Thought it was Martins best game for us. Although he saw less of the ball in the second half he dominated everything he had, his passing, strength and hold up play was stunning, he and Owen will make some partnership imo. Brambles tackle was the best ive ever seen him make! Going to be a tough 90 mins over there, but I have confidence and im sure the players certainly will now, to go over there and score and do the job.

He does this trick every year. Plays like a moron the first half of the season then pulls himself together for the finish. He is capable of being a match for anyone when he plays well, we have known that for years. Has he turned the corner? Id guess you could go look up the identical threads this time last season and the season before for your answer. Until he maintains this kind of form for a full season dont even talk about him turning a corner.

Wouldnt be suprised to see us bid silly money for Huntelaar in the summer, especially if he is still at odds with his coach. If emre stays Id like to see us tempting tuncay across.

What players do you want from Charlton, Westham & Watford if they go down?
toontownman replied to a topic in Football
Take Bent from Charlton Tevez, Ashton and Benayoun from West Ham Bouzza from Watford Realistically I guess either Ashton/Bent and Benayoun. Benny for his versatility would be a great squad player. Either Ashton or Bent would bring different qualities not just from each other but to what we have, either would link up well with what we have imo. Bouzza has looked very impressive everytime i have seen watford play, Id prefer Benayoun for a squad place though. -
Considering he was only supposed to be on trial three days, he must be impressing if we have extended it up to playing him tmrw night! Still dont expect much to come of it, but heads must have been turned.

you dont ask, you dont get. Cheeky sods wanting money for OBA!
-
Viduka would be a good squad replacement for Sibbers, but the latter has won himself a place in Roeders thinking. Would be a decent stop gap but wouldnt be suprised to see him go back to OZ.

The rules state that international clubs can call up any player against the player's or club's wishes, and failure to comply leads to domestic suspensions, fines, or even deducted points. exactly, in that context crumpy's stat of 38 mins in 5 months makes the FA look reckless and strengthens our case. Yes except we more than offered Owen up on a plate for international duty. Infact it could be said we rested him further so he would be fitter for the world cup.

If we are looking for a new striker, this should be the first place we look

We have no physical presence up front at all, even if we are not playing that way, its nice to be able to mix it up. The only two decent strikers there are Martins and Owen, and there are less than no guarentees Martins and Owen can play together. Carroll is a complete unknown quantity, Le Sib is a year older and still a midfielder. Dyer is unlikely to play a full season and isnt a target man. Provided we bring in a LB, RB and CB or Two Im happy for another striker. We dont need to be spending stupid amounts though. -
meh... and dont mention the S word again.

Been hardly inspiring at Bayern. Injury prone to boot. Couldnt see Roeder gambling on him tbh. Sure he would rather spunk 13m on bent or Ashton. -
Will hopefully see enough players in this summer that we can let Huntingdon and Edgar out on loan for at least part of next season.
-
Did he turn up? Dont see anything coming from it, but I guess its nice to look, will be a great experience for the guy even if he does just end up playing for Stockport.
-
Well at least we only have to hear that a couple more times.
-
Got to want charlton and pardew to put one over westham. That said Charlton are no less guilty with their treatment of Dowie and Les Reed.
-
Oh my god! of course they havent spoken much.. he has hardly been near the training ground or the dressing room.

If theres any chance he might come we will be in for him, Roeder has already confirmed he rates him and he has been over to watch him. -
He was a bit hit and miss tonight, but was still one of our best players. Like GeJon said, great at beating his man, is reasonably strong and works like an ox.

Newcastle United 1 - 0 Zulte-Waragem - Post match thoughts
toontownman replied to Dave's topic in Football
First-half diagnosis? Shambles.. still cant string two passes together Second-half diagnosis? Much the same, hugely frustrating.. no orchestration or attacking genius from Midfield, not alot going on upfront. Fine finish from Martins amidst what was his worst performance for us. Full-time diagnosis? Wins a win but another shocking performance, play AZ like that and we would be better not turning up. Star man for United? Bramble - Fantastic performance, shame he cannot repeat this when the pressure is on. Worst United player? Duff. Although there were plenty of candidates. looked better in the last 20 mins when moved back on the left, but was shocking for the best part cannot get past players and cuts in too much. Opposition comment? had great spirit but not the final push they needed, can come away with their heads held very high. Toon-pros? Bramble - although we know he will crumble to s**** again in the league. Taylor - at least when the above does crumble we have a decent replacement Another goal for Martins We got through. Thats it. Toon-cons? Cant pass, struggle to create, worse than wastefull with the ball. Post-match feelings? Poor, but a win is a win. -
Duff looks truely shocking. Huge shame.
-
Thats the thing, he never dissapoints on you-tube.. I saw a one last week and my oh my, he is on form. How he doesnt get into the starting line up is a mystery to man.
-
no mate not yet. but tuncay is best player of fenerbahce . i dont think so , he wont go any other team. I thought he said if you guys win the league this year (is it your anniversary year?) he would feel his job was done and he could move on. He was said to have signed for us on a pre contract deal in January, but likewise a Spanish or Italian team. Think that was his agent trying to force Fener into raising the contract though. Id have him here in a shot, Alex, edu and Appiah too.
-
Has Tuncay signed a new contract yet? Both teams are dangerous on their day, like us really. Doesnt matter who we get..although obviously its nicer to travel to Holland. We will have to beat the best teams if we want to win it so I have no fears which team wins.

He was talking about optimistic nut tbh.. walking up to professional footballers and talking to them in their native tongue, who the hell does he think he is.
