Yes mate the Saudis will definitely want a team that isn't even allowed to play in the prem. Don't be daft, they would be allowed to play in the PL, there's no other option. The PL are playing this game because they're being allowed to. If they had their bluff called then at worst they would fine the club. No way on earth do they destroy their own league.

As has been said multiple times, its down to the club to inform the league of a takeover and also of the end of that takeover, its not for the league to decide its over because of a announcement from a third party. Clearly something has happened recently to bring this announcement from the club. Its quite silly to try to claim this is a reaction from when PIF pulled out.

My view was that they probably were talking in the background but they wouldn’t find a way to get it passed as the PL wouldn’t budge on their stance and that’s proven to be the case, It’s now been officially rejected. I don’t get the crowing of the ‘it’s still on’ crowd. Bar a lengthy court case or appeal process at this moment the deal has been rejected. Dead There's a appeals process before any legal battle. But I think the crowing is firstly because this is proof that the whole "Its dead and nobody is still talking" claims for the last few weeks have been proven to be wrong. Secondly because a conclusion is always better than none. A formal rejection at least allows the possibility of recourse. I think it's clear the Premier League have tried their best over the last several months to allow no recourse by refusing to make that final decision. Now they've been forced to do that. Before it was limbo and no certainly of the deal even being on or off. Now we have a confusion and the possibility of appeals and challenges. In the world of no hope that is NUFC even a long shot is worth crowing about.

Seems pretty obvious like. PIF announced their withdrawal, but it's the club who informs the league of a takeover and the club who officially withdraws. The club didnt withdraw and kept at it. The Premier League mentioned PIF withdrawing in statements as a easy answer to public questions as they continued to argue with the club on the quiet. Now they've finally had to make a decision. Jacobs is either being deliberately obtuse or he's thick.

Seriously? Did you read the club's statement . . . "This conclusion has been reached despite the club providing the Premier League with overwhelming evidence and legal opinions that PIF is independent and autonomous of the Saudi Arabian government." "The club and its owners do not accept that Premier League chief executive Richard Masters and the Premier League have acted appropriately in relation to this matter and will be considering all relevant options available to them." Yes. I have read it. It will all depend on whether their lawyers think the case is winnable. The problem is that PIF is clearly not autonomous and independent of the Saudi Arabian government. I know it’s complete hypocrisy when compared to Man City etc. but hey this is Newcastle United, what do we expect? But do you not think he'd have taken that advice before making such a incredibly strong statement? "overwhelming evidence" saying the top guy at the Premier League has "acted inappropriately". It's pretty strong for someone who's not yet decided his position. By the way we're is your evidence that PIF are clearly not autonomous? The PIF board: Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al-Assaf - Minister of State and member of the Saudi Council of Ministers Majid Abdullah Al Qasabi - Minister of Commerce Mohammad Abdul Malek Al Shaikh - Minister of State and member of the Saudi Council of Ministers Ahmed Aqeel Al-Khateeb - Minister of Tourism Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Falih - Minister of Investment Mohammed Abdullah Al-Jadaan - Minister of Finance and of course: Chairman of PIF Mohammad bin Salman - The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia... I can imagine you’d have to be a pretty bloody good lawyer to convince anyone that they are independent of the Saudi state... However maybe it is possible, or maybe they hope they can force the PL into submission through expensive litigation? I’m just not feeling positive about it. I think it's the legal structure that separates it from the politics of the government. Apparently plenty of legal people including Qatari lawyers consider it a separate legal entity. I'm no expert but from what's been said in the past (specially from a independent sports lawyer who wrote articles about it) it doesn't seem like a forgone conclusion that it's considered to be run by the government itself.

Personally hope every goes even further. Stop even watching this shit on TV or listening on the radio, stop discussing the score or league placing, take no notice. If someone even mentions NUFC to me now I just tell them "no interest, not even a real Football club while he's in charge". People might think it has no effect, but its finally spreading to some of my mates who are now taking the same view. That the club needs to be ignored until he leaves and it can become a real Football club again.
-
Its really depressing. Just how long is it going to take some people to realise that "support the team not the regime" doesn't work, its complete bollocks. By supporting any aspect of NUFC you're supporting the regime. There is no half way house were we hate that Ashley ripped the soul out of the club and is slowly minimising it until it becomes some shithouse Derby county level nothing club, but we're also happy with the signings this summer so we're going to "support the lads", its fucking mental shite.
-
Always find it amazing when people talk about moving on and getting back to normal for the sake of their sanity. The only thing worth doing that's NUFC related is discussing/waiting for a takeover. At least there's hope in that, unlike supporting this club which is a pointless dredge of shite. Anyone who's still involved in the pitiful excuse of a club that's Mike Ashley's NUFC really needs mental help to be honest.

A exclusivity agreement is used to allow a buyer to do due diligence and generally give them time to sort out the deal without the worry of another buyer coming in. Once the deal is all signed (which this was months ago) exclusivity ends and the legal terms of the signed contracts take over. In other words the exclusivity agreement isn't relevant anymore. Could there be a part of the agreed deal that allows for breaking that deal if money isn't fully transferred by a certain date?, of course. Would the buyers sign such a deal knowing that effectively that time frame is out of their hands and with a third party (The Premier League)?, I seriously doubt it. There's also no evidence at all that any such clause exists. Instead people (like Edwards) are just acting as if the standard exclusivity has continued after the deal was agree, that doesn't happen.

Stopped reading as soon as he mentioned survival as a hurdle for the takeover.

This not disputing golfmag has genuine contacts he clearly has, but think this info received is either incorrect or misinterpreted. We would know if this bid had been green lit, and all the evidence suggests it hasn’t yet. It's just completely vague to the point you can interpret it in about 10 different ways. I don't doubt he's been told that though. I mean you could interpret that comment as there belief that the Premier League have asked a question they haven't received a satisfactory answer to therefore it's not them preventing the takeover, it's the people not providing the answer they need. Or its the club (Ashley), who hasn't provided the answers to the PL on behalf of the buyer. Which would explain how the test hasn't passed yet but the delay is considered to be Ashley/the club and not to test itself. The questions and answers do apparently go through the club after all. Just a wild guess of course. Sent from my ELE-L09 using Tapatalk

They will, but long term crowds will die off. They already have in reality. A good percentage even now only turn up because they aren't paying. As long as they continue to give free tickets away they can keep the "support" up. But the percentage of free to paying customers will increase year on year until its unsustainable. At the moment the loss is only temporary, the fanbase is still there they just can't support the slow death of their club. But that'll change eventually. Lack of passion by current fans who actively stop supporting will effect the number of new fans coming in. It'll all dwindled into fuck all eventually unless the club is brought back into something worth supporting, and ASAP.

Everything is agreed in signed legal documents before it goes to the Premier League. Not sure about this one. Don't want to get my hopes up and assume he's saying its passed the owners test. He could maybe be saying that right at this moment there is something standing in the way other than the current PL test that he has been told is more critical to the deal than waiting for the OD test to pass.. Its all quite hard to guess at until Golfmag explains a bit really. But I certainly can't see how Ashley could stop this, let alone why he would..

I would probably still pick Saudis ahead of most others tbh. If they're good enough partners for our govt, Amanda and the Reuben bros, they are good enough for me. Exactly these journalists now preaching we should be wary of their motives can f*** off. I’d happily see them purchase the club without passing the test, and then just fold the club to f*** off the PL. These journalists would be better off investigating which clubs are actively pulling Masters strings to prevent this and also what extent Bein are medalling behind the scenes. I’d say you’d be more of an idiot to continue to want Sports Direct FC to represent our great city, in a league who clearly would only value us as being continued cannon fodder for the big 6. But each to there own I’m sure you’ll be amongst the thousands who continue to rock up and happily take it up the arse. Most of those who are against the takeover probably don't attend games anyway. Some of them might be actual moral objectors. Although they'll probably happily join millions of others in marvelling at football played by clubs like Chelsea and City with their angelic owners. And most of the people in favour of the takeover has no idea who MBS is or what he has done and are willing to do to get what he wants. Don't get me wrong, I would love Newcastle to have bottomless pits of money and compete with the best in the world. But I don't want MBS as our owner. Doesn't mind Amanda Stavely or the Reuben brothers though, think they could be good owners without PIF. Has it taken you 16 weeks to realise MBS is no angel ? You should apply to the PL for a job, I think you’d fit the criteria there looking for. So you either like MBS and what he stands for or you just don't give a s*** and want Newcastle to get his money. I'm more worried what he could do to Newcastle when/if he looses interest. How would he react the day the fans will drive him out as with Ashley right now. You're honestly worried what anyone could do to Newcastle United after 13 years of Ashley? Liquidating the club right now would be better than what Ashley is doing. At least then it could be brought back with the current fanbase. The slow suffocating death Ashley has been putting the club through is far worse. He's slowly turning it into a small tinpot club. If he stays, in 10 years time we'll be Derby or Bolton level. After generations of fans walking away and their kids not being brought into the support.
