Stick him at left back tbh, it'll give him more space to work in!! It'll be interesting to see who ends up as first choice on the left wing. Duff can play right side, but he's not really as good there as his final ball is a bit wank, so he's not really a big threat to cut inside. Better on the left where he can get at the full-back and to the byline. So it should be one or the other, eventually, and I know who I'd want. Good to hear positive things about Emre, another who may really benefit from a team who actually try and play a bit of football.

The bumming of Beye going on in this thread is ridiculous, you'd think he was Cafu in his prime FFS.
-
It's hardly much of a source what with 1, it being The Sun, and 2, "he said this to his mates" ... but why anyone would want his character in our club anyway is a bit strange, especially given that we already have one of the best right-backs in the league, who shits all over Chimbonda. Beye has had a dozen decent performances, he in no way "shits all over Chimbonda". As a football player that is. Would seem he's a dickhead of the highest order though.

Shocked this is so lop-sided. Got to be Gazza tbh.

An Everton/Spurs final would be good for football. Sick of watching two extra "top 4" matches every single season. I agree with both of these posts, strangely enough.

We conceeded 2 goals more than Man U in 95-96, and 4 less in 96-97. TBH.

Be fairly happy with Richards in all fairness. But aren't City absolutely loaded too though? Be absolutely idiotic of them not to give Richards a big contract, he's top class.

Don't make me bump the other thread.

Keep them all tbh. I don't really rate Milner in all honesty but he can play both sides at a competent, if unspectacular, level so he's a very useful squad player. If we could bring in a top class RW I'd not be overly heartbroken to see Duff leave, though I'd rather we just kept him to compete with N'Zogbia. Bit of a pisser though in all honesty, as arguably our two most effective players are left wingers.

I've always thought Owen's first touch was pretty good personally. Owen basically needs a striker partner who will do 90% of the work in terms of build-up play and linking up with the midfield, allowing Owen to only come into the game once we get service into the box. It's why his partnership with Heskey actually works so well as Heskey, while not top class by any means, gets himself heavily involved in the game and does all the donkey work. I see Owen as a similiar sort of player to Inzaghi these days, lethal in a top class team with great service, but not someone who you want in a struggling team who won't create a whole lot of chances. Unlikely as we are to get him, I don't doubt for one minute that Berbatov is a target for Keegan as I reckon he'd do wonders for Owen. Perhaps lack of pace would be an issue, but get in a pacey RW and that'd be less of an issue. Would Berbatov and Owen up front with N'Zogbia and SWP on the flanks be too much to ask?

"They're the second best team in the world, and there's no higher praise than that." "The 33 or 34-year-olds will be 36 or 37 by the time the next World Cup comes around, if they're not careful." "You can't do better than go away from home and get a draw... " at those in particular.

Handsome bastard, by all accounts.

Pretty much. Owen was as good as gone with Allardyce here, but with a more attack minded, pass and move style of football he's now potentially a big asset for us. He'll never be the player he was, simply lost too much of his pace. But he's a very intelligent footballer, has a great first touch and links the play very well. An attack minded team could give him the service he needs to be very effective again. I fully expect him to get injured again soon though, sadly.

With great power comes great responsibility. Remember that, Peter.

I'll pray for Kev to come back for good and relight my fire. Everything changes or Could it be magic? Quite clever I guess. But this post doesn't reflect well on you overall.

Jol got a horribly raw deal at Spurs to be fair, they were consistantly improving until his realtionship with the board went tits up. Wanted Elano instead of Bent as well, apparently. I reckon there are better candidates out there, but Jol wouldn't be bad at all and would certainly bring the attacking football Ashley seems to want. Won't be him though I don't think.

I'd have Downing over Milner quite comfortably myself. Milner can be a useful Premiership player and I'm happy to keep him at the club. Can play both wings and you know he'll give you 100% every time. But he'll never be the constant difference maker you need in your team, something I believe N'Zogbia could ultimately be. Better at left-back though, of course.
-
Young is better tbh, hard to argue that. I think that ultimately he'll be better than the rest if we get a good team around him personally, though ultimately I just have a massive boner for the guy anyway. Downing and Milner don't belong on that list at all though, not in the same class.

Put it in perspective mate. We're a deflated, managerless team in a season that's going nowhere and with a team that is likely gonna be revamped entirely over the next year or so. To all intents and purposes, this match was meaningless as it was always gonna be a walk in the park. The 5-0 was a much hyped top of the table clash between the two best teams in the league at the time. The two don't even compare.
-
I'd laugh at the absurdity of the post, but I do feel for you for taking such a completely insignificant result so seriously. Chin up mate, things will get better.
