Last time he signed a new contract he'd just scored 9 goals in 30 games that season (his best ever season for goals per game outside of the Championship season the year before when he got 11 in 21). This season he has 1 goals in 11 games, and that was in the league cup. I wouldn't have extended his contract last time out but the fact is he at least was scoring some goals then, not so now.

I don't know the answer, but I'm guessing both of those have a better goals and assists to game ratio than HBA? You'd guess wrong then. If you look at total appearances Sissoko has a bit better assists to game ratio but a worse goals to game ratio than Ben Arfa. Gouffran has a slightly better goals to game ratio but a far worse assists ratio than Ben Arfa If you look only at starts (sub appearances could be as little as a few mins after all) Ben Arfa has by far the better ratio for both assists and goals than either of the other two. Would be interesting actually if someone had a total minutes on pitch stat for all three players over their whole Newcastle career.

Not true, it depends if it was classed as accidental or not and also if it's seen. Werther its seen or not has nothing to do with which way the decision should go, that's human error. We were f***ing awful for 90 minutes today, a couple of debatable decisions doesn't change that. We absolutely deserved to lose. This is one for the "pet hates" thread for me. Does not hide the fact it should not have been a goal to them and other than their disallowed goal, we had the best two chances (Cisse both). Granted in injury-time Krul wouldn't have been in their area at 0-0. We didn't deserve to win, but neither did they particularly. By the same token, "had some awful luck there" is an absolute load of bollocks. You show almost nothing in a game like we did today and you can't complain if you get beat, I've always said that. So if you don't threaten the opposition enough the referee shouldn't give you free kicks or penalties? Which Uefa ruling does this come under? If you play like shit for 90 minutes and the opposition defender handles the ball in his own penalty area that's a penalty. How deserving the opposition are of that penalty based on their past performance doesn't come in to it. My point's so ridiculously simple, if you do fuck-all to warrant winning a game then you can't complain when you lose it. I don't care about anything else, if you play that game where you and the opposition attempt to out-bore each other then don't start bitching when you come unstuck, particularly on a day like today where we had the better players on the pitch. Refereeing decisions and stuff like that don't come into it, if you're not trying to be out of sight versus the worst side in the league by half time then you deserve what's coming to you. Assuming we'll offer him what we're currently paying (£80k) I can see plenty of Premier League clubs unwilling/unable to pay that. But obviously plenty who can and likely will. Lets face it he'll very likely go elsewhere. We aren't known as being a club that pays higher wages than others. Quite the opposite, in fact. We aren't known for big wages no, but there are still plenty of clubs who spend less than us on wages and plenty who are very unlikely to beat an offer of £80k per week (no point in offering him less than we're paying him now after all). Really just depends on whether the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham or Chelsea come in, if so we've got no chance. Like I said he'll probably go elsewhere.
