It can only go downhill from here. Not wanting to put a dampener on anything like.

I wonder if the domination of the Big Four is coming to an end?

Ooh harsh words. I'm really writing him off there like. He's not the finished package, we all know that. All I did was made a comment about how he needs more confidence in his shooting ability, but because he's the forums w***-fester, people jump on your back. I do apologise, Nile Ranger is king of all, he is the perfect footballer and doesn't need to improve at all. Greatest player ever. f***s sake. I didnt say you were writing him off anywhere, i wouldnt really care if u were if it made sense. But theres no real basis to believe he needs more confidence in his shooting ability. Based on two games, one where he wasnt on the ball much & another where he chose to set up others instead. The lads scored 20+ last season & along with now scoring for the England U19's several times. There isnt much to suggest he's unconfident in his finishing atall. Ive seen several people suggest what you said & i just think its pretty moronic so i picked up on it. If people suggested it about a lad who consistantly tended to go out of his way to set up others, laying it off in potentially goalscoring opportunities when he looks like he has the potential to do more for himself, it would make sense. Basing any judgement off of more than a couple games, would make more sense. People making random crap determinations about the lads mentality based on one match really, makes no sense atall. Same reason you thought my statement about you was equally as clueless, because ofcourse it was. That was teh whole point. I'm not judging him ffs. I saw him play against Leceister, whilst he looked very confident with his back to goal, he looked hesitant when facing goal in that particular game. I made the statement 'I wish he hadn't been so hesitant because he probably has a good shot'. I'm allowed to comment on his performance man. I'm not gonna sit there and say 'I will not comment on this as he has only played twice'. I'm not marking him as being shit with a shot, I'm not criticising him, I'm not making a statement about him in general. I'm making an observation about his performance against Leceister. I don't really recall him getting in any real scoring opportunities in that game, the only shot he had was that one where he was falling backwards and still pinged a pretty decent effort in. You could argue that he should have got into more scoring positions but the way the side was set out with only one striket that would be a bit harsh imo.

Huh? doubt we'll see him coming out and complaning about being played on the wing now. True, he used to hate being played wide for us, but then that might have been down to Souness making sure every player was sick of his life.

I knew it was a mistake clicking on this thread.

Viduka was better technically but Shearer had a lot more ambition and desire.
-
He's got a good instinct for where the goal is though and is a natural finisher. I'm still undecided on whether he's entitled to the same excuse Owen used in that he needed chances created for him because with us and Sunderland he wasn't playing in front of the most creative midfields.

We need the numbers more than anything else. With 46 games this season plus cup games two centre backs isn't enough. Even if he doesn't make the first team straight away he should see plenty of action.

What the hell? Do you want to make up your mind? He's a Distin type i.e. quick and athletic sort but a lower standard of player is what I meant. This is not necessarily a bad thing as Distin is a very good player. Basically, he's not going to stand out at premiership level but is a good to very good defender in the championship. Erm this 'Very, very poor and wretched' doesnt suggest what you are saying at all Basically he's got the physical attributes but lacks the nous to cut it in the premier. Might be a very shrewd loan signing.
-
Had a couple of successful seasons at Hull and for Stoke in the Championship. Maybe he couldn't make the step up to the Premier?
-
Just looked at his wikipedia page and he seems to be a solid signing at this level.
-
Yeah but had he stayed that season he would have got a decent amount of game time. He obviously isn't as loyal as Shola. Shola wouldn't leave if he was 10th down the line for a striker's spot. He probably still lives with his mum.

To be fair, we're even shorter on centre-backs. Even shorter on winger, only got 1. 2, lovenkrand's i class as a winger Thats pretty much what sent his career of the tracks. Rangers did it and he never developed. He's a striker. True, Lovenkrands has openly said he doesn't like playing on the wing and from what I've seen his best games are when he's played up front. On the subject of Cort, it's a strange one. I'm assuming we must have done our homework, which is surprising in itself as we don't have a lot of staff.

I was poking fun at the fact you were highlighting Marlon Harewood's "like it or not" qualities. Nothing to do with the merits of Vokes, but I'm sure as a highly qualified and experienced coach you're able to read. Marlon Harewood might be crap by Premier standards but at this level would be a very useful addition to the squad so what macca says is pretty much on the nail though.

Chops never, ever looked like scoring though. He didn't look as inept as Shola did, but he looked much less like scoring. I think he's the type of striker who needs a team that creates chances, similar to Owen as there's not much else to his game other than goals.
-
not surprising since he's a defender.
-
It doesn't say he is expected to sign today. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/09/11/alan-smith-i-won-t-shave-until-newcastle-lose-61634-24661508/ It does say he is set to sign though, although it doesn't give a date as such. Anyone know much about him?
-
he's a typical "number 10". he can't head the ball, couldn't really tackle a dinner, not too bothered about tracking back, only uses his right foot to stand on!, is quick, strong and has a wand of a left peg and is absolute quality. Not sure the Chronicle should be doing articles like today though as its just increases the hype and pressure on the lad for when he does break into the team! It's a shame he's not much of a tackler because we are sorely lacking in midfielders who get in goal scoring positions. Nolan won't be able to cut it in the prem if we get promoted so there's a spot to fight for.
-
Great attitude and this is the sort of approach we need to let these teams looking to do a spot of giant killing know what they are in for.
-
Rumour he may start on Sunday, thats how much he has impressed. He won't be starting, it's proably just good man management by Hughton to talk him up. Hopefully it's the same with Hughton praising Nicky Butt as well.
-
Well done Chris, this award was well earned. Now prove it was your leadership by being firm in your team selection on Sunday
-
Because that way whatever happens every angle is covered for Sillius
-
Krul would have been a regular starter in most teams by now, his problem at Newcastle is that he has had two highly rated keepers holding the shirt ahead of him. He's potentially a lot better than Harper but until he gets regular games he isn't going to progress.

Yep. I have seen Argentina three times in the qualifiers and I have never seen a less organised bunch of superstars in my life. Maradonna has managed to make a potentially wonderful team get consistently bad results. It really is a remarkable achievement from the clueless dwarf.
