Might have said the same about Anita tbf.

With marveaux off and Hatem, Obertan, ferguson and Jonas close behind we need a winger, no doubt about that. Fact he is versatile just acts as a huge bonus. Still, looks like he was the backup option to Janmaat, be surprised and delighted if we got him.

Bugger Isla would have been a fantastic addition. A quality winger that can double at RB. Boooooo Why strange mole? We need another winger and he covers other areas. On strange part is the quoted fee. Wonder if he was the backup option to Tiote, like Arevalo.

Maybe. Don't know where I stand on that though. Both Fergie and to a point Sammy showed lots of promise too but were stunted by staying here. He has time on his side.

Don't worry Iron Mike will return to full fitness to keep Saylor and that bad band man Mapou away from the first team. -
20 goals-a-season striker here he comes... We need another pacey, skillful winger tbf. Was hoping we would get Payet though. :'(

Pedestrian game, with lots of players looking very rusty, as you would expect, but some flashes of optimism. - Siem looked class after the first goal went it. Anonymous before. - Colback looks tidy - Riviere looks like he will put himself around a bit, has pace and is getting in the right places. looks like Pardew fancies using our wings and crossing again, lets see if that lasts, Riviere will need it if he is our main man at the start of the season. - Aarons looks lively, not convinced he has the skills with the ball at his feet but if he knocks it round players he is likely to beat them for pace and likes a first time cross. Reminds me of Ferguson when he burst on the scene, just more raw pace and less battle. Certainly not getting carried away with the lad, we have seen it so many times before....but looks promising. - Mapou is not a RB, but fair play for him continuing to fill in there, glad to see him get a goal. -

Welcome to what its like being a supporter in Australia. This is what its like every week, or worse when the games start at 4am instead! This is true, thankful for that blessing! Don't mind getting up at 9, 8, 7 or even sometimes 6am on a Saturday to watch, during the season. Ruins the rest of the day when we inevitably get whipped though! -

Its Glandular. That said I hear he keeps a silver lock of Alans hair in his gloves for good luck. -
Well Ashley clearly doesn't trust him over Carr when it comes to recruitment. That is more likely down to the money he saves buying abroad though. We have had ample opportunity to shift Pardew, unless we are bottom three come October/November he will be here. Guess that can apply roughly to the whole season only bottom 6 would cost him his job imo.

Some pretty mental patter going on here like. Shayno your squad comparison includes up to 7 players that might not be here by season start and certainly 3 that will never play for this club again under pardew. Yeah I agree with a decent manager, upturn in player form/youth development and some big luck on the injury front, the current squad could push top 8. We aren't that far off but we are two injuries (siem/Remy) away from being just as woefully creative as last season. Except without any chance of marveaux/ben arfa coming in. We need another deep lying creative mid, a winger, a cb and experienced striker to be fully stocked to compete IMO. Along with Marv, Jonas, Hatem and Obertan, the future is up in the air for Sissoko, Abeid, ferguson and mapou. Then dummett, Ameobi, Campbell, vuckic, bigi and Armstrong have all been linked with loans. We have a big squad in numbers but in premier league level quality no. That has all been mentioned above though.

Exciting stuff.. Hopefull a few more big players under 30 start coming on board too! Morales has been inspired for Vancouver.

Ha, is AC smart enough to be that cryptic?

I don't entirely disagree with your point, but Sturridge has had more than one season in the first team. He had a half season with Bolton when he was the main striker, was an important part of Chelsea's squad the year they won the CL, and walked into Liverpool's first team after being injured for most of the early season (at Chelsea). How many English players take the plunge and move abroad though? Granted they have to be wanted first, but imo players and the National set up could benefit from it. Not taking away from the mess that is the premiership in terms of English players. It has to be fixed and should have been 10/15 years ago. Astonishes me how prices for British players can be so staggeringly high.. "well if they made it through with all the competition from foreign players, they have to be good". Half of them don't even play for their national sides, yet command fees three times higher than full nationals coming from other countries.

Cometh the hour, cometh "Wor Jack" - Quoted for Interpolic. Gerrard has been a fantastic servant to Liverpool and the national team. Credit due. Good time to move on and retire to preserve what time he has left with Liverpool though.

There has to be another Asamoah Gyan out there for them to spunk that 14m on, surely.
