Looked decent at the world cup, not really a great guarentee. We were supposed to be out looking/scouting someone in the world cup though. Like you say got to be better than Smith either way.

Which is why nobody wanted him last summer. And why he managed 10 league goals for us minus penalties. He's an average championship player who's past his best. I agree. I like the lad, but he is not premiership class. I think he might be effective off the bench, right now we dont have a whole lot of choice but to play him unless we are going to set up shop in defence/midfield. I dont think he is half as terrible as people are making out though. He has decent movement and a good finish on him and more pace than any other striker we have currently. He chipped in with a couple of goals last time in a poorer looking team (albeit not on paper), I think he will do the same this season, I'm sure we are still looking for a striker though with better qualities.

In fact, it's the only thing he's got going for him I'm assuming he means his attitude on the pitch. Ie half arsing his way around and grinning like a goon when we are losing. When Shola actually gets motivated, fit and serious on the pitch he's an effective player for us. For the people wetting themselves about Hughtons comments: "He has a big part to play in our squad this season. It was only the injury that stopped him having a really big impact for us last season." At worst he is the 3rd best striker we have at the club, (which speaks volumes) even if we bring in another striker or two he would be getting game time at somepoint this season.

I should bloody hope so he hasnt been playing for them for years!

Surely they are told not to write anything so they dont get into any bother. Sure more than a few look at the fan sites though. Its been mentioned on here before a couple of players used to read from time to time.
-
Was the least of our problems back then. Our soft centre never gave him a chance and still might cause us problems this year. Having Guti injured for long spells didnt help either not least because he then had to have Duff or a CM in front of him at LW..

Can see Huntelaar being the new Kuyt, despite Roeder not scouting him. The one thing Hodgson is going to need if he is to succeed at Liverpool is time, two years minimum. The club is messy and unless new owners come in he wont have much money to spend to help his cause. I can see the scousers getting itchy feet by christmas if they are off the pace and the honeymoon period has worn off. I hope it doesnt turn into another Blackburn experience for him. I dont see Liverpool being top four this season the way things currently sit. A couple of big signings might change that, but Everton and Spurs will be pushing them all the way, maybe Villa too if O'Neill actually spends some of the Milner money. Man City should be top four providing they gel just a little. If they have patience Liverpool will pay dividens with Hodgson, if not we will see someone else at the helm this time next year.

thought I was going mad there. Oh and to answer Fenham's question Joey Barton would be interesting.

If Hughton wouldnt touch Boyd there is no way he will want Miller... .....Surely

..Its a lifestyle choice.

I think we would have a chance at getting them both, provided we had the money to sign them permenantly or on loan, money to pay the wages and hope to hell no-one comes in for them other than us. You would think if the rumblings are true Villa would be a more likely destination for Flamini.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

He did fine last season when given the chance. Had his finishing been slightly better he would have scored more. Lovenkrands might not have the physical attribute Shola has (despite being seemingly unaware of it) but he does get himself in the right positions and has a decent turn of pace. -

Shola is fine when he is focused, when he actually pull's his finger out and concentrates he can be a decent play. Problem is we can be 5 goals down and he is sat there ambling around with a stupid grin on his face like a cheshire cat. Barton needs to have a word tbh. -
At least they got their Big signing they were talking about.

Says Mr three messages when I could have just modified the first one. Criminal page wasteage!

Much rather have Scharner than Campbell. We will probably end up with neither like! He has a few more years left to run, heard he hasnt had the best past season or so for Wigan. Was the boss several years ago though. Would give us decent cover in CB and DM.

poison dwarf and an odious fellow. But I wouldnt be unhappy to see him back. Like mentioned he is clocking on a bit now and probably isnt as quick as he was or will certainly be losing pace from here on in. Not convinced that we would see that much of him either, could be too crocked. Certainly still a cut above anything we have though.
-
Like to see him loaned to someone in the championship, failing that a spell under Clarkey at Huddersfield wouldnt be too bad! Dont think Blackpool would be particularly beneficial too him, especially if they end up struggling, the pressure will zap any confidence out of him.
-
Joe Cole is up to notch one for respect. Still think he is vastly overated. Will be a decent signing for Liverpool though if he stays fit.
-
I heard Calderwood did it under orders from Hughton. He is tinkering with Annan and Hunterlaars pages as we speak.

Some fantastic back tracking from the genius that first broke the Campbell signs for toon reports. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/187773/Sol-Campbell-gets-call-from-Newcastle quickly changed from choosing us to speaking to us aswell as everyone else. Close.
-
More importantly we need to hope our centre mids can protect the back four which, at the moment, they certainly cannot. That's where Annan comes In....

Sounds like a dodgy piece to me, will link up with us after his honeymoon? How long will that be. What the hell has he been doing faffing around since the season ended? You think if he really wanted to be playing next year he would want to link up with the club asap. Sounds a bit prima donna to me but if he knows he has the options and power to do that I suppose its little suprise. His experience will be a huge asset and he could help organise our back line who still loose concentration at the worst time. Possibly a coaching opportunity is on the table too. Given the age of our defence some experience would be good, would have preferred Scharner though.
