  1. It's noticable that the first year Curbs was no longer Charlton manager their period of outstaying their welcome in the top flight came to an end.
  2. Exactly. Won't stop everyone spitting nails if/when a goal for Owen is described as good news for England though.
  3. I would assume that this, along with the Drenthe deal which looks to be as good as done, puts an end to any interest in Robben.
  4. Disagree with you about booing an individual NM, but that's a great point about supporters refusing to accept they could have been wrong.
  5. Also, with Bellamy in for Tevez, Parker in for Reo-Coker and Ljungberg in for Benayoun I'd say that their first team is worse, on paper, than last years. Edit: I have missed out Faubert there, don't know much about him though.
  6. Complacency does strange things to people TT. The chairman seems to think that he is the person responsible for Bolton's rise. Sometimes fans become equally complacent. The manager is the most important person in a football club, underestimate his worth to you at your peril. I was watching the Jimmy Hill show this morning [without Jimmy Hill ] and they were saying that Bolton will suffer badly without Sam and could even go down, if they try to change too much or they can't shake out of his shadow. They could be right. Likewise our dear cockney eastenders, who should be down already. I'm quite impressed with the backing this icelandic bloke has gave his manager, but pretty much like we did with Souness, he's backing a knackerjack of a manager. Other than that, I think the Wigan may go down, that Chris Hutchings doesn't seem to have much about him, and they are too small to survive now that Jewell too has gone. West Ham have got one of the lowest net spends in the prem this transfer window iirc, they've re-couped a lot of money losing Tevez, Reo-Coker, Konchesky, Harewood, Mears and Benayoun.
  7. Agree strongly with one of the points in this thread, whilst it can be (depending on your viewponit) acceptable to boo the team, booing an individual is indefensibleand massively counter-productive.
  8. Mido is a talented player but I can't believe anyone would bid above £4m. Partly because he's worth no more, when you take all the baggage into account, but mainly because he's 5th choice at Spurs and will never play. How can they hold a team to ransom over him?
  9. Maybe this'll convince people that it's not just us and Owen who get this treatment.

    Today's Games

I have to say that the first game of the season confirmed my belief that Spurs would have done much better spending £16m on midfield than attack. Bent is class but Spurs fielded 4 wank to mediocre central mfs today, they've got lennon but they need wingers and a class cm if they're ever going to challange for 4th. I really rate the spuds as a team but they need to sort out their midfield if they're ever going to be a 'serious' team.

Did anyone spot the ex-apprentice contestent Adam Hosker celebrating in the crowd when that goal went in? Big rovers fan apparently, has been hanging around them ever since he got fired!
  12. Made some changes in the last 2 minutes Pienaar in for Osman and Eboue in for Faye
  13. I think it's worth having players whose value will rise noticably over the season in at the start even if it's not the right week for them to be in/they're going to miss a gamed or two - Tevez and Baines being the most obvious such selections. I'm Cech Geremi R Ferdinand Kaboul Ronaldo © Essien Reo-Coker Osman van Persie Tevez Berbatov Niemi Baines Abadoulaye Faye Teale half a mill to spare
  14. Surely "THudd" is the worst. Certainly not as good as MOwen.....
  15. Shows how much attention I pay to my betting. Alright then, a tenner on Everton to beat Wigan at 1.9! I've got Sunderland Derby and Wigna to go down as well, but could onnly get it at 18/1, stuck a sneaky £2 on it though.
  16. Got a tenner on Villa to beat wigan at 1.9 with betfair and 3 quid on spurs to do sunderland at 2.45
  17. Why would any club bid more than £2m for Mido? It doesn't make sense. He's going to be 5th choice at Spurs, they'd hardly be in a position to reject any bids.
  18. Did you not read my post? You should have gone with Charlton and AC
  19. Ideal situation is them coming 17th every season with us always getting 6 points off them as far as I'm concerned. Maybe the odd relegation thrown in.
  20. Was it not a jar of salad cream mate ? Pretty sure Canizares injured his foot by dropping a bottle of aftershave on it just before a world cup.
  21. Someone's already mentioned it, but the votes are showing a lovely bell distribution
  22. Good club for him to go out to, and nice that we have enough of a squad we can afford to let our prospects go out on loan. Wasn't Huntington meant to be going to Argyle last year before we decided we didn't have enough defenders?
