  1. Praying for a Clint Dempsey hattrick here.
  2. There is some serious tempting of fate going on in this thread. Jose and Carroll will be extremely motivated for this game and playing like their lives depend on it... Bellers too if not injured. I would love to beat them soundly, but honestly they could just as easily win. We are not playing well and they are not that bad.

    MLS 2012

Me too. The feeling is worse when you find yourself actually sitting at the Home Depot Center loathing your own team. I hate the LA Galaxy and yet there I am watching this shit. They even won the title last year and I feel nothing. This must be what its like for Liverpool and ManU supporters.... cunts.
  4. I think Warren goes to great efforts to seem unbiased and IMO largely succeeds. Shaka Hislop on the other hand... loved his commentary on the West Brom game for ESPN 3. Pretty much just talked about our players and what they needed to do better and what they did well. At the end of the game, Shaka says: "Well that was a very dissapointing result..." "uh Shaka, we are supposed to be unbiased here." Shaka: "I never prentended to be neutral here, that is your role, I always want Newcastle to win." As far as covering the history of the derby: no. They just say it is one and its important without real explanation.
  5. I like this kit a lot. Is there an Asia Cup this Summer for this kit?
  6. My father had it as well as my uncle (living in Africa can do this to you). It can go below detectable levels but once you have it you are prohibited from giving blood and things like that. Our medical staff may have notced his blood hematocrit (the amount of red blod cells you have) being below normal (or even average) and decided that his fitness would naturally be poor and not reach the levels required for a professional athelete. Makes sense. You work out a lot (especially cardio-vascular) you should have a lot if red blood cells. And if you don't well there is genetics, malaria and just being not fit.

    Rangers Newco

Mixed feelings. Always avoided the Old Firm (St. Mirren for me) although most of my family are Rangers supporters (including one former player). They should start over in the English Conference and leave the SPL for good. Give them the opportunity to gain some humilty and leave some of the sectarian nonsense behind.

    Papiss Cissé

TBF most of the posters on that thread seem sane and accurately mock the thread from the start.
  9. It's on Fox Soccer Channel and since Las Vegas has 24 hour drinking and bars, any sports bar that is open will happily show this for you (as there will be no competing events on TV). Also the hotel you are in might have this channel. One other possibility: foxsoccer.tv online will be showing it legally and sometimes the internet service offered by hotels has this as free. Other than that I have heard rumours that you can watch games online on "other" sites.
  10. Nitpick on translation: "Insha'Allah" should be translated as "God willing..." I think the subtitles have it as "inshalla."
  11. This whole black cat thing... didn't they dream it up as their mascot only a couple of years ago? Some vote among supporters IIRC and the black cats beat out "makems," "dragons" and "unicorns" or some such.
  12. Tha headline was: "Barca win 5-0 but don't play football." And yeah, I was about to say Barca and its fans are just as bad as Real Madrid in the expectations game. SBR was sacked despite winning three trophies that year (came in second in La Liga two points behind Real Madrid). Not good enough.

I am shocked there is not some sort of attempt at comedy in the headline... "Taking the PaPiss out of the Makems" or soemthing.
  14. Obertan disappeared because Jose had him in his back pocket the whole time he was on the pitch. I really felt that Jose ENrique and Bellamy were the difference between the sides. Because of Enrique we were limited in moving forward and Bellamy brought the difference in effort and passion on the pitch. The moment of the night was Bellamy almost doing in his ACL clearing our shot off the line. Aside from that there was not a whole lot of difference between the sides and there seems to be quite a lot of hyperbole going round. Ba is clearly better than Carroll and for how much stick Cabaye has been getting he was better than Adam during this game.
  15. I was listening to pardew on the radio and he was saying that due to the international break hes had chance to study all man citys games in detail and he'd noticed that the teams who do well against them are the teams that have a go at them , Man utd apart but he said that was down to the sending off. So I expect him to go for it, they are used to teams sitting deep with their passing ability they can exploit tight spaces anyway, you need to get the ball in their half, you'd rather Kompany be on the ball more than david silva, so I think well play a high line attempting to push them into their own half. I agree the teams who have done well have played that way but still lost. Who's to say if we play our game of keeping possession but sitting back we won't do better than they managed? In the past couple of games our possession has been okay... not great. Man City's posession is outstanding... and their ability to take away the ball from teams that sit back is also exceptional. They are on another level as us when given time to organise. Their CL games scared me to be honest, so I would agree with Pardew. Man City's only loss so far has been against Bayern Munchen who pressed hard from the start (I am not saying that we are anywhere close to Bayern BTW). It was when City started playing more defensively and put on (everyone's favourite player) De Jong that they lost the plot and went onto lose.

    Alan Pardew

Yes. Get this man out of our club now. Nah, I thought it was interesting that he was not only supportive of the stadium name change but more to the point that he wasn't arsed about the negative publicity it's brought. That's if he's portraying his true feelings and not just being a wise old silver fox / slippery jellied eel of course. "I can see both sides of the argument..." is mild support at best. He's been leaned on by Llambias to carry the water and this is what they got IMO.

    St James' Park

Don't be so dramatic. If they change the colours of the team i will drink my own p*ss. Not changing the colors - changing the pattern by de-emphasizing the stripes.

    St James' Park

B&W stripes will be eliminated this summer you just watch. I am thinking we'll get one stripe or it will be something stupid like harlequin. Why? Because it will help sell shirts in North America and Asia.
  19. Well his wife does have a scots name so maybe there is a link there. Also there is the fact that Scotland is actually a nice place. Fiona is an Italian name. You are wrong you know. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiona
  20. Don't worry the article was written by a an Englishman in New Zeland... has nothing to do with US of A other than the fact that the NYT paid him for it and had the lack of sense to publish it.

  22. And it would have to be five points as well because if it were six... well then we aren't so special after all because we lost a game. Chris Kamara what a dick.
  23. Soooo disappointing. Ref called a pen then the linesman had to remind him that he was at OT.... "eerrrrm, right that would be a free kick to 'United' then..."
