His after match interview made me laugh because of his honesty. It went something like " Yeah we got of to a good start with the 2 goals, then it all went abit pearshaped".

Why? We are not going to mount any serious challenge this year are we? The way I see it if we buy younger palyers we will be better off in a few years when they develop. Like with when we signed Jenas, Lua-Lua, Bramble, Viana, O'Brien & Ambrose you mean? What people seem to forget is that NUFC destroys any potential in a player under the age of 25. They come here with raw ability to be a great and end up a ruined reck by their second season. I always wonder how good Bramble, Milner and Zoggy would be now if they were bought by any of the top 4 in this country or others. So I hope we are signing a veteran defender.

I think in regards to Where this argument stems from its better to judge a player whilst actually being at the match in the stadium. Its better all round tbh. The only good thing about TV is that you don`t have to wait until you get home to see the goal or incident in any detail.

they haven't forgotten, they just realise he isn't one of the best forwards in Europe any more he was a pace man, if he comes back slow, he won't have shit You havn`t got a clue. He changed his game based soley on pace ages ago. He has the best positioning and movement I have seen. He won`t lose a very predatory footballing brain from a knee injury unless thats where he keeps his brain.

Comparison of Managers. Where does Glenn Roeder stand?
Rebellious replied to Delima's topic in Football
Very shortsighted. Sure we probobly could have bought a cheaper striker but I don't think we could have bought a cheaper striker that is proven in the CL, is only 22 and still has his best days in front of him. Oba is not the complete player right now but in a few years he will be. He may not fire us into Europe on his own now but when wehave built up the rest of the squad in a few years I'm sure we will be very thankful we have signed him. As for Duff I have no doubts he will come good. Sure he has lacked form and been unlucky recently with injuries but when he does get back i'm sure he will give us a massive boost. i know martins is a fantastic talent but we needed defenders,we couldve spent those 10 million on buying one or two decent defenders, buying defender was our priorty and as much as i like Martins,i would've always had one or two defenders over him.. Duff was a good player, but lets face it he's been shite since day one here, but i am hoping he comes good but overall,15 million on a striker and a winger, that left us suffering because of our poor defenders, and now all the good solid defenders have moved, our only hope is that we can somehow snatch a good defender before the end of the january transfer window, and that looks unlikly tbh.. Shearer had retired, we were left with only Owen and Ameobi. Owen was injured and you're saying we needed defenders ahead of strikers. Incredible. My thoughts exactly. How anyone can be so stupid so say we needed a defender more than a striker is beyond me. Our defense at the time was far from perfect but we had players. A world class defense with no strikers would get you relegated. -
Didn't realise he had such a decent record... ...I suppose with better service he could be excellent, but £9 million is still a gamble we can't afford to take at the minute... Top goal scorers 05/06 Scorer Goals Team Thierry Henry 27 Arsenal F.C. Ruud van Nistelrooy 21 Manchester United F.C. Darren Bent 18 Charlton Athletic F.C. Robbie Keane 16 Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Frank Lampard 16 Chelsea F.C. Wayne Rooney 16 Manchester United F.C. Marlon Harewood 14 West Ham United F.C. Craig Bellamy 13 Blackburn Rovers F.C. Yakubu Aiyegbeni 13 Middlesbrough F.C. Henri Camara 12 Wigan Athletic F.C. Didier Drogba 12 Chelsea F.C. You think he is a gamble? as apposed to who at 9 mill ? But does his character and personality 'fit' at Newcastle? So he scores loads of goals at another club, doesn't mean he'll do it at Newcastle. I think we should be looking no further than the likes of Gateshead, Blyth, various pub teams and Sunderland for new players. Well maybe not Sunderland, that's stretching it a little........we do need some quality. His character will fit, he has been arrested for air gun I think it was. Joking aside he is from Ipswich and will get on well with Dyer and Bramble. Has played u21 with Milner and Taylor. He is very good in the air especially heading which we need and holding up the ball.

Accurate. Completely agree. Milner should have got MOM made Neville look stupid a few times, some good tackles, got back and forth well. Parker is just coming back from injury, i agree he hasn`t be as good lately but he was better than some made out. He set the spirit up of the team straight from the start. Can no one remember the tackle right at the start when he made Rooney look stupid and clattered him a few times. I think it was that at the start that quitened Rooney. Harsh comments on Martins too, he is 5ft nothing and he had Rio and vidic all over him but still won over 50% of his headers. Showed emmense strength too. Its a team game. I havn`t had that much fun during a game since the Robson era.

So when Man Utd beat us its 3 points from 15 or if you go back its 6 from 21. bluecry.gif

Did you pick that one by the quality of it, or the importance of it. Just wondered. It has to be both. Importance, got us into Europe, where we still are. There has to be quality to put a header past any Chelsea team. I wonder how many headed goals they have conceded since they became champions ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozbuCF5kT6s&mode=related&search=

Agree with every one of those, good man

Cool, can you swing by Ipswich to pick me up

The only difference between Bramble and Ramage is that Bramble is faster. I thought this yesterday before I found this thread. They have both cost us games when played. When everyone was defending ramage because he was playing LB and it wasn`t his fault he was rubbish, how come Huntington has done better there and how come Nobby has done better in RB than Ramage ever did. I think its time that everyone realises that the only top 8 defender we have is Taylor when he matures a bit.

Linesman didn't raise his flag niether It was that twat Foy again wasn`t it. What a pathetic excuse for a Ref.

“My target is to help Newcastle achieve the ambition of winning at least one trophy this season" Excellant Oba, thats right at least one trophy. He wants the treble this season. You can`t say he lacks ambition.

Yeah your right it was foul, but no need for him and the others to act like girls all night. You say about the press, what are your thoughts on JM guesturing for a booking the sad little fuck ? Glad Roeder told him about himself at the time tbh.
-
Just a couple of things I noticed reading through, why would Roeder want to bring on lesser players when Chelsea brought on there greater players? Although I do agree Sibs should have been on, but maybe he needed a rest, that we don`t know. Towlie you talk through your ring mate. Enough said. Another laughable comment i read was that parker passes better than Butt blueconfused.gif I agree that Dyer Emre and Milner were all in eachothers prefered positions whats that all about? As I said to the misses I don`t look for a win against Chelsea or ManUre I look to how well we play and I thought we played some nice passing moves that would kill Tottenham off in no time if we play the same. As I said earlier in the thread the freekick was moved, the only player I can think of that usually notices that sort of thing is Shearer who is no longer playing. Maybe the whinger Carr would have noticed but he can`t play football so thats irellivant too.
-
I would be pissed of if it wasn`t Chelsea we were playing but its expected. More time to concentrate on winning the UEFA cup and finishing at least 7th this season. Also why didn`t we have someone on the post for the freekick? Since Shearer has gone we havn`t got anyone to moan like F*** to the ref when other players cheat, I bet he would have noticed they moved the ball. Some good news, Tottenham are being taken to extra time i think.

Burns gold bars and knocks peoples pimms over on a fairly regular basis.

So who was in charge of the transfer funds in the summer? Transfers aren`t as easy as you might find them on a computer game. I don`t think GR had been in the job long enough to truely identify targets. Big clubs scout players at a young age for a long time. Maybe he was scouting priority positions until Owen got injured.
-
Roeder has done very well in imo. We havn`t been thrashed this season by any team, where we have lost points it has been down to a defensive error or having no one on the pitch who can score. I fail to see how this season could be blamed on Roeder. The team has picked itself most of the year. We have also done well in Europe and cups. He has made sensible decisions on when to bring players back regardless of the pressure he has been under. We even came back from conceeding which you don`t usually associate with us.

I`ve been day dreaming about our pace since we signed Duff and Martins. Add Owen and Dyer...fastest team in England maybe?
