Ashton would be perfect, would give us another option up front next season. I can imagine an Ashton/Oba or Ashton/Owen partnership being very effectve in some occasions and Owen/Oba in others. Having them 3 and then Shola as the back-up would give us an excellent strike-force. Reo-cokers got a bad attitude imo, wouldnt want him. Anton Ferdinand doesn't seem tough enough to be a quality central defender.

Great result, Taylor looked excellent, midfield was solid. Obvious improvements could still be made in defence but we dont have the players at the moment to do that. Good move by Roeder leaving Duff on the bench.

10 million for Parker? i would sell him straight away for that and bring in someone who can do more of a Nicky Butt job for us in the middle. Reo-Coker is over-rated. Barton maybe or a DM in the Makelele mould from overseas. Emre and Parker as a partnership doesnt work so if someone bids 10 million for one of them it should be accepted unless Emre is going to be leaving in the summer.

Sounds to me like the whole Ferguson thing has been a way of PLG getting out of the club and his reign which has gone tits-up. Maybe was a good thing he went to Rangers and not Newcastle. Was Lyon his only managment experience before Rangers?

Crouch isn't good enough. For being almost 7 foot tall he doesnt score nearly enough headers imo. I'd keep the money and go for Ashton either now or at the end of the season. Crouch would cost what about 7-8 million? Could get another striker in Jan, not a bank breaker then go for Ashton in the summer whe hopefully West Ham are being relegated or not doing so well. A front 4 of Ashton/Owen/Martins/Ameobi would be pretty damn good.

Good advice, im back home the now didn't see this until today. The Park Bar is decent, i have also had the steak pie bluebiggrin.gif . Its quality. Also a place i go to more often is The Captains Rest on Grt Western Road. Its just up from St Georges Cross underground. If you ask the owners they might put the game on one of the wee tv's if its on at the same time though, its owned by some scousers who are quite sound and will usually put it on. didnt know Campus had these foreign channels? Was just thinking of Gareth Bale as a possibility for the future - at 17, he's being sniffed at already by Arsenal and Man U - £7m though, means he's out of our market surely? - but I think he's been in impressive enough form this season so far to suggest he'd be a far better bet than Babayaro any road. Wes Brown or Phil Bardsley would be decent signings also. Also, that lad Whittaker (Hibs) has been reasonably impressive so far this season...could be worth a punt? If no decent RB's are available i'd wait until summer. Its a position that needs to be sorted but Nobby is doing a great job when playing, him with Ramage back-up would do until the end of the season if need be. Whittaker looks decent, probably would be fairly cheap also. I dunno about Neil, i think hes being a bit over-hyped.

I'd spend 8-9 million on 2 defenders, dont know of any decent RB's available at the moment but maybe the scouts are working hard scouring the world for one. Left back, that young guy at Ajax with the dreadlocks looks like at a good player. Baines maybe or Bale, only thing with Bale is he's very young, doubtfull if he could do a job right now. Distin should be a priority, he would be a quality leader, if not maybe Woodgate if hes gonna be cheap at the end of the season. 2 million max on a forward imo, should just be temporary signing, maybe even a loan deal would be good.

Givens one of the best on the planet, if we didnt have him i'd hate to imagine how many points would havebeen lost over the years. Once he has a stable defence i'd imagine his distribution would change somewhat and start playing it to the hopefully decent right and left backs i'd hope to have by next season/January. Nobby included as 1.

What was clear for me is that Baba doesnt know what hes doing when defending corners, a left back should either be on the post or else shadowing an attacker, more often than not on the post though, Baba was wandering around like a lost sheep.
