  1. Bollocks. He's ok - nothing more, yet most people on here won't even acknowledge that (instead, he's the anti-Christ). Does saying that mean I'm as happy with Colback as I would be with Cabaye? Does it f**k. Of course he's a massive downgrade. Is that depressing? Yes. But does that mean he's worse than sh*te? No. Seriously man, I have seen dozens of midfielders worse than Colback play for us. I've probably seen two better than Cabaye. Get a grip. Well you proved my point so not sure why you're angry about it. In no way should we be 'getting a grip' for being unhappy that we've replaced a class player with an extremely mediocre player. Not my point. I was referring to your spurious claim that the "majority of supporters" had suddenly decided he is a worthy successor to Cabaye, when all they have actually done (the "Rob Lee without the goals" lunatic aside) is be pleased he's had a couple of decent games.

  3. Genuinely done well recently. Couldn't give a f*** if he doesn't contribute in the final third if his presence gives Sissoko even more licence to do his thing. Sad, but not unexpected, that some people can't acknowledge as much.
  4. Precious few would have surfaced so soon after a monumental self tucking. Fair play to you.
  5. Even he played well today. Actually tried to effect the game for a change. He seemed to be pressing very effectively today instead of just ambling around. Thought this was actually Colback's best performance so far. He outshone Henderson, for me. Don't know how anyone can argue with you there. Truly frightening, the level of cluelessness among many on here.
  6. It's a load of drivel though, as we had the second best defence in the league that season despite what the press tell you. We lost the league because Ferdinand's arse fell out, and also Lee stopped scoring for about 3 months too. If we'd have had Shearer for that run-in we would have won it, due to him being a lot tougher mentally than Sir Les. So I can totally understand why Keegan decided to bring him in. I've never heard anyone blame Ferdinand and Lee before. Is this a commonly held view? No. I agree with the point re Ferdinand, and know many others who went home and away every week back then who agree too. He lost it at the worst possible time - a moment of composure from him v Man Utd at home for example, and we'd have made it.
  7. This. And I also have to say it's far easier for people on here who don't attend to call for mass vocal protests than it is for fans at the game itself to grasp the nettle. Do people honestly expect all fans at the match - season ticket money spent, many of them accompanied by kid(s), others just glad to be out of the house and on the lash, many not naturally inclined to take an individual stand and draw attention to themselves - to actively celebrate opposition goals? Depressing it may be that the ferocity of the anti-AP feeling on here - totally justified as it is - is not reflected in the matchday atmosphere. But life is far simpler online. *fixes chinstrap on tin hat*
  8. Embarrassing thread title. Colback has had a couple of poor games, but Jesus wept.
  9. Not for me. If McGregor had done his job at his near post on Saturday...

    Andy Cole

Experiencing it as an adult was special. Watching that magic happen and appreciating how different it was from the norm, man. Thinking "OMG This has to get rammed in the long term memory because it won't last". Like a 2 year sporting orgasm This. To those of us who thought being "spoilt" was Paul Goddard or Micky Quinn, it was unbelievable that we finally had a striker who simply looked unplayable - against anybody.
  11. Ffs, Alan Oliver ran with this in the People before Bailey published his shite. End. Of. Story.

    Hillsborough

Some staggering views expressed here re "why are we still banging on about this?". Before posting such shite, people should properly acquaint themselves with the huge array of evidence now available of not just astonishingly incompetent, insensitive and criminally negligent policing but the full extent of the cover-up (which DID extend to rank and file coppers) and ask themselves what the f*** THEY THEMSELVES would be doing - 25 years after the event - other than ask for justice for the son/husband/father/daughter who died (at a f***ing football match) as a result, and were subsequently smeared as drunken yobs who more or less had it coming. People answered for Heysel in the criminal courts. The negligence which caused the Bradford fire was addressed in the courts. Hillsborough? There hasn't even been a proper inquest until now, let alone a single individual answer a criminal charge. What the f*** are the "why bang on about it" brigade on?
  13. You love him to start with, then the love turns to hatred Yeah basically think he'd do alright upfront though Shame we'll never get to find out...

    Hatem Ben Arfa

NUFCfans.co.uk ‏@nufcfans 6m Ben Arfa has a strike which is going wide, but Cissé gets a head on it to nod it past Speroni and win it for #NUFC! 1-0.
  15. He probably performed better than at any time this season in a game when he was taken off (cheers Pards) - second half against Man City - as one of a three rather than two. I'm sure we'd have got something from that game if Butthead hadn't pressed the panic button by hooking Vurn for Cisse.
  16. If they lose the final and go down they will not have had a better season than us. I still fear that they will both win the final and stay up, but at the moment I would say the odds of that are fairly short. Do you mean the odds are fairly long (ie it's unlikely)?
  17. No man, it's because they didn't try hard enough for a guy that unceremoniously dropped one out of the team and unceremoniously dropped the other out of the squad altogether. Until the transfer policy and club structure he backs dropped him in the s*** of course (though without Europa League this season I'm not sure how this is possible) and he needed them. Exactly. What sort of manager brings a player not so much out of the cold as out of deep freeze and expects him to be s*** hot?
  18. "There are people within the Football Association who think he has potential to be England manager one day.."
  19. Absolute bollocks. Bollocks indeed. A: the media have got the knives out for him - he treated them arrogantly when the going was good and he's since colluded in the local paper ban, so he has zero leeway with them now. B: finishing eighth or ninth with the quality of players he has and no Europa League to contend with is - at very best - the absolute least he could be expected to do.

    Sunderland

What a fantastically sorry piece that is. He's forced to compare FA Cup attendances with the Coppa Italia, which has never been any more important in Italy than the Johnstone's Paint Trophy is here. Imagine - just imagine - if it was us getting 16k in the fifth round. Odds on him being "bored" by attendances then...

    Sunderland

By many estimates, we took almost as many fans to Tottenham in the fifth round in 1987 (when we were in the bottom three of the top flight and odds-on to lose) as Wembley-bound SAFC mustered at home at the same stage today...
