Players mostly want to play for the top clubs, for their own careers, and obviously because they will get paid the top rate as well. There's nothing wrong with it, it's why players will choose us over Burnley or Everton at the moment as well. One of the reasons I never get invested in rumours about players like Olise or Osimhen for that matter, if there's other mega clubs sniffing around, they'll probably go there. Right now we aren't in a position to match their offers.

Almiron's not worth that much to us either tbh. If we don't shift him this summer, more than likely he's just going to run his contract down and then walk away. I think Slot obviously rates Minteh, but if we're hearing fees of £40m being mentioned, that's probably our way of telling Liverpool to do one. We obviously aren't going to let him go cheap now that he's on our books.

Kelly has gone under the radar a bit, probably because clubs have been scared off by his injury record. If that's not an issue going forward, it seems like he could be a really top class signing for us.

If he can't save you a few millions in a year by doing his job then he's not worth having anyway. Doesn't bode well for Man U if they can't afford to release someone from his contract who they rate so highly.

The golden rule is never watch highlights videos of any player if you are emotionally invested in them coming here. If you can be dispassionate and enjoy the player for his qualities regardless of whether he ends up at Man U (fuck that) then knock yourselves out.

I think they didn't have natural goalscorers, I remember that being mentioned before our ties as well. They played really effectively against us, and they must have done something right to get to the CL final.

He'd be a good fit anywhere, his team ouptlayed us twice. I have a feeling he's going places.

Also depends on whether we see Wilson leave as if he does that means we definitely need a striker to come in. Almiron and Longstaff leaving is less certain IMO because Eddie might not be that keen on getting rid. Neither of them will want to leave either.

Nothing too exciting going on as far our public targets. Never really took the Sesko interest seriously once it was clear that Arsenal and Chelsea were in there, and same goes for Raphina rumours because the wages seem too high. The Kelly and Trafford deals seem much more realistic, and those will go through I would think. If there's really top quality signings being worked on in forward areas, I think those are not going to be revealed until the deals are more or less sealed.

Watched a compilation of Minteh from last season. He might be raw but he looks pretty damn good. Some of his finishes were class. Stick your £40m up your arse Slot. You can have Almiron instead for a cool £15m.

This was my point in the post @madras answered. I know Longstaff will happily sign a new contract and thus we won't really lose out on that fee, but at the same time we will. £15m from a homegrown will translate in multiples in FFP terms, and we could buy a genuinely exciting prospect for that money. I'm interested to see how the hierarchy deal with it as I want to see if Eales can back up his talk of being ruthless in order to advance us as a club.

You could say the same about Wilson and Almiron as well tbf, but if they all leave on a free at the end of their contracts, that's quite a chunk of change we'll miss out on in our fight with FFP.

I think he'll be reluctant to leave as well, very much seems a home boy. But Leicester's not that far, what is it about 3hrs on the motorway? Maybe he'll bite if we give him some encouragement. My only worry would be Eddie might want to keep him around, but that money would buy us plenty given the FFP restraints.
