  1. It was that team spirit that had as much to do with the success of the side as anything. Individually you could argue some of the players were not that great, but add in that spirit, the way they enjoyed their football, and it made a BIG difference. Here's hoping we get just some of that back over the next couple of seasons.
  2. love it. miscalculation by the messiah No, it is a 10 game league for the teams involved in it. The fact Newcastle only have 9 left is a bit of a setback. But the teams around us have 10.. so it's a 10 game league.
  3. Ain't seen him for a while. Be nice to hear his views on our current pickle.
  4. Fairly balanced view IMO. But that's not what is supposed to happen, everyone should have a diametrically opposed viewpoint in order that a thread can extend to 40 pages plus of bickering and swearing.
  5. Who the fuck actually voted for Smith? Tards! I am one of them, but I was pissed off at the time and voted for the 'least likely to succeed' 11. Can't change my vote now.

    Has Viduka

Supposed to be fit for the next game isn't he? He's seen in Somerfields in Ponteland from time to time shopping with the family and occasionally on his own, likes his Danish pastries apparently. Carbohydrates and sugars, hmm, could explain something.
  7. How come Mort is getting all the blame? Or are you just using speculation and conjecture?

.com has a number of quotes from Keegan talking about talent in Scotland and how many clubs would be interested in some of the players. No specific names mentioned.
  9. I think you couldn't be wider of the mark.
  10. Surprised at the split in votes and the apparent faith in SA. The players were getting progressively worse as they lost belief, the fixtures were getting progressively harder. Allardyces gameplan began with a negative mindset, demonstrated all too well when he went to places like Derby and Wigan hoping to shut-up shop and to nick a point. The negativity of Allardyces ideas drained the players of belief and creativity. The longer he remained the worse it was going to get and the longer it would take to correct. We will get the points we need and we won't get relegated, though it may go bloody close to the wire. The display against Blackburn showed to me that the corner is already turned and it's all going in the right direction now. A much clearer picture will be seen 10 games into the next season. Keep the faith. You would be astounded if you knew the quality of players willing to sign for this club. (Who said that?)
  11. I was going to ask the same thing, wondering if it had something to do with balance or learning to hold the arms into the body for some reason.. ...but, rather alarmingly, I think this may be the correct answer.
  12. What mini-saga? You think the player has resisted all attempts to gain his services unless.........? You have additional information? Or.. wait, the press are speculating, the thread is speculating, you are succumbing..?
  13. Well obviously the laughing/crying guy on the left wins by default, the guy on the right is missing with every punch!

Oh God! It's only February and I'm starting to anticipate the transfer window already.
  15. This to do with kids getting the talent hammered out of them to conform with the coaches idea of football? Or is there something about the anglo-saxon type that just stymies skill from birth?
  16. I did Origami once but have forgotten most of the moves now.
  17. How many times do we end up with European players who apparently cannot kick a ball in England without either injuring themselves or entering into a three year depression. Enrique is another Luque? Another Marcellino? Surely not, there has to be something wrong with the clubs approach and handling? Why doesn't Enrique have an interpretor/companion/assistant. (We sold Luque and Solano, the only two players that could talk to him I think.) The trouble is we never really know what is going on, and though they value our financial contribution greatly the club will never think to actually share information like this with us.
  18. 1 Given - Been wanting rid of him for a couple of seasons already. Bye! 2 Carr - P45. Bye! 5 Emre - Lightweight, volatile, unnecessary. Bye! 7 Barton - Should never have bought him, a good player in there somewhere but doubt we'l ever see him. Bye! 11 Duff - P45. Bye! 17 Smith - Many managers see something in him, many fans wonder what the fuck it is. Bye! 22 Butt - Sell for glue at the knackers yard. Bye! 23 Ameobi - Championship hero. Bye! 26 Ramage - Amazing how many players who would never make it are still at our club. Bye! 36 Viduka - Should never have bought him. Get more glue. Bye! 3 Jose Enrique - Has to be worth more effort on our part to fit him in. Could be a revelation in a confident winning side. 6 Cacapa - Handy player for some fixtures, esp Europe. Oh wait, he'll be 40 before we see European fixtures again. 9 Martins - Squad player in a vibrant successful team. 10 Owen - Different team different player, up to us to become that different team. 13 Harper - Give him the chance of an extended run, but a new broom should sweep clean. 14 N'Zogbia - Keep, if he'll stay 16 Milner - Squad player, hard worker. 20 Geremi - Decent on his day, squad. 21 Beye - Better than any RB we've seen in a good while. 25 Faye - Good player. 27 Taylor - Taylor still needs a year or two, mad to sell. Playing consistently for a good side and he'd look damn good. 39 Carroll - First choice for the rest of the season then sell if he hasn't got us into Europe on his own. How many players has this club spent good money on only to render them next to worthless within a season or more?
  19. You missed out.. .. “The reality is that the Alan Shearer story and the PCP story were both absolute rubbish Alan has obviously denied he has been approached by a consortium and we had never heard of PCP until Monday’s story. "It is not one journalist that has been writing these inaccurate stories. Who do you think has both connections with the media and is willing to go to the trouble, since shortly after our takeover last summer, to cause disruption to the club by spreading so many false rumours about a takeover?" I'm on an especially dense day today, who is he hinting at?
  20. Luque, Kluivert and Tomasson would have been a fantastic front 3 for Allardyce, tbh, like. Get them all back before we risk any of Ashleys money on Keegans choices.
  21. That wasn't one of the Dubai Sheikhs, it was Minmar Patel, runs the local tandoori.
