  1. If a top-class manager came in he would never keep any of them apart from possibly Luque.
  2. Rodolfo Arruabarrena - Villarreal is a name that jumps out at me there. He was class in the world cup or is it champions league im thing of?Experienced and an all round quality full back. Sign him up if poss.
  3. I got 2 aswell. Think im gonna flog them, would be a good piss-up but too big a money-spinner to knock back.
  4. Very encouraging reading. Seems Roeder is trying to do things properly. It's good that he's being a lot more open minded about transfers and from what he says he understands what the underlying problems are with our transfer policys at the moment. Of course only time will tell who he can get in but the type of players he's identifying could be good gambles.
  5. Offer Milner a healthy contract. Solano 1 year extension. The rest should go although judging by Roeder's inept transfer dealings we might need Sibi next season.
  6. The biggest positive for me is that the management are finally coming round to the fact that the players we have are not good enough. Although this isn't 100% nailed on that it will get sorted out, the signs are promising. Bramble, Babayaro, Carr are clearly all shite and will hopefully go. Edgar/Huntington are looking like promising players. MUCH more promising at CB than Ramage imo. Solano can play RB if need be. Milner and Martins have been very good and are some of the only players that show a bit of hunger to win games. Given's been great again but that generally goes without saying. Very lucky to still have him.
  7. It's not just Newcastle, my flatmate got one for Celtic too so i think its just some uk-wide money making scheme/
  8. I agree - it infuriates me when I read some of the sh*te talked about Bramble on this forum - he puts together 2/3 games against inferior opposition and folk start whaffling on about 'turning the corner' and 'better than Terry' (that was the funniest one ever). He is a walking liability and until we get rid of players like him, we will never be on the right track. Very true, people saying he's a squad player/good back-up etc need their heads examined also. How can a player who makes consistent mistakes be relied upon to come in for injured players etc when their mistakes always cost goals and games? Thats not a good squad player, its a shite one!
  9. You know if and hopefully when we finally get a quality left back i can see the team improving a hell of a lot. Nobby maybe can play right back but someone should also be brought in to push for that position. With stable full backs this can only help the central defenders and wingers in the team. Bramble is and always has been a shambles and the defence should also be improved just by getting shot of him. Everyone i think is in agreement that Taylor needs someone to help him become a good all-round central defender. He certainly has the ability. Only after the full backs and hopefully another central defender is brought in then we should evaluate the forward line. Not many teams in the premiership can say they have a forward line as good as Martins/Owen/Dyer/Ameobi/Sibi but obviously Owen will be judged if he overcomes his injury fully after the summer.

    Huntington

You know f*** all tbh.. Roeder like it or not knows more about the game then you will EVER know

    Bramble

Not really, no, he's so s**** it doesn't matter about detail. I hope to god all of the "keep him as a back up" fans have shut up for good now. This is exactly it, i don't know why people go on about him having a good tackle or the pace to be a top premiership defender when he does the worst thing a defender can do (makes blatant goal costing mistakes) in almost every 2nd match he plays in. He's a liability, always has been and always will be. I hope to fuck he's shown the door in the summer like he should of 2 seasons ago.
  12. You saw Brambles performance and you feel the need to single out Taylor as the defender that needs to be sold? Fucking insane.
  13. I've applied but a bit worried that if we dont get there then im not gonna bother with it. Did you just flog them to whoever on Ebay and they got in no questions asked. No form of ID required at the stadium or anything?

    Right-backs

Mark Wilson from Celtic. Very solid attacking right back, good cross, decent pace, very composed. Has had champions league experience now and is only about 22-23 i think. Celtic paid less than half a million for him so a bid of 2-3 million would be tempting for them. If we had him/Solano as the right backs i'd be delighted. Can also play left back pretty well.
  15. Agreed don't want that disease anywhere near Newcastle.
  16. Sibi, Dyer, Solano and Oba were really excellent in the first half. 2nd half defence looked a bit dodgy but Alkmaar are a good team going forward. Think we can get at least one goal in Holland. It's a shame Gooch can't play in the Uefa, Glen needs to start trying to pick a consistent back four the best he can, the goals we lose come from indecisions.
  17. Lampard without a doubt. Surprised some are suggesting Fabregas?! He's been amazing every season, continues to get better and still isn't even 20 is he?
  18. Spot on. Sacking him would achieve nothing in the long term, perhaps nothing in the short term either given the possible realistic replacements.

    The Betting Thread.

They really pissed me off today. Gone into my most hated teams list.
  20. This is exactly what my hopes would be for the team. I think we can do better than Butt as the holding midfielder. Parker if he can learn to play there properly or somebody fresh. A powerful striker will be needed i think and as you say a left back and a centre back is priority. Gooch is probably going to be the CB i think.
  21. Given Nobby Taylor Gooch Baba Milner Butt Zog Dyer Sib Martins
  22. Not about Huntelaar but just saw that Roque Santa Cruz is wanting to go to the premiership or Spain. From Skysports.com "Bayern Munich striker Roque Santa Cruz has admitted he wants to leave the Bundesliga champions at the end of the season and secure a switch to Spain or England. The Paraguay international said he was frustrated at his lack of playing time at the Allianz Arena and feels it would be better for his career to move to La Liga or the Premiership. "Spain or England would suit me best," he told AZ. "I want to play. I want to enjoy the feeling of being a footballer again - that's something I'm missing at the moment." The 25-year-old, who joined Bayern for €5million from Olimpia Asuncion in 1999, is contracted to Bayern until 2009, but feels a move would be of benefit to both himself and the club. "I don't want to earn my salary by just sitting on the bench. I don't want to pocket my cash for doing nothing." " I reckon he would be a quality partner for Owen/Martins. Would give us a big guy up front but also one that could play. Does anyone know if he's still decent? Dunno how much he'd cost though. Not as much as Ashton i reckon.
  23. I'd go for the Gullit style spending and sort out the defence. The only defenders that we have that should be guaranteed to stay are Taylor and Nobby. Gooch if he plays well then could be good for us. Edgar and Huntington are fine as reserve back-up and its up to them to try and force their way into the squad. Carr/Bramble/Moore should be sold without question. Babayaro is ok back-up for the left back but i doubt he will be happy with that. Ramage is average back-up at best for the CB position so if a decent offer came in for him then sell him. Next season defence should be : Solano/New RB with potential Taylor/Gooch/New Guy/Edgar/Huntington New LB/Babayaro Dunno who to get for RB but someone young with a lot of potential. Bale or Baines for LB. Distin/Woodgate for CB.
