I saw somehwere that before Nobby joined us first time, it was either Pele or Maradona that said he was the best RB in South America at that time, where he used to mostly for Boca or whoever he was playing for.

Pardew Gone, Curbishley In (3pm press conference)
colinmk replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
Wonder what odds you would of got on Pardew getting sacked before Roeder at the start of the season. Probably quite decent. -
It's surely a combination of things, the defence is 500% better without Carr and Bramble imo. Butt is doing what Parker should be doing. Our wingers play like proper wingers and Martins/Sibi have hit some decent form together. Not to mention the fact we have Given back. He's a machine not a keeper.
-
definately not, hes not the quickest since hes 32. Good player though, for a free transfer and low wages i wouldnt turn up my nose at him until the end of season. I think he will be a very good assistant/manager when he retires also.
-
Fair play to Glenn hes doing well and not using the injuries as an excuse for previously faltering. Cant fault him for that. Taylor nad either Moore or Ramage should always be the centre pairing for me. Get Titus out in a few weeks and a good replacement and a left back and the back 4 starts to look not too shabby.

With the quality of wide players and strikers in the premiership 3-5-2 would be suicidal.

I fear this to be true. I agree. He would be a good mentor to Taylor and Ramage but as you correctly say the pace would be too much for him.
-
Yeah i'd like to see that also but cant see Glen trying it.
-
Total slimeball, will get sent off numerous times, is an average player overall. Would be better than Carr but the other factors which come with him would make it questionable if its worth getting him to replace Carr.
-
Yeah hes very good, a solid leader who reads the game well. Hes quite old though and lacking a bit of pace. I have my doubts that he would be able to keep up with the constant pace of the premiership but he could be good, just the type of guy to show a bit of leadership to Taylor and Ramage.
-
Yeah hes not getting a game, only had a few sub-appearances,think hes wanting to go on loan or something.
-
Yes he's very good, great wee playmaker, plays out on the left a fair bit for Celtic but imo is best just behind the strikers, scores goals and is very good at set-pieces.

Surley even if the Halls sell today its not going to be all over and done in time for the transfer window? they would effectively loan the club the money prior to the takeover going through Cant see them giving Glenn £25m. Do you mean if they have appointed a new manager then he will get it? Haha, yeah. "Right, there's £1.5m to pay off Roeder, £500,000 to bring in *******, and £25m for HIM to spend...you got that Fred?" "Um, oh yes, us Geordies understand. *Gets on phone to PSV*. Hello, is Kluivert available?" :winking: My main point was that they are not going to give Glenn £25m to spend in Jan when undoubtedly they will have plans to bring in their own guy and let him use the cash wisely.

Oliver's always talking shite so the 6'4 centre half could range from a 5'6 goalkeeper to a 6'9 fitness coach...wouldnt read too much into it.
-
Do you seriously think that if O'neill had of been offered the job at SJP he would have accepted. What with the fat controller and the Halls at his back and Shearer ready to step in when everything looked rosey.Give the man so credit for intelligence. Hit the nail on the head. M'ON is far too intelligent to walk into that set-up. For a start it makes his job 100% harder. What premiership manager needs that sort of hindrance from the very start?
-
Beattie would be a good option right now, but how much would he cost? Is he playing regularly for Everton and is he scoring? Last time i checked he wasn't doing so well, maybe a move would suit all parties. Nah he's not getting a game at Everton. He's grabbed a couple of goals - a respectable amount i think considering how much he's played I wouldnt say no to Hartley, but Pressley's getting on and Gordon wouldnt come. He's too good to be second choice here. Pressley's 33 - by my reckoning he's got a good 3 (possibly more) years left in him, and he does read the game very well - I agree with Dunedin on that. Gordon would be a good signing for us even on loan. Pressleys a great player and a leader but he lacks pace like most 33 year olds and its asking a bit much for a 33 year to make the step up to the premiership, asking far too much imo. Gordons fantastic. Hartley again would struggle with the step up.
-
Appiahs short but hes a brute, cant see him being watched in particular though.
-
Thats the main **** up imo.
-
Bridge - at least then we have a capable left back and Taylor/Ramage/Moore to choose from at CB.
-
Peterhead are 'blue toon' i believe.

I think your probably right about him just being shite, I doubt Roeder even wanted him, probably FF as you say keeping fans happy. Who really knows though, one things for sure it shouldnt take 3/4/5 months to get fit enough to warm the 1st team bench.
