I reckon it'll be something like this (but you can never tell with Keane): Ward Halford Collins/Wallace Nosworthy/Varga Anderson Edwards Richardson Whitehead Etuhu Chopra Murphy Obviously not Premiership class, but team spirit may see us at least beat 19 points. And who knows, especially with how poor the bottom half does look, may be even enough to get 17th if we get in another striker, centre back and left back. Not asking much is it? Luckly we have a sort of strength in depth in midfield, with some decent-ish players. Whitehead, Kavanagh, Yorke, Liam Miller, Richardson, Leadbitter, Edwards, Hysen, Wallace and Etuhu, all fighting for 4/5 places. Just everywhere else on the we're shite tbh. With Gordon in nets i believe you'll gain another 8-11pts from him compared to Ward, puts you closer to the points tally. I think you personally need two more £5m players after that to ensure survival. PS: What the fuk is that in your AV? Gordon would gain us a few more points I agree, but I'm not sure he's worth the £9M, but then if we were to go down we would probably lose more so who knows, probably worth it in the long run as he can only get better. As for the AV, I just found it here *NSFW*: http://www.distortedview.com/show/board/viewtopic.php?t=4167 *NSFW* and thought it was class. Quite few good ones there like. There's no chance at all of just over 19 points keeping you up, you'll have to beat 30 to have any hope. The lowest ever is 34 points, but survival is usually around 40. we have a ridzuan moment here. I thought I'd made my point pretty clearly like. Looks like Teasy has just taken Kieran's title. no offence mate My comments aren't in the same league as your latest victim mate... Ones a misunderstanding, the other is MASSIVELY delusional. Just joking mate. And I agree, that Richardson's are worse. -

Sunderland are flogging Stephen Elliott to Wolves. Wish I could say I was dissapointed, but the lad is always injured.

Getting bummed off Man Utd? All the stats btw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FA_Premier_League_2002-03 Just looked at this link and then looked at the one talking out our 15 point season. And read that Henry scored 27 goals in the league. That was one more than all of the Sunderland team put together.

I'm not sure, He played in Sven's first game against Spain. But I also know Phillips played against Holland in Amsterdam where Vassell took the ball right off his foot to score, but I can't remember who Phillips played for at the time, may well have been Southampton or Villa. Mid-table, you lot are getting relegated. I'm not confident, and I did say it would be an achievment to get mid-table. But while normally I'd be 100% certain that we are going down, there are so many poor teams next season that we might just escape relegation. -

I cracked up when I heard him say that. There is no way Sunderland will qualify for european football this season. Mid-table would be a good acheivement this season. And then we build from there. -
Stoke's pre-season away kit, designed by a fan: http://www.stokecityfc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/53/9b/0,,10310~3316563,00.jpg I quite like it, different, but nice in my opinion.

Sounding good for them, I'm always interested in how former players get on, just to see if we got rid at the right time. Dichio was at Sunderland before going to WBA, he was never prolific but would always give it his all, and was decent enough cover to score the odd goal, although how he got in ahead of Bridges when he first came here no-one knows. I always liked him though. Is Welsh still wafer thin or has he bulked up a bit? As a light breeze used to knock him over at Sunderland, still you can't expect too much for a £15k signing from Stockport.

:'( :'( I'm pretty disappointed about this if it comes off. It's got nowt to do with him supporting Newcastle. Afterall Lee Clark was my favourite player when he was here. I just can't believe we are going to pay £5M for a Championship striker. Rediculous money. Plus I don't think he's good enough for the Premiership, which seems to be the general consensus on here. Fair enough he scored 22 goals last season, but about 20 of them were before Christmas, what happened after then? And Cureton got around 30 goals last season, should we sign him? I think not, after all Mick McCarthy told him he wasn't good enough for us a few seasons back. He really impressed me when he played at the Stadium last season for Cardiff, but not enough to suggest he was worth anywhere near £5M. I was really hoping we would sign someone with Premiership experience for this season. People like Hyypia, Henchoz and Andy Cole, or players like them, but instead we are doing what we always seem to do. Buying the best for the Championship.

To be honest, Andy Welsh was that lightweight, I doubt he could manage to hold the ticket stubs.

Ha, have this lads. We've just signed 10 new players. The league is ours. http://www.safc.com/news/?page_id=12634

Alex Rae. Both hailarious and legendry. My other favourite moment also features Roy Keane, when McAteer told him to put it in his book at the Stadium. I can't find a picture of it though, where he is miming writing a book. The craziest thing I have seen would be the game against Charlton where we scored 3 own goals. It was just totally bizarre. BTW Bonk, how is the ex-Sunderland contingent getting on at Toronto? Mind jogging my memory which players are former Sunlun' ones? The team itself is doing okay, we're a respectable 5-7-2 and just picked up our first away win the other night. Absolutely shocking football, though. You don't see too many 0-0 draws, always goals filling the back of the net at least. If I remeber correctly Toronto have signed Danny Dichio, Carl Robinson and Andy Welsh. All of whom did a job a Sunderland. Glad to hear they are doing well as a team though.

At the moment I reckon it'll end something like this: 1. Man Utd 2. Chelsea 3. Liverpool 4. Spurs 5. Arsenal 6. Villa 7. Pompey 8. Everton 9. Newcastle 10. Blackburn 11. West Ham 12. Bolton 13. Reading 14. Man City 15. Boro 16. Birmingham 17. Sunderland 18. Fulham 19. Wigan 20. Derby However transfers will mean that in a few days this will probably be pretty much defunct.

They've also signed the Ghana 'keeper from last years World Cup, Richard Kingston. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/birmingham_city/6266600.stm Looks like Birmingham are building a half decent side.
-
Sunderland have pulled out the "race" to sign him. http://www.safc.com/news/?page_id=12599 Looks like the other team, whoever they are have got him now. Although I don't reckon that's the reason we've pulled out. Still I'm not that bothered. I wouldn't have been happy had we signed a Championship striker for £7M.

I agree, Scotland were terrible just playing the long ball game while Japan were playing a nice slick passing game. I'm very suprised that Scotland scored a goal if I'm honest. Japan, if they had a good striker who could make good runs off the ball and who was a good finisher could have had 4/5 in just the half an hour I watched. Their main problem seemed that their front line was very static in my opinion.
-
From what I saw, about 30 mins, Scotland were getting torn a new arsehole by Japan, but Japan couldn't create a clear chance to save their life. It was 0-0 unsuprisingly. Don't know how it finished though.
-
Most probably one of four. Sunderland 4-1 Chelsea. Chelsea 2-4 Sunderland. Charlton 4-4 Sunderland. Or Fulham Vs. Blackburn a few years ago I think it ended 4-3 to Blackburn and was a relegation battle. It was just a fantastic game, real end to end stuff.
-
Looks like we are building a good solid Championship side again. Plus linked with McShane and Robinson from WBA. Looks like we are going to have a totally Championship quality back four. Shame we're back in the Premiership then isn't it.

I quite fancy Colombia to win it. Even though they are quite long odds to win it, they always seem to have a decent enough team.
