  1. I think you are reading too much into it. He was obviously disappointed to lose him given he was already at the club, but I'm not sure we'd want to be paying big money to bring him back here.

I was surprised we paid that much but at the time I was happy we did because I was convinced he'd score the goals we lost with Isak. It was a calculated gamble on him being a crucial part of our success this season. Like I said, I don't think an experienced DOF would have signed off on it, but as a fan I was happy we did. Not sure who else we could have signed anyway.

Depends on how Wolt and Osula can do in his absence. If we can stay in touch with the top 5 then he could be crucial for the second half of the season to take us into CL. Then all is well. If we can't get a tune of of our front players while he's out, then there's a chance it could derail our season.

I thought it was a calculated risk at the time, and one worth taking given he had an excellent fitness history. But I do wonder if a proper DOF might have put his foot down for that very reason. There's no guarantees in football, and there's always a risk of an injury so they would probably have factored that in just in case.

We basically overpaid purely so we could have him this season. If he ends up missing half of it, might turn out to be very bad luck. We really need Osula to step up to take some of the pressure of Big Nick.

Fair point. Could be dating back to a similar time when Mersey clubs refused to sign black players #Isak.

    Joelinton

I'm happy for him, but isn't there a mixed opinion on his effectiveness in Brazil? I remember after one of his early matches they were more or less calling him a donkey.

No wonder Italian football fell to the scrapheap from being top of the pile a couple of decades ago.

On the plus side, it should keep him out of the next round of internationals. I get the feeling Congo are a lot less cautious than we are about using players coming back from injury.

Not that surprising tbh. He fell without anyone near him, was always looking like he'd done significant damage.

    Joe Willock

He's done here basically. Howe's run out of patience.
  12. He barely kept Spurs clear of relegation last season, with the players at his disposal, that was pretty damning. His start at Forest suggests no, he can't become more flexible in his approach either.
  13. Everton are always a well organised side under Moyes, they might play ugly football but they aren't easy to beat. Forest are in turmoil and by the looks of it struggling to transition to a totally different style of play under Postecoglu. You can never guarantee a result at this level, but their style under Ange should play right into our hands.

I mean even if another angle shows it touched his finger, it can barely have grazed it, the ball's trajectory didn't change at all. It's totally inconsequential.
  15. Opposition wingers would have a field day with that line up.

That''s what I don't understand, I thought the ref was supposed to be sent to review the decision. If he had surely he'd have just stuck with his original decision of goal?
  17. Shared heritage can be the only reason because Ange was a joke figure after his stint at Tottenham. Can't think of any other reason you would sack your most successful manager for years and replace him with a proven dud.
  18. Any time any doubt starts creeping in, you should just sit yourself down and listen to him give a press conference. He's one of the most impressive speakers I've ever heard, and that goes across any field of expertise.

    Anthony Elanga

Minteh looks more gifted, and he's really starting to blossom this season. He's filled out a bit as well, looks a powerful player now. Against that, Elanga has more pace, and that terrifies defenders. Howe has been after him for a long time so he must believe he can hone his talent further. Personally I'm not sure you can develop someone's natural touch and decision making that much, but I'm not a coach.
  20. They are just trying to line up with UEFA rules instead which probably makes sense. I think clubs like PSG probably have got round flouting those by paying a fine, so in theory we could do the same. Assuming we actually are serious about being No 1.

    St James' Park

I was thinking that. Anyway it sounds promising if it comes off. Would be a big signal of intent.

They are playing Man U? I'd assumed it was Liverpool hence the apparent dilemma. And the answer would stil be no. x 1000
  23. Just addressed this in the Forest thread, but I think the better opposition we play, the more suited he is to the game. I am really non-plussed when I hear our fans are giving him abuse, in the games I've watched this season, his ball retention under pressure has been better than most. He's not the finished product but he's definitely good enough for first team football now. I'm not a happy clapper just because he's a local either, I like him because he's a really good footballer.
  24. I'd definitely start considering Miley as a first teamer this season, but against Forest I think we'll dominate possession and the game should suit Joelinton.

    Nick Woltemade

The huge white patch plastered on the back of the shirt throws it a bit off, but I love the look from the front view.
