  1. We could finish mid-table, lose in the Carabao quarterfinals, crash out of the CL and crash out of the FA Cup and I'd still back Eddie.

    St James' Park

Well, that is one way of looking at it. Don't commit, have no Euros in Newcastle. Or, commit to keeping the stadium ready for 4 group games and 1 quaterfinal, which will bring very good revenue stream across the local businesses to Newcastle and have a great positive impact to the city and region from all points of view. That's how I am looking at this, my beloved SJP will be in the Euros in 2028. get in. A new stadium could get announced, approved and planning underway in nearby Leazes Park that won't even impact SJP.
  3. I have unquestionable loyalty to the man that has poured every single bit of his being into making Newcastle United the football club something fans near and far wept with joy earlier this year after destroying the eventual PL champions (who we never beat) to lift a trophy that seemed unattainable in our lifetimes become a true reality. A man who gave belief, pride and joy to a fanbase who were once disenchanted with football and forever stuck in an evergreen pile of shit under Ashley and previous cretins as managers and executives. So no, that line of thinking you have is not my speed, sorry pal. Never will be. It’s not blind. Eyes wide open. Patience is absolutely necessary.
  4. Fucking sick of modern football fans + those on the internet who gasp for change for the sake of it ignoring historic body of work and on/off field uncontrollable problems as factors. Classic how this shit has gone on all the time in life these days, nobody wants to just give things time - it’s now now now now, not working for 2 weeks change it now! Eddie is in Sir Bob and KK legendary territory and whether he choses BDB at left back 4 weeks from now or Joelinton as an 8 in a few weeks should have no baring on his position. We’re in the fucking champions league looking to get the knockout, we’re in the league cup quarters AGAIN, and have a whole damn FA cup campaign to play. Patience. While we all leave our jobs to post on this forum our manager is likely sat in front of a screen or white board figuring out how to fix our problems on the field. Isn’t that what we’ve always wanted? And during his tenure here he’s got it right every fucking time. When turmoil arises Eddie is the steady hand.
  5. Heading defense: Burn > Botman Heading attacks: Burn > Botman Pace: Burn > Botman (not by much but it's pretty noticeable) Ball Playing short & long: Botman > Burn Tackling: Botman > Burn (Burn is a better backs to wall tackler/defender though) High Line defending: Botman > Burn I'd personally rotate Burn and Botman with emphasis on getting Hall back into the team at LB. Hall was nearly a lights out 1 v 1 defender prior to his injury and really only had issues with generational Mo Salah last season. His ball playing and line breaking passes were crucial to us in our uptick in form last season. I think Botman still has much to improve in his aerial defending - if its a standing jump he's toast.
  6. I miss our 22/23 team, man. That ruthless pressing + absurdly stout defense.

    Nick Woltemade

I am actually really disappointed in how often our wingers don't run beyond him, fail to look up to cross to him and play it to nobody. Having said that, Nick has to bust his ass to get into the box and into the penalty spot area at all times. I have no other major issues with him, he's a really good player and the wingers/cm/fullbacks need to use their brains -- Isak is no longer there and Wissa isn't there yet. Play to the personnel that is on the pitch.
  8. I’ll never claim to know more than a true Milan fan but he had a few issues with the ultras. Odd shit given his 25 year career and every trophy he’s won for the club.
  9. I just want a proper clean and class kit. Zany shit is just weird.
  10. Pages upon pages upon pages of people over scrutinise a bad result against West Ham when clearly an illness in the camp likely had a major effect on our execution and energy levels
  11. We've always had a shitty result against a shit side desperate for a win, the over analysis and calling out some of our best players is a bit mad after some of them put in absolute perfection in performances as of late - Burn, Tonali, Bruno among them.
  12. Trips doesn’t have the legs of old, man if we had the version of him from a few years ago.
  13. We solve the midfield splitting pass issue away from home when defending and we pick up points more or less. It’s our Achilles heel and you can probably look back simply on the majority of our away results and we pick up points when the boys execute the plan. Unfortunately this season the flat midfield has returned and it seems more of an execution issue. Either the 8s or the 6 don’t maintain proper spacing and shape. Fullback defending becuase our two stud young fullbacks are out hurt isn’t helping either. Back Eddie to fix those issues Tino and Hall return and we should be good to go defensively.

    Anthony Elanga

He’s showing none of the aggression in attack that he showed at Forest last season, low or high line ignored. Hes very timid in just about everything he’s doing. Afraid of making mistakes if you will.

    Nick Pope

It’s just funny that you can tell when an outfield player is totally off and is prone to gaffs and it’s so often overlooked with the GKs imho. Could tell he was not on it and it was going being an error prone day. First example was on Callum’s first shot that Nick awkwardly saved. Yep today wasn’t his. I’m no football expert but our backup is a capable 1. Hook your main man (it’s like hockey) when you know it’s just not working for him. He wasn’t cleanly saving anything all match. He wasn’t catching anything and his punches brought on danger. Again with all dues it was a goal or howler waiting to happen with Nick. what happened to the fake injury shit to calm us the fuck down man? The dark arts. We say this every season but it’s what reset us when we had bad spells to regroup. We needed it today.
  16. Regardless of what people think of him - good or bad - his role in the team is to be our dynamo winger who’s scoring or assisting nearly every game or taking over when we need something. Thats why he’s the #10, that’s why when we’re at our best with him in the team we generally look unbeatable. Hes not doing that in the league and it’s costing us.
  17. We didnt have our first choice team playing vs Spurs either and when they brought theirs on we still comfortably beat them.
  18. Wow. That is awful news. I’ve grown to love that route on my trips over too.
  19. With the increased emphasis on long throws, corners and set pieces in the PL - our best defense to that are our giants in defense + Pope.
  20. And I still feel there are more levels to his game that we haven't even seen yet - he can be a goal scoring midfielder with his brilliant technique too

    Joe Willock

Best total performance from him in 2-3 years
