  2. Pretty certain Craig Moore was one of the guys. Take your pick from: Carr Babayaro Dyer N'Zogbia Bramble for the other(s).
  3. Well this is the only time he has gone off the rails, at a time when his agent is probably pushing him for a move to a better club and the manager that has signed him has been sacked and uncertainty over whether the new manager can accomodate him or not. Couple that with the fact apparently a few members of the squad dont want to be there, his potential strike partner is apparently going to be sold, and the prospect of playing with Ameobi and Sibierski upfront next season, and coached by the three stooges again. I cant blame him for having his mind all over the place! He will need to be disciplined though. Not a suprise when he sees babayaro and carr pulling a sicky whenever they like it, he would give it a go.
  4. Yeah I think he would be a nice fit for the club, his name has always cropped up in the background here when we sacked SBR and Souness. Id prefer him over Jewell, Pearce, coleman or the majority of british managers about.
  5. Tough words. If there are only one of two that dont want to play for the shirt I would be suprised. There are plenty of candidates.
  6. Tinkerman is a good bet, although its been a while since he has been succesfull, things went horribly wrong when he returned to valencia. Good manager, nice guy. Wouldnt rule out Jewell or Coleman for the city job, although depends who is investing in them, they will more than likely appoint johnny foreigner.
  7. Interesting that butt came out and said that, also quite worrying. You can listen to the link on: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/default.stm
  8. Youve scared me now Sky Sports and .com say he is having his medical with Chelsea and is staying down south, so I think we are safe on that one.

    Hasselbaink

Hasslebaink - four goals in 29 appearances - 2 goals coming against chesterfield Ameobi 5 goals in 15 appearances - 2 goals in Europe. Clearly still firing on all cylinders and better than Ameobi.
  10. nah, press conference brought forward from Weds, due to the mass hysteria and speculation that would be breaking out involving the mancity job, had we left the confirmation any longer.
  11. It has the potential to be... but it shouldn't take too much to eradicate. Someone's said it recently; arm-around-shoulder time i reckon! arm around shoulder with brass knucks on.

    Hasselbaink

And some people criticise talk of getting viduka. for the record id rather keep sibierski than hasslebaink.
  13. Assisted by terry mac the fat man is going to appoint himself.
  14. Who is buying city now anyways?
  15. Mind you that was also before the Newcastle Job was available.
  16. Would have to settle for the other applicants, SVE, Houllier and Scolari wern't they? or chris coleman, david o'leary, stuart pearce.
  17. Doesnt look good, but on the up point, everyone should have a clean slate when big sam gets here.
  18. some interesting quotes... will more than likely all be repeated at the press conference though. Newcastle chairman outlines expectations for Big Sam tribalfooball.com - May 13, 2007 Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd has outlined their expectations of what Sam Allardyce must bring to the club ahead of his official appointment on Wednesday. "The first job for the new manager is to get Newcastle back into the top six in the Premiership and to make sure that the club is playing regularly in Europe. That is the minimum we expect," Shepherd told the Sunday Sun. "Where we are in the Premier League this season simply isn't acceptable to either me or our fans. "This managerial change is about re-establishing Newcastle United as a formidable power both in the Premiership and Europe. "Sam Allardyce knows that a club with Newcastle United's support, resources and wage bill must be challenging at the top end of the table. "But you only have to look at what he achieved in transforming Bolton to know that his credentials match the job description." Shepherd, who will give Allardyce a four-year contract worth £10 million and a £20 million transfer kitty, reflected sadly on Roeder's departure. "Sam knows just how badly affected we were with injuries last season. He has a lot of sympathy for Glenn Roeder," he added. "But the performance against Blackburn simply wasn't good enough and Glenn knew that. "He did the honourable thing and resigned. "I appreciate everything he did for Newcastle. He will remain a personal friend and a friend to Newcastle United." http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=39242
  19. Rubbish, whilst some managers like Sam Allardyce might be able to control fiery characters or so called bad boys, profiling and temperaments on and off the pitch are fiercly scrutinised by the majority of managers before purchasing a player. It doesnt have to be a big issue if they are play well, but if they disrupt the harmony of the dressing room, put people or themselves at risk they are a liability. Its not good business or even sound logic, but the decision lies with the coach. Which was basically proven when Bellamy was offered around at a cut price from us and only mid to lower table teams were interested in him. He could have improved and eventually did prove he can add to a top four team, although his temperament seems to have let him down again at Liverpool. That said, id imagine Big Sam would relish working with Bellamy and would get the best out of him.
  20. tbh im not sure, one of the Fenerbache fans raiding the boards earlier in the season said he, tuncay and Alex were all out of contract this summer, but I have read a website saying he is signed to 2009, but it also says another player has been playing out of contract for over a year.
  21. Sounds like a back up option if/as we have lost out to chelsea for sidwell and cant afford Nolan. For £3m or less I would take him, im pretty sure Allardyce would sort him out, a change of scenery is definatley a start for what he needs, alot of therapy wouldnt go amiss either! No less an arsehole than Bellamy, its Big Sams call really. We could do better, but he would be a good addition on the footballing side. Arteta would be ideal but as likely as buying Rooney.
  22. If Arteta moves anywhere it will be back to spain. Class player though. The Fenerbache fan that haunted here was convinced Appiah was out of contract this summer along with Alex and Tuncay. I think we could find better strikers than Anelka for that kind of price. Rather gamble 5 on Nugent, not to say he is better than Anelka, but he would be less wages, price and hassle, and more potential.
  23. Sidwell, Tuncay, Appiah, Distin, Ben Haim and Viduka. If we sell Owen, Saviola wouldnt be a bad option. Then use any money we have to buy a decent LB and RB.
