'Generally poor' is a bit strong, agreed.

It's a lovely way to cap the year off, for sure, dragging your generally poor team into the World Cup Finals kicking and screaming on your back, and its shone a greater spotlight on his claim in the eyes of the media, but to childishly label posters as "fanboys" because they believe he should win it is barely worth responding to - many of whom thought he should win it before the second leg vs Sweden, myself included. I don't give a fuck about who FIFA directly or indirectly lobby to win the thing FWIW, and I don't know why anyone would pay attention to them any more than they would to Paul Merson or some other know-nothing media expert. As a separate point, to me it seems like a futile exercise to bang on and deride Per Nilsson etc. Are you going to similarly find out who was at fault for all the rest of Cronaldo's goals? Will they not count either then? I suppose you should do the same for Messi, Ribery and any other contender you feel appropriate. Truth is, players are justifiaby shit scared of these types of players and make more mistakes than they will against your bog standard crap forwards, but that fear is earnt and you can't disregard the profits yielded from that fear!

Please enlighten us, I don't think anyone on here has clled CRonaldo anything less than the 2nd best footballer in the world, so please tell me how people are criminally underrating him? What annoys me is the fact that people like you, the CRonaldo fan boys, are starting to say he MUST win it after he scored 4 goals in 2 games against Sweden and are putting him in the top echelon with the likes of Pele (who as a 21 year old scored 5 against Benfica over two legs in the intercontinental cup which was considered the biggest club game in the world). 4 GOALS AGAINST MIKAEL ANTONSSON AND PER NILSSON, I'm pretty sure Sweden would've gone through if it wasn't for those two also tbf. Putting words in people's mouths to suit your argument there, Felipao.

Chile have been excellent (IMO) for years. Fiery tempers cost/close to costing them nearly everytime I see them play though. One of the most pleasing international football teams on the eye though, for sure. If you were the Belgian FA, you'd break the bank for a world-class coach instead of Marc Wilmots . This generation of players has some real talent, and if they can be shaped into a team they could live up to the hype which they probably don't justify atm

I'd reserve Welbeck for where we're underdogs. Wasted position otherwise. England have some kind of weird ghost in the machine, which will always push the ball out wide to be crossed into the box even if a) they have Sturridge competing aerially against the likes of Mertesakcer b) there's barely anyone in the box They're convinced a Shearer or a Carroll will materialise from the ether and give opposition centre-backs some competition for a ball put into a dangerous area, but it's just not going to happen. They need more people committed from midfield when they're on the front foot for sure. I think Rooney should play deeper (mainly because there are no other natural players who can convincingly drive forward from central midfield) and have Sturridge up front with a Lambert type player.

Doesn't help every fucking game is there and for anyone from remotely out of London would have to taken an afternoon/day off work to get there and then need to stay over in London after the game. It was dogshit. Horrible abusive fans too.

What happened to you, man!?

CRonaldo should win it. He's been the best. Ribery isn't a patch on him, it's fucking ludicrous in fact. Just because Bayern were shit hot, doesn't mean Ribery is anywhere near Cronaldo's level.
-
Still have very high hopes for him, but I'm very worried about his head/attitude some times - has no idea where he, or anyone else around him, is at times. It's not a positional misjudgement or anything though, it's a concentration thing - which I find a bit concerning. Needs motivation and support which he doesn't seem to be getting at the club atm.

Someone probably went to a to a lot of trouble doing that, so I'm not even going to say it

Decent comparison, although annoyingly only ever when he's facing us - other times he just looks really, really ordinary and susceptible to injury.

No such game exists even theoretically in the NUFC fixture list, lately. It'll be a slog. -
