Peters thread ? Thought it was just as relevant here TBH... Yup if Peters is coming, then obviously that's the end of our hope to get Debuchy

So any news on how bad the injury is?

Agreed. Hatem can count himself extremely lucky he didn't miss it. FFS, it's not like HBA is a defender who has never taken any penalties before. Our best penalty taker is probably Shola and in his absence any of Ba, Cisse or HBA are competent enough to put away a penalty. As far as I'm concerned, HBA earned that penalty out of nothing and he had every right to take it. If he miss, then that's just unfortunate. You can't possibly conclude with any certainty that Ba would have scored, in fact if you remember, Ba missed the last penalty he took for us. Isn't it common practice NOT to let the player who won the penalty take it? Either way, these things shouldn't be decided on the pitch, but off it in match preparation, and it was clear from Ba's reaction that he was the designated penalty taker. Don't think it's common practice as such, some teams do that when the player fouled was taken down badly and might be affected psychologically. This was the complete opposite, when HBA got the ball from the corner, he went straight for the box, he was looking to get the winner even if it was through a penalty. Far from being affected by the trip in the box, it made him even more confident because he got what he was looking for (a chance to score the winner). As for the designated penalty taker, you're right to the extent that Ba wanted the penalty but whose to say that he was the designated penalty taker? It could be a case of him just wanting to score the winner too. At the of the day, nothing wrong with players wanting to take responsibility to get the 3 points, as long as team spirit is not affected and in this case it wasn't.

Like the way he took responsibility to get the 3 points because we will need him to do that this season
-
Had a good game. The only player along with Santon who looked match fit which is surprising given that he was supposed to be behind the rest
-
What this tells me that our pre season has been shit because all the pathetic passing can only mean the likes of Cabaye, Tiote and Jonas are just not match fit
-
if that's not a penalty of a player who hasn't been bought over, I don't know what is. Grandmas take stronger shots than that

and hamstring is one of those that can turn out pretty bad. Why oh why, the season hasn't even started and we're already losing key players! -
Although a new RB will be the biggest improvement to our first team, given that Shola is next in line (for one month) if Cisse and Ba leaves for ACON, strikers are arguably more urgent. still not convinced that Carroll is the answer to replace Cisse and Ba, but agree for us to get him back if it is under 10M
-
Because he wants to talk to the manager to understand his plans first?

So any confirmation of who will be out besides HBA? -
He will play alongside Tiote, not sure why every time we make a signing a player in that position has to be leaving. Same thing happened when we signed Cisse, everyone said Ba would leave. Because some just have to find a reason to be depress even when we are about to make a signing

Correct me if I'm wrong, for the last few years, I can't think of any 'deal' where we agreed fee with the selling club but failed due to disagreement on personal terms with the player. Maiga was different as we didn't want him period.
-
Ok so we know his natural position is DM and can play LB at a push. But how good is he? 6-8M for a 21 year old is quite high by our standards.
-
Milner trying to take credit for a failed cross that led to the goal :-)
-
Milner is so out of place (and useless) in this City attack, it's not even funny!
-
Then why is it that the Lille chairman said that our offer was significantly undervalued? You think 1-2M = significantly undervalued. Many on here seems to want to think that we are very close to the asking price so that they can just repeat the whole 'just throw in the extra million fecker' mantra but in reality (based on Lille's reaction) to our latest offer, looks like we're much further than its being made out to be
-
Good point, but when people say just throw in another 1-2 million and we'll get him, what are they basing this on aside from the what their Chairman says. If its just a guess based on the assumption that they will meet us somewhere in the middle, then that's all it is, a guess and should not be drummed on as if it's a certainty.
-
So if according to Seydoux, our second offer was a "drastic undervaluation", can the people who keep saying that all we need to do is throw in another million or two just shut up, unless you think 1-2 million is the difference between an offer being accepted and one being drastically undervalued in which case, you're just dumb

Wasnt it just because by the time the hearing was over we would have been well into the games in Portugal. Sure I read he has just been training here instead. That being said, as much as I love the bloke, things always seem to be difficult with him. Nothing ever seems straight forward. Ya but couldn't he just fly back to France from wherever our pre season is just on the hearing day itself? Why does he have to be in France whilst waiting for the hearing?
-
Dont get it. Why is his disciplinary issue with the national team preventing him from joining our pre season tours/friendlies?
-
What I really want to know is how is Spurs getting off playing Bale when he withdrew from the Olympics because of 'injury'?
