We don't have the technical ability to place accurate forward passes that cut out opposing players, so we can't get the ball forward that way. We don't have anyone that can take the ball past someone except Perez, who is already up front and due to the previous reason doesn't get the ball anyway. The only other option is lump it long and hopefully he can do something that means we don't lose possession and lets the rest of our team gain some ground and push up a bit. As soon as opposing teams look to man mark him when we've got the ball at the back, we're going to be fcked again.

The whole sacking process still makes me chuckle, he's gonna have to vote on it and sit at the table with other the guys also voting

How refreshing is it for a manager to actually use common sense. Been saying this for years that you need strikers to help make space for creative players. The harder working / more physical the better, as long as they provide a threat so they don't get ignored. I thought Riviere after his first couple of games might do this for Perez but he was proven to be turboshite quite quickly. Had Perez even played for us in Riviere's first couple of games? I stand corrected, I wrote about him making space for Cisse. Same logic though. Have we ever seen Perez and Riviere up top in a flat 4-4-2?

An American-style draft system is pretty much the only way to try to level things out, short of changing of employment and sporting law to limit the impact of money in the game. But with our whole tiered league system it'd be a complete Mess. In a pure format, can you imagine the next up and coming Rooney being drafted by Chelmsford City as first pick on a lengthy contract Who would train the kids too? All the academies for every club snuffed out in a heartbeat, would fall upon schools to bring through our talent instead I'd imagine. Maybe some sort of regionalised localization of drafting..

Although he's definitely effective in the middle, I think he can be even more devastating coming in from wide like you said as a wide forward, the Hazard role. He's got space and the opportunity to take on only one defender at a time from out wide. In the middle he does a very good job of making the best of a situation when he has the ball but he's so pressured. De Jong on the inside flicking balls on to Ayoze is something I really want to see, with Mitrovic pulling defenders across the park making space for either of them.
