And then what do we do? Xisco and Carroll up front?
-
Hmm,was our old "forum member"now banned forever, involved with Folkestone? No, Folkestone isn't really in the Invicta area of Kent, don't know why they're called that really. He was living in the Invicta area (or had done or something), more northern Kent iirc.
-
Just got back from homelands, the mighty Ashford town dicked Folkestone Invicta 1-0.

to be fair heskey was pulled back constantly for about 20yds so the ref could have pulled it up at any point. at no point after entering the box did bassong do anything likely to stop heskey proceding. Exactly, it was the wrong decision. Play should have been brought back to the original impedance. Whether it was a red or not is another matter but as I remember it he was the last defender so it was in all probability a red card. I'd have to see it again though. there was defo a pull just outside the box aswell. the ref coyuld have done it then had he wanted. the ref can pull it back to whichever foul he sees fit.whichever one he thinks will give most advantage to the team fouled against. But once he's done that, should Heskey still get booked for diving, or does it go overlooked?

33 serious applicants my arse

So to ask a ref, I assume that it should have been brought back for a yellow card to Bassong and a free kick approx 10 yards outside the area. Should Heskey also have been booked for 'simulation'?
-
Maybe so by the ref, but we shouldn't let that cloud the fact we were noticeably second best.
-
And Heskey My first thought too...
-
You can't tell people Heskey cheated, he's English you know.

Problem is, that tactic isn't allowed against Liverpool. Remember 3 or 4 years ago when Shearer & co kicked Arsenal off the park? I'd like a repeat of that please chaps. Just get into them from the first whistle and twat them. That was classic actually, Parker was awesome that day. And actually on the day the worst challenge by far was Lehmann on him, couldn't believe that wasn't a red.

Nah, we got a point off them at home.
-
we all knew that surely. No industry, pace or shooting ability from outside the box Didn't Dukes score a beauty from outside the area against Fulham at home at the end of last year?
-
If it had been a foul rather than a dive in the area I might have agreed. But you're wrong.
-
Wigan deserved to win, but it could all have gone so differently. Heskey clearly dived (although was fouled outside the area) and I reckon that could have been a penalty with the last touch. Crazy game really.

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
Mowen replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
why can't he just shut his fucking mouth? What's wrong with that like? What's right with it like? Letting people know we won't overpay for players? Or letting them know how much we are willing to spend gives them an idea of our budget. They'd probably get an idea of what we were looking to spend when we made a bid. I wasn't just talking about the team we're trying to do business with though. Other teams will have an idea as well, which is one thing I've praised this regime about is not airing transfer dealings in public like we have done in the past. Then we have this gobshite in charge. Can't see the problem in saying we won't overpay for players though. Me neither. Which is all he has to say, he doesn't have to mention any figures. Not that I believe him anyway mind. Yeah, precisely. "We haven't met their evaluation yet" would have sufficed, surely? Instead of letting the world know what we're going to spend. He's done this constantly re: transfers, very similar to Roeder. And looked what happened with him in the one January window he got. We ended up with Gooch. Just shut up, man. (Not you Tooj) No need to put that part in brackets in. Let him make his own mind up. -
Yup. That injury took it's toll on him, he was still class at Madrid btw, their record when he played to when he didn't was ridiculous. But he's definitely lost some of his pace, his reading of the game is as good as ever mind. Didn't really see him at Madrid, but he just doesn't quite look the class act now he did for us, although he is starting to regain a bit of it at Spurs imo. Things like Viduka outmuscling him and scoring at the start of last season just shocked me. Could have been one of the best players in the world if he somehow could have kept himself fit.

It's funny what a couple of wins can do, isn't it. Not really, I've always been a 2 on the relegation-ometer But looking at the table we're the same distance (both points and places) from Europe as we are the relegation zone iirc. Both are extremely unlikely, but not to be altogether discounted, especially with the league as it has been this season.
-
Woodgate was world class for us. Hasn't looked the same player since he's been back in England imo.
-
I don't think he ever intended on signing, but if we nip into Europe (low chance, not impossible) he might stay. Always assumed he'd be off at the end of the year anyway.
-
Your posting on an internet forum, the only way is up from here. You're. See, up isn't the only way.

I think we won 3-1 in 07/08, I can't remember who scored though. You'd probably better ask Skeletor.
-
Good post, like the historical aspect.
-
So do I, I think he's good at kicking a football and that.

no ambition ? Villa bigger and more ambitious than Newcastle ? Well, they acted it in the past, but not since 1992 they haven't been, until now that is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't N'Zogbia make noises about leaving when the previous regime was incumbent? Yes, but please let's not have a discussion about 'regimes', let's all agree Bassong is great and have a good sexy Christmas time. I concur twice over.
