  1. A plug for Harry Redknapp for next England manager. Interesting.
  2. That argument could be used both ways. Blackburn didn't have a Lampard... not only did Blackburn have midfielders that weren't as good at supportng Shearer, they also weren't as good at scoring goals. Another point: Sutton looked godly next to Shearer and was woeful without. Sutton even looked poor in the SPL.
  3. You are a caricature of yourself these days. For the record my response was awesome. Shearer's support at Blackburn pales in comaprison with Drogba's at Chelsea.
  4. I am tempted to give you a "Ronaldo" type response here, but I won't. The title of this thread clearly states '92-'97 your point in only valid post '97. Unless you are arguing that Sutton was carrying him at Blackburn or that their midfield was as good as Chelsea's is now.
  5. I assume this article means: -----------------------Harper Perch - Williamson - Colo - Jose Enrique Routeledge - Barton - Tiote - Ben Arfa -----------------------Nolan ----------------------Carroll
  6. This type of formation has never worked for us in the past, however, if I were CH I would give it a try in practice to see how it works. Jonas has a great work rate and it does leave current whipping boy Perch out of the starting XI. We know Jose has the speed and fitness to pull this off. Interesting suggestion.
  7. According to SBR he was undermined, and had players bid for, bought and sold without his knowledge/consent. See the Speed and Rooney debacles.
  8. Good shout. I am too cowed by the Scotland result to be able to reposnd properly to this. Well done Sassanach.
  9. The knives will be sharpening for the aftermath of this match already. The Swiss are a good well organised very defensive team (Hitzfeld > Capello). I would predict a 0-0 draw here which will be portrayed as total failure.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Its important to note that if he did have exceptional pace and stamina (on top of his current abilities) he wouldn't be playing for us...
  11. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/8952109.stm I half expected you to rickroll me there
  12. [exposing self to ridicule] Does anyone know where I can read a report on the just finished Scotland game that has any detail at all?
  13. Your avatar is amazingly appropriate for this post. I even read it in Cartman's voice. "THE JEWS (that means you Kyle) in the NEW WORLD ORDER..."
  14. Slightly off topic but... Wigan should be paying us royalties or at least send us a thank you card. They have only 19 senior players over 21 so they meet the new "homegrown" quota rules, but they are pretty thin. Of the only SEVEN players that count as homegrown THREE of them do so because of Newcastle United and none of them are English oddly. The Caldwell brothers and Insomnia.
  15. Apart from Stoke? How does Jonas get to be classed as home-grown? Me thinks ESPN have rushed this data out. Stoke was added since my original post (we're tied at 7 foreigners). And yeah as mentioned JOnas is a foreigner and Krul should be counted as homegrown since he's been here since 2005 and is only 22 now.
  16. Interesting to see that of all the premiership clubs that have their sqauds posted on soccernet (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature?id=819764&sec=england&cc=5901) we have the most "homegrown" players. Newcastle have somehow become the most British and English team in the league.
  17. I have always criticised Given for his lack of communication to his defenders... however... Lehman and Alumnia aren't exactly talkers either. Arsenal didn't need a vocal commanding 'keeper. Given - a shot stopper - in an already *very* organised defence was perfect for Arsenal.
  18. I have never understood this about Wenger. He could have (and should have) offered us 10m for Given 6-8 years ago and they would have had a few more titles/trophies to their name.
