woltemade, Hall, Tonali, Murphy, Tino, the back three and Pope. Damned if we can find a final ball or pass though. Still a real issue. Willock was ok but doesnt offer much. Literally forgot Miley was playing! Doesn't mean he wasn't doing his job well though. -
I agree with @Stifler in the sense whomever we hire has to not only be someone wanting to be here for at least for the next 5-10 years but they will be here at least the next 5. With someone like Giles you would hope as a fan would want the job for life. We cant afford another stop gap. I think Eddie has big input this time and I think the pressure is on to get the right hire after the last couple of years.

Tbf like almost everything at our club, its hard to know exactly what the hell is going on behind the scenes. Maybe he is and Marinakas is making it difficult or holding his family as collateral in a safe house somewhere? Maybe we haven't even made an approach yet lol. All that said, wasn't it reported in late spring we interviewed Ayto and him or am I confusing that with Hopkins position and interviews?
-
Aye. Still can't believe we got Nick. Ekitike probably would have hit the ground running with us too and been a more direct Isak replacement but Woltemade is such a unique striker and seems like a great character. Wouldn't be shocked if we are back for JSL if Wolves go down. That might well mean he didnt have a great season though and there also might be better options though by next summer.

Don't remember seeing another club linked but definitely saw some journo saying the Forest owner was very hopeful and going to try his best to get him to stay, paying him more. Journo likened it to the Morgan Gibbs White situation. Could be why progress is slow, but the again thats also how we roll most of the time!

Nice quotes on Eddie wanting a DOF in pronto, amidst the usual high brass snails pace and silence appointing people. https://www.newcastleworld.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/newcastle-united-news-sporting-director-appointment-5323691 This quote was a bit telling too “I had a very good relationship with Dan Ashworth, a very good relationship with Richard Hughes at Bournemouth for many years, so we need the position filled but ideally with the right man, the man that can lead the club forward in many different ways and to a very successful era. So no, I'm fully supportive of the position."

Uninspiring appointment to begin with imo. Whats the fan reaction? I'd imagine there are a portion pissed about losing Nuno to begin with. Ange isn't a step up imo.
-
Relegation is one I would imagine for sure. Wouldn't expect us to be in for him either way until next summer if we return for him. Unless we have major issues with Wissa and Woltemade.

They looked incredible in possession in that second half. We simply couldn't get near them and if we tried the ref would oblige in blowing the whistle for potential personal space bubble encroachment. Was impressed with them though. Proper "professional performance"

Going to be a really nice addition. Only a matter of time before Botman and Thiaw forge their CB partnership.
-
Quicker than little Joe retains his form!
-
Aye. Looked classy. A nice bonus.

Passing, moving, dribbling, shooting etc. We know where we are at, we just hope for more of what we know we are capable of on our day. Just cant happen consistently still, at least with our squad. We have improved but not enough. Need Wissa to be fit ASAP. Murphy should be automatically starting still. Close but not close enough today.

Crossed wires? Think he was talking about last time we were in the CL and Lascelles playing being a curveball, not this year.
-
We haven't been in this position under the new ownership yet. Interested to see how ruthless they will be in this regard. I feel like they will want to continue to back Becky but for how long when there is so much on the line. The next manager has to be a big appointment too. How long is Nobbs out for? She will be a big addition.

Think with bringing in Hopkinson and hopefully Ross as allies, combined with having a squad and project he is right in the middle of will trump all the money they will try to bribe him with. I would be shocked like.
-
So we are all pretty confident Wor Eddie won't touch this Manure mess with a bargepole when they come calling right?
-
Definitely up for it

"Full stretch" Quality. That said he would get some shit it he didnt get something on it too.
-
Some of the short easy passes are shocking here from both sides.

Hands up. All justified criticism to my knee jerking. I've put him on an unrealistic pedestal for consistency of what we know he is capable of. I stand by the jogging/walking back comments this season and hoping he cuts out the dramatics and gets on with the game when the ball is in play. But the latter is who he is ansld the former likely doesn’t take into consideration the running he has done prior to those gassed moments and that I am a moron. Also doesn’t help seeing Tonali being next to him with superhuman stamina and endurance through 90 mins and to an extent Joelinton.
