Average Premiership players but in this league that's very good. Think Harewood's pace & strength will do us good mind, though i've not seen too much of Khizanishvilli so no idea how he's going to improve but it does boost the squad numbers, least now if one of Taylor or Colo gets injured were not entirely fooked. My old housemate's a Rovers ST holder, said Zurab's a good player, will easily be good enough for the championship. He also said he was much, much better for them than Simpson was.

End of the month. By the Forest game.

I'd let Nolan play. -
Enrique and Loven looked to be having a slagging match on about the half way line in the first half, couldn't tell why though.
-
It's his preferred position but I don't think we'd lose all that much by moving him to the right. Can only remember him playing on the right against stoke (home and away) off the top of my head, sure there're more examples though. If we can get a higher quality LW than RW in on loan I'd be happy for him to switch. Enrique like Jonas infront of him, provides cover and enables Jose to attack more. True, they do seem to work very well together.

I agree we need someone who is ready, wingers are the weakest point in the squad atm, but I wouldn't move Kazenga on as it stands. We'll need him at some point this year, and he'll learn from his first team experiences.
-
Hopefully Ranger will get a start alongside either Loven or carroll and sign off with a goal against Peterborough. Yep, would be good to see him start again tomorrow. I'd give Carroll a rest personally, and give Loven some more match fitness.

Thoughts with you, Cath. Hope the news is good.

Scored on Saturday didn't he? edit: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,60541.msg1989331.html#msg1989331

Utterly ridiculous. He'll clearly get his chances over the course of this season and we'll find out if he's up to it, there's no need to rush him in. He'll play tomorrow night and I'd wager he'd have come on for a few minutes at the end on Saturday if we'd had a substitution left. Getting results is what matters first and foremost and Hughton's clearly going about this in as risk-free and uncontroversial way as possible.

Agree, but the man should have scored three times the number he did And you have to ask if it was Shearer and Souness, why does he keep moving on, or BEING moved on, every couple of seasons if it isn't his fault ? I don't think anyone would argue Bellamy isn't a prick who brings it on himself, but when someone's clearly your best player (as he was when he left us) you have to hope the management will have the ability to keep him on side and helping the team. He was partly to blame for his departure, but we needed him more than he needed us, and we should have done more to keep him imo.

Where does he play? Get him in ahead of Butt. -
I wish we'd try Jonas on the right. He's simply not a left winger, can't do anything with his left foot at all but yet we persist in playing him there. We need a decent left winger in on loan, then we'll have a very solid first 11 if we switch Jonas over to the right where there's a chance he might actually be productive. He can't do much with his right either. Pretty sure he is a left winger, although imo there's not much to choose between the two when it comes to his best position. If we can get a decent winger for either side (has to be a priority imo) in then just play Spidey on the other side.

Epic isn't it. Took me a fair old while to clock who the bald one was during warm up.

"Nolan you fucking cunt, stop sitting on the ground whinging and start playing you lazy fucker"

From pub opening hours. Just started watching the series titled that. Fucking great so far. Two quality series. Love it.

Thought Barton was poor again on Sat, and in the middle this time. The only time he's really delivered for us was in the good run under KK, I don't know what's wrong with him. The ability's in there somewhere but I have my doubts as to whether we'll ever really see it. Can see him losing his place soon with Nolan and Smith looking nailed on to start every game and Guthrie looking better on current form.

I'd start Ranger and Loven up front together, Carroll has played 2x90mins after his injury now, start him on the bench. Give Kadar, Krul and LuaLua starts as well. They'll need to play some part this season no doubt so I'd rather they were blooded in a non-league match. Would probably look to rest as many first teamers as possible, get the likes of R Taylor and Butt starting. The last thing we need is more injuries to important players. Actually quite looking forward to the match, managed to get a half day for it. -
First chance I've had to log on since the match, a few random musings. Nolan was fucking woeful until he scored; lazy, sloppy, slowed play down and never got up with Carroll. Perked up a bit thereafter. Enrique had a very poor game, worst I've seen from him for some time, very nearly cost us a goal first half giving the ball away in the corner and his passing was poor throughout. Barton was anonymously wank (in the middle this time, no wing excuses). Carroll was MOTM for me, looked a different player once he had a strike partner, worked well with Ranger. Promising signs there. Going two up front changed the match, although why we didn't do it from the outset baffled me. Poor performance overall apart from the last 25 minutes or so, but good to get winning again.
