Oliver knows they wouldn't sell half as many papers if he didn't have access to Roeder/Shepherd/Clark/Taylor, etc. etc. However, as most of his stories are lifted from the official site these days I'm sure he could manage. You don't find Roeder giving the Journal many "exclusive" interviews because people in football tend not to deal with media sections that slag them off, even when it's justified. The likes of Bramble won't speak to Oliver, etc. and so he becomes an instant target, however he DOES speak to the Journal and they tend to give him a far easier ride, even when he's atrocious - this week they have said he has simply been made the scapegoat "yet again." It's the sad state of the published media these days, very few sources can afford to be a voice for the fans because they'll be refused access to the football club. I really don`t understand some people on this forum. Granted our defence is shit but clean sheets don`t win you games. Every team above us have scored more goals. You know those little things that are the difference between 1 point and 3. As I stated earlier in the thread there are teams below us who have conceeded less goals and teams above us who have conceeded more. Take a look at the league table. This may change when we get Owen back but if he gets injured again. I firmly believe we need both. Dyer is definatly not a forward. He sees himself as a Scholes or Lampard type. Just not as good because he can`t head a ball or tackle.

Maybe thats just football. Otherwise there would be more than 10 entries in goal of the month.

There are nine clubs that have conceeded less than us. 4 of them in the top 4. Clubs above us have conceeded far more goals. 3 clubs below us have conceeded less. Go figure.

It could be that he see`s his career as basically over and wants as much cash as possible. He has the risk of going over there playing shite and left to rot on less. I think the only chance ha would snap up straight away is back to his home country.

I`m suprised how many have backed GR and his comments, just looking at the poll. Its not about the whole season, just the AZ away leg. If we were talking about the whole season then the defence, Attack, Glen and lack of the right transfers would be to blame. How many games have we lost where we have failed to even score one goal. If the defence improved but GR and the attack didn`t we would be having a Souness season all over again. Low goals and lots of boring draws.

Why blame a crap defense when they play crap ? They didn`t let us down did they ? They played just below their ability where as the rest of the team played 1000 times under their ability.

Roeder Blames the Ref first then the defense for our exit but do you ? Think about it our defense was Solano - RW Titus - Back up CB Taylor - Just a kid and Huntington an out of position kid. The rest of the team was basically at full strength in their favoured positions yet we couldn`t pass, keep the ball or get a shot on target. How is this the defenses fault ? The tactics were all wrong, so how was this the defenses fault ? Az are the competitions highest scorers that managed to score 2 away goals when the defense were playing well yet Roeder expected a crap excuse of a defensive unit to not conceed away from home to a team that has scored 82 goals in the league and 16 or more in the uefa. Surely the fault firstly lays at GR and secondly the small fact that we didn`t get 1 single away goal. If the team can`t hold on to the ball then the defense is going to suffer.

Didn`t Nicky Butt lash out at the end after we fucked the final corner. I remember quite a few times this season hes shown he gives a fuck more than the rest of the team. He should be captain imo.

he was expecting them to be as open at the back as they were over here,he was also expecting some of our players to fancy it. So he was expecting Gaal to not learn from his mistakes. AZ learnt their mistakes in the first half first leg by the second half of the first leg. Something else I noticed, i`m sure you all did was Parker. Although he played ok, when they scored the second he didn`t talk once, his arms were by his side walking along. No urgency, no encouragement or anything.

Roeder is such a prick. It was obvious our 2 goal lead wouldn`t be enough, they scored 2 at SJP playing poorly whilst we played our best. What was he expecting the UEFA cups highest goal scoring team to do? He should have gone all out to get the 2 away goals. The amount of critisism thrown at the defense this week compared to last week yet we still conceded 2 goals the same. I know the defense played completely shit this week and good last week but the difference this week was poor tactics poor passing and no end product. 1 goal was all we needed regardless of how shit we defended tonight. We should have done the whole thing in reverse to what GR did. We should have played neat football at the start, passing through them, then if they drew level with no reply we should have for the last ten mins used the sib tactic that never works. The last time I saw us play this bad was against Sheffield Utd at home I think.

Note* Not one defender in that list. Note* Regardless if there was we still would have only got a draw at Wigan. Chelsea have still been winning without any CB`s fit. Alot of the s**** teams above us have worse defenders yet they can score goals and still win. All teams conceed the odd goal from freak shots and freekicks, doesn`t metter who you have defence as long as you midfield and strikers can score a goal or 2. How many games have we lost 1-0 because we can`t score. I fail to see how its our defence that is always the problem. Not many teams these days in the premiership win without conceeding. 4 clean sheets in 28 league games is poor, regardless how many goals you score. True. I still put this down to inconsistancy of the backfour lining up rather than plain shiteness. Watching ManUre last night with a different back four reminded me of us, it was comical at times. They still had topclass defenders but because they don`t play week in week out they looked poor. Readings back four was different as well I think. I think changing one of your back four every now and then is ok but changing 2 or more every match has to be a main factor for letting in so many goals.
