  1. The lights thing actually generated an atmosphere. It's more than most people do in the ground to create one. Need to have the Wyatt family theme going on at the same time then it'd be over for me lol. We've previously come out to Kurt Angle's theme for some reason. The fuck? Would love to see that
  2. Would have thought Llamela / Eriksen would be good enough for almost any team tbh, what's happening?
  3. In the PL he dominated some games for us, especially when he first joined. He has the potential to be a lynchpin for almost any team imho, tactics permitting.

    Isaac Hayden

Didn't even seem to be DCM yesterday. Him and shelvey seemed happy enough to drive forward. Much prefer that than the two of them sitting too far back. It seemed more like a 4-4-1-1 with Diane while not having a great 90mins had by far his best game for us. The most complete midfield pairing I've ever seen in English football was Vieira and Petite. Not like you need to be told about it but they could both do everything, either going forward or back. Love seeing an athletic central midfielder who can play a bit. Nee Batty 'n Lee, mind

  6. He is an average PL player and I don't think I've ever said he and Hayden cannot play together, I think you are mistaking me for someone else perhaps. Shelvey was fantastic yesterday, however, which I managed to witness in the flesh. Huge work rate as well. p*ss poor tactics from Birmingham though, they just sat off and didn't press or do anything really. One of the worst teams I've seen at SJP as good as we were. Utter Bollocks! He's much better than your average PL player. Some of the passes he makes most PL players would never even contemplate, he's got the close control to get out of trouble when pressed and his composure when he gets forward is superb, apart from his long distance shooting. His consistency has always been an issue but, under Rafa, he's putting in top performances week in and week out. Well, I disagree. I think he's just an average player in that division. His passing is of a very high standard, but switching play wide with long balls to players not being marked or in space isn't that hard a skill. Through balls, one twos etc. are more difficult and while he's capable, he is no Fabregas or Özil. Anyway its his all-round game that is average. Does he create enough, does he score enough? He's quite a luxury player in many ways. He's bossing this league as he should, but he's quite an easy player to nullify because he has no pace or dribbling skills so press him and man mark him and he can become very one dimensional. I'm absolutely shocked that he is constantly allowed the freedom of the pitch to be honest. His best games for us is when he has acres of space and time. If he can dominate midfield against better sides and players where space and time is of a premium, then fair enough. He hadn't shown he can do that not even on an average basis never mind consistent so I won't hold my breath. I'd be worried if he's our main man next season in midfield if we are a Premier League side. He could work in a midfield three, but we would need someone like Kante in and around him. Not sure I agree there, Pirlo at Juve made a career out of it and was rightly lauded for being probably one of the best playmakers in the world for a long period of time.

I have to agree, I've always rated Shelvey and I couldn't believe it when we signed him. He definitely needs a very good manager to get the best out of him, but how many other English players of his age can play with such swagger and able to ping the ball about without fear of reprisal. In my opinion, I genuinely think he should be in the England 11 in Centre-mid above all other English players at the moment, with our national team all about pace and no brains at all, we need someone like Shelvey who can pick a pass and exploit the space for likes of Vardy, Walcott etc.
  8. Heard on the radio that Birmingham just didn't press him and was allowed to dictate play. Mental tactics if true.
  9. No. His background is similar to Vardy's, came up through the non-leagues before Peterborough took a punt on him IIRC, then Palace signed him.

  11. Had this too, but we had one history teacher who used to love subbing in for a PE teacher that was off, Mr Fenton he was called, and he'd be grinning like a cheshire cat at the entrance to showers and making sure you got 'wet all over'. We all knew he was a complete perv but at age 11/12/13, you just shrug it off.
  12. The commentators were all over it mind, mentioned that Darlow did exactly what Sels did.
  13. Are you him?? The more he posts, the more I think it is tbh. Hi Christian!
  14. Did Vardy score like 90 in the championship? 128 IIRC.
  15. Lol loved that commentary "Jonjo Shelvey is having a drink.. with Rafa Benitez".
  16. Yep. This is gonna be horrific when the full extent of it is known. Ideal profession to get in to for these predators with young, impressionable kids trying to do the best they can to succeed and trusting the adults (coaches) around them. Sickens me to the core.
  17. Is Gallows Atsu's jealous, older brother or something. There's so much hate, but you can't deny the love behind most of the posts
  18. It's not knee-jerk to suggest that selecting Sels was an abysmal decision. Playing your weaker keeper in the cups is fairly standard tbh.
  19. No knee-jerk from me here, he's not going to win every game and every gamble's not going to come off. Looking forward to Friday.
