  1. I cannot see, legally, how it can be changed - businesses being businesses. The only way to get it changed would be the monopoly argument. Otherwise the only way I can see is if a seperate body to UEFA/FA was formed and created it's own leagues, maybe you'd see an exodus of teams from uncapped to capped leagues at the end of Season X/Y. But for the record, I think the structure of the American NFL is far superior, even down to the drafts - I'd rather kids were only allowed to play for their school teams and would get drafted like that.
  2. Mr C. Ronaldo? Bigger accomplishment what he's done in the last couple of seasons in the EPL (undisputedly a much higher quality league) I'd say. Larsson at Celtic? NB - Messi is awesome but lets not go overboard? I'd have to disagree, the spanish league is not far off the premiership at all. Some would argue it's better, not me though. And for me Messi is special in a way that Ronaldo isn't. Fair enough Ronaldo produces more, is more consistant, has the better physique etc but Messi does things that only the special ones can and he has whatever it was that Maradona had. Not sure what you would call it but Ronaldo doesn't have that. Larsson was fantastic but he's in the next tier of great players for me. I was simply drawing what I thought was a fairly obvious parallel of players seeming better when playing against lower quality opposition and often with lower quality team mates - I wasn't meaning in any way that Larsson is in the league of greats, far from it. If a team is set up to work off one man then that man will be a legend - Shearer at Blackburn, Le Tiss at Southhampton, Sheva at Milan. All played beyond themselves and when put in a regular formation without the whole team geared up for them alone they were no where near as good as they were before. Don't get me wrong, I loathe United, but for me, Christiano is miles ahead, he's pretty much a perfect footballer.

  5. In Nigerian culture, disembodied spirits are often jovial, as depicted by the effect the orbs are having on our number 9.
  6. Well, tbf, judging kinnear on 'if he wins the fa cup' is on a par with shola getting 15 goals a season, you'd stick with both, but neither are ever going to happen.
  7. What a load of fuking tosh. Because? Where is your personal experience/evidence? Random flaming with no actual base? When you work on a daily basis with those who don't have an advanced level of English and where it is a second language, your way of speaking naturally drops so that you can be understood and you do pick up the intonations, accents and elocution of their interpretation of English. This is efficient and natural for most people, it means you are understood and do not have to repeat yourself and is not taken as offensive in any way by those you area communicating with. Done this for years myself and my way of speaking has changed at least 4 or 5 times.

    Im Impressed

Needed thread. Let's get behind him now. There's gonna be a rocky transition and I just hope we're not calling for his head in 4 months like a lot of people on this board have a habit of.
  10. So technically he never actually scored in Europe did he Technically, I think he did. If you define Europe as a competition - yes. I was making the point that Europe could be defined as a location. Clearly you already realise this and the humor mill isn't available to less frequent posters. Aye, but Ireland's in Europe, you prat. Have to say that's pretty golden D'oh.

  12. Apparently, when you don't want to sell something you cook the books to make it look more attractive to potential buyers. [Calling common sense, calling common sense... you have been ordered to report to CaliMag's posts as soon as possible...] Books were cooked not to lure an investor but to fool fans. Shepherd seemed to be making lots of noises that he wanted ownership of the club.

  15. And then the fans would turn on him? He kept him as long as possible until his position as chairman was tenuous by not sacking him. Devils advocating here
  16. Was thinking about this and it seems to make a lot of sense. Has it already been mentioned that a big reason behind Newcastle's decline from greatness in the post-Robson era could be due to intentional destruction of the club by Shepherd to lower the share price so that he can gain control of the club? Too tired to post examples, but he's certainly done his utmost to blame the managers entirely for the failure of the club with his catchphrase 'We always back our managers'.. meaning, what more could we have done?. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I really doubt that his level of intelligence is as low as some posters lead others to believe.
  17. Would love it to be true. It'd certainly open up another European spot... But Spurs will be there or thereabouts come the end, don't you worry. Im not worrying as they won't be. Expect a shock then mate. Do you have a soft spot for Spurs? They are rubbish. People bang on about Berb but he is terrible away from home, JJ is rubbish, Robbo is a joke and dont even get me started on Dawson. Tut, tut, don't you know we're just the luckiest team in the league, after all Spurs have a world class chairman, manager, defense, midfield, attack, scouting network, transfer policy, tea lady, etc. It's a complete freak that we're ahead of them in the league, have conceded less and scored more goals with our reserve team playing for most of the season considering we have the worst chairman, manager, defense, midfield, attack, scouting network, transfer policy, tea lady, etc in the league. Give it a rest ffs. I said they had a better squad than us. And you back that up by claiming we've had to play with our reserves most of the time. Every single Spurs player is way overrated, rather like ours. Difference is because most of them are young and English, you think they are better than they actually are. Only person that'd get in our first choice 11 from their team is King imo. The rest are overhyped, overpriced, never-will-be's.
  18. Don't we already do that? As Taylor is our only 'proper' defender
  19. Well lets face it, if Rooney starts doing given in a match then we'll start conceding around 800 goals a game with no defenders either.
  20. If this City had more than 1 club then not renewing would be an option. The fact is there is too much demand for the tickets for ppl not to buy them to make an effect. You will just be replaced by people who have even less intelligence who just want to see the games and don't care about the background matters. IF you want to make a change, there's only one way.. demonstration. Tried and tested, sound your disapproval in games, show your disapproval outside the grounds before and after matches, show your disapproval with flyers/handouts/t-shirts. Will never happen tho.

    David Edgar

Would have to say I'd be happy with a back 4 of ---------------------GK-------------------------- Solano-------Taylor-------Edgar--------Huntington Until the end of the season anyway, bit of a knee jerk from me on Edgar/Huntington but I think having nobby at right back is really going to help them out. I can't believe some of the criticism aimed at Solano from this board. It's all coming from <18 years old kids who don't even remember when Solano was signed or what his best position was when he came here. He played his whole life at Right Back for Boca Juniors, and that's no mean feat. Maradona adored him and I really think we lost something when we converted him to RW. Personally, I'm less of a fan of 'roving' full backs who just run all round all day with no ability, a la Carr, Baba, Lauren etc. Much prefer ball playing full backs such as Solano. They provide an easy pass from the central defenders and have the quality to deliver the ball effectively up the field. /rant over It's all about getting the basics right, Ramage can't do that ergo he shouldn't be in our team, let alone our squad, and should have had his contract terminated long ago. Bramble should have been offloaded after 2 seasons max when it was clear he was never going to improve. Moore would be a good choice in CB, he gets the basics right, however he's always injured and I'd value stability over ability when it comes to defence and would prefer a stable back 4. Carr isn't the same after his injury, he can't tackle and he seems worse than Parker (some feat) in his ability to run around aimlessly like a lost puppy chasing a headless chicken. Babayaro has always been dire.. yet the 4 players I've just described are near enough Roeder's first choice back 4. Roeder needs to learn fast that experience counts for nothing when you simply don't have the ability to do a job effectively. If Roeder has the bollocks to field the above defensive team we might stand a chance of a good future. But I keep getting the feeling that Roeder plays too much FM and knows less about Managing a football team or managing people than I do.
