They were already relegated before they brought them in, they just couldn't accept it. Aye but they didn't have a master motivator and psychological guru to guide them right...

Absolutely no way we are staying up.

My immediate reaction after reading his quotes was try laugh and cry simultaneously before trying to find a bucket to kick Ala Clarke. After finding now bucket and being advised by my wife not to use the dogs infront of the child I realised there is little to see here. He basically has to come out with that guff for several reasons. - hoping to claw back some reminder of momentum from the week before and keeping a positive attitude in the squad. Obviously doesn't think being negative is going to help the squad. Might have a point. - he knows we have dropped another bollock which will have pearce and levy rubbing their hands with glee at the ability to hike up the prices further for saido and andros. He had to play the all is well card and big up riviere. Truth is we need to stop fannying around and front up if we want the players. We are desperate despite appearances and other clubs know it. All being said. I probably read more into it and he really does believe we did well. He wasn't even back out and into the dugout for the first goal!

Given very few options around him. Even if and when he won a ball there was zero option to help him out meaning terrible punts forward in hope. That was happening all over the pitch though whenever we had the ball. Saviet looked weak.

Watford 2-1 Newcastle United 23/1/16 - Post-match reaction from page 28

Absolute dogshit from start to finish. Never got going down either wing. Aarons looked completely lost and we got completely raped down the left because he isn't a wingback, yet couldn't get anything going forward. To be fair to Watford they closed down well but we never managed to string more than a couple of passes together. Levy and Pearce will be rubbing their hands. We need a someone that can actually finish and now we will have to pay even more extortionate prices for it. Southampton signed someone that can finish and it was the difference. We have three signings that heads so wide without pressure the only place worse would have been heading backwards. 3 at the back just didn't work, I know we are limited for players but playing one of the back three at LB would have been better as was shown later in the game. Back in the shit and hard to see us getting out, again. -
Could care less. He wants to be close to home its an easy gig. He is hardly at him prime and we are losing out. Plus if he gets thrown into the Derby we know we have a 13th man.

Hard to tell what the posturing is about with Townsend. They surely want rid, we seem to want to either buy him or loan him. He has barely featured for the team and is 18 months away from walking away for nothing. If they value him that highly they should be keeping him. Bizarre unless its some twisted posturing between Levy and Ashley. Aarons should have filled this spot and if he was injury free I think he would have and there would be no need for Townsend. As it is I'd say we aren't convinced Aarons is going to stay injury free and Andros gives cover down either flank even if Aarons did get fit and hit form on a regular basis. We need more balance down the left clearly as almost all our play came down the right the first half of the season. Jonjo and Saviet will hopefully boost the middle with Gini and number 10. We just need a true left winger. Despite preferring the right Andros started and looks just as good on the left depending on what we want.

It will go through. Just some haggling to be done IMO. Said with absolutely zero idea or inside information about the deal.
-
You're not thinking of Kevin Phillips are you? personally I'd be would like Matt Philips here. Very decent player imo. Alot of pace, van shoot, can cross, good age and very versatile. You're point still stands though as I have always thought he was a right winger or central player not left. Displacing sissoko won't happen. Not a fan of Sinclair at all. Another that wasted their career and blew precious development to pick up a fat paycheck to meet man city's homegrown quota and rot on the bench. Looked the part for swansea, shame.

All a question or how our coaching team can handle problematic players. Berahino could be absolutely huge and exactly what we have been missing for years up front. Pace, power and can create something from nothing. Offers something different to Mitro too but could play alongside him imo. Like Shelvey and Townsend, if he does come (which I find unlikely) we will be getting a player instantly motivated to play well and get into the euros which is fine in the short term. I am also worried how this affects Mitro and Ayoze. Barring a change in formation, which in the short term seems unlikely and potentially damaging. Can see perez getting dropped and he could do with a rest imo, that wouldn't be the worst here and there. Mitrovic however is getting better and better, confidence is groeint and is really close to getting some goals imo, think we would knock him back significantly and potentially Cabella and thauvin him.

Loved Matt Phillips last season and was hoping we would be in for him in the summer. That said. Snacks of sissoko replacement rather than left wing solution. While Andros started at left wing. Not sure Phillips is as comfortable. Don't really know enough about his left wing experience. Always seem him on the right.

Maybe we've signed Charles Xavier by mistake. A 70 year old shelvey recalls his time with newcastle and gini wijnaldum. http://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m74cm0UdN21rt8apco1_r3_250.gif

Don't think he is at his best out left. I'm a bit worried as to where he fits in going forward. Granted he needs a rest but if we do get another big money striker I don't necessarily think it will be at the expense of Mitro. It's probably going to be someone that can play with him or out wide. Then there is townsend.

Newcastle United 2-1 West Ham 16/01/16 - Post-match reaction from page 31
toontownman replied to Mike's topic in Football
Absolutely. Haven't felt we have been fluid and a constant threat to the opposition when attacking for so long. It brought back some great memories. Having Shelvey took the focal pressure of attacking of Sissoko and Wijnaldum and gave us a huge amount of options going forward. Big buzz of signings and the Manure result helped. Hopefully a couple more this week and a result at Watford could really see us turn a corner for the better. -
Still think Remy is a no-brainer. Can believe that we want the deal and the problem is him wanting to stay in London and Chelski wanting to keep him until they get another striker in.
-
Can see us safely bidding 25m on him. Lacazette has less than Zero interest in coming here and has already said so. Granted Thauvin said the same multiple times before we got him. Don't see it happening but also though Shelvey was destined to head to the captiol after snubbing us. Lacazette is one of the best up and coming strikers around though will surely have better offers. Just the type of player we need though, pace and power and a completely different prospect than Mitrovic which should compliment him.
-
He's class as soon as he gets a bit of fortune and couple go in he is going to relax and the goals will flow. Good player, good character.

http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/400-hidpi/cpsprodpb/BCA6/production/_87749284_shelvey_pass_matrix.jpg From the bbc - passes completed in green. 91.7% accuracy and 60 passes.

Of course they are. Ruins the narrative of us going down if we are playing well and picking up points. Absolutely nowt in it. Like McClaren said, it's handbags. Can't be banned for it surely. Barely a yellow.
-
Just not convinced he is what we need unless we are willing to drop Mitro and give up on him because his confidence will be killed by bringing a similar striker and dropping him. We need someone that can compliment and play with him as well as hold his own. Austin is likely to be more injury prone as he gets older and hasn't set the world a light in the championship. I wouldn't have minded him here but I think we can a better suited fit.
-
Looked nervy. Hopefully doesnt take him too long to adjust to the pace and physicality. Thought he was a bit dead on the ball and will need to quicken his thinking and pace of the game. Looking forward to seeing him more.
-
Stonking debut. Completely changed our side. The missing link. Controlled play and opened things up. Can't be underestimate how much he helped improve the team. Less pressure on gini and Moussa to create and Gave them more space. He even made colback look good imo.
-
Getting better and better. Some hatem esque dribbling today. Having shelvey is going to make him even more dangerous.
-
Needs to reign in his confidence coming forward and keep sharp and simple. Such a huge player for us. A couple of simple mistakes common for CBs at his age. Hopefully he learns from it though.
