  1. it's becuase thats not the truth. how many players have left their favourite club to further themselves ? think gazza and lee clarke for f*** sake (shearer aswell as we tried to sign him when he went to blackburn) You know his mind better then he does? as much as you and slim do. think of how many players have turned down those riches and the big 4 to stay with their beoved clubs ? I'm on about Slim, he was talking about what he'd do (and asking if we think its strange), not saying what he thought Carroll would do.

  3. Very surprised by the fee, seems a bit ridiculous, I was expecting more like £12m-£14m.
  4. I saw an article with the same players mentioned in one of yesterdays papers to be fair, I think Tomasson has one of the highest cost per goal figures in PL history. Didn't get to read the article properly though, just glanced at it as someone else was reading but that was the gist of it. I doubt he's even close to the top of that list. That's what it looked like the article was implying. Ryan Babel, Kezman and Tommasson (amongst others who I can't remember) were all pictured with some figure next to them. The usual selective "journalism" no doubt. Tomasson cost £2.5m and scored 3 Premiership goals for us, shit yes, but not even worth mentioning compared to some (we also got our money back). For example Jo cost around £18m and scored one goal for Man City (6 total including his loans at Everton).

  6. While the league is closer overall than the season we got relegated, the bottom section is pretty much the same so far. The 17th/18th place teams have 1 point more than last time, 19th and 20th have the same number of points.
  7. Probably, though the way he hit it meant it was swerving away from the keepers hand.
  8. I blame him, but I don't hold it against him, he's been fantastic this season so he's earned some leeway.
  9. How would that be any different? No, I got that. I'm asking how would Carroll leaving be any different? It would still be reported primarily as big news for the club he's going to.
  10. Not really interesting so much as obvious. You reckon, for instance, if Carroll was going to the Spuds the likes of SSN would say "big nufc transfer news on the way..." rather then "big Spurs transfer news on the way..."?

    Sunderland...

    You meant inadequate yeah?
  12. If we signed someone else ahead of him then yes he should go.
  13. They've only got £18m for cert, rest is addons etc...which could come over several years and apparently of the £18m they are only going to see £6m upfront, plus Tottenham are owed nearly £2m of the 18 as well. Where do you have this from? Scottwilsonecho Scott Wilson For the record, the majority of the £24m for Bent will be paid up front. I'm told there's very few add ons after today's talks. Every other source has it down as £18m paid over instalments and £6m in addons (appearances, goals, international caps). I'd trust the majority over one source.
  14. Yeah they could spend that money on two players who are both better Footballers then Bent. But I'd be very surprised if those two players could score as many goals combined as Bent has on his own. Just depends on weather the team possibly being more creative/fluent (if they spend on a midfielder and striker) will make up for losing 50% of their goals.
  15. They can't bring in any loans.
  16. We could get a player who will compete for a first team place, rather then accept a place on the bench.
  17. We are 7 points ahead of relegation, take it easy, it can turn fast On the same number of points after 22 games as we were after 29 games last time out (with the table looking pretty similar to last time as well). Plus a lot of the teams below us get well under a point per game on average. I'd say virtually assured of safety is pretty apt.
  18. Just like we had Milner's replacement ready in 2008 That's got to be one of the worst comparisons ever
  19. That's how almost all transfers work though.
  20. Coloccini was a well known full international as well, won't stop people getting on players backs early on.
  21. Is 'Own Goals' really their next top goalscorer, or was someone just making a shit joke? It was earlier on in the season.
  22. Then why the funk is he not in the national team now!! Didn't Villarreal replace him with Capdevilla after he left? Yes, they bought Capdevila from Depor. Going abroad usually hurts your NT chances in Spain, unless you're aready established or play in a big team (sorry). The relegation didn't help either. He's off the radar for now but let's see what the next callups are. Capdevila is 33, Amorebieta seems to have chosen Venezuela, Arbeloa is average... I suppose Del Bosque will go for Monreal/Arbeloa for now but we'll see. Oh really? Will that make him the first 'foreign' player to play for Athletic since Lizarazu? Infact isn't he more of a natural CB anyway? It's a crying shame for Enrique if he can't get in ahead of that bunch tbh. He also plays as LB. And he would be the second player to play for another national team (not really "foreign") in Bilbao's history yes. And yes I rate José Enrique above Monreal/Arbeloa, we have much less talent on the left than on the right though. We also have San José or Domínguez that can play on the left, but are natural CBs. is there any buzz at all in the spanish media about Enrique? arent you a sports journalist or something - maybe you could pull a few strings. it took the british media and fans of other clubs long enough to pick up on Enrique, but now they're raving about him. Remember when some paper (Mirror or Sun?) had him down as one of the worst signings in the Premiership? Fucking morons.
