Good enough as back-up, nothing else.
-
I knew you would find it.

Jonas started the move for the 3rd when he was almost in the right back position. Edit, It might have been the Sissoko miss when he skinned Cole.
-
I'll stand by what I said until I see it again, it looked to me as if Ba dipped his head after Coloccini had decided to go for it.
-
No chance, Coloccini never took his eyes off the ball and Ba dipped his head into an area where he was in danger of getting a kick.
-
What a goal Jonas.
-
Jonas never hides, he's always showing for the ball and always tries, even when things aren't going well for him.
-
Back to his crossing he hit a brilliant first time cross today which was his into the middle at pace when he didn't have time to think about it.
-
He crossing could be better, he gets into good positions then seems to run out of ideas.
-
I’ve seen him compared to Patrick Vieira and I could see the resemblance today, even if his role was slightly different. Same build, same work rate and he controls a game in the same style as Vieira with his pace and power.

It's got to be said that for 70 minutes today, we were brilliant. Our movement was top class and we almost always had a pass on and I can't remember being able to say that this season. When we had the ball we shielded it as if it was made out of gold instead of treating it like a time bomb. We were also excellent at breaking with speed and precision, add to that we looked as if we could have played another half instead on ending up looking as if we were at deaths door. The atmosphere was quiet at times while also being brilliant at other times and we were still singing 5 or 10 minutes after the match had finished. With a bit of luck we’ve turned a corner with the 3rd goal because our players are more than capable of winning games and they'll get plenty of confidence from this win.

He's already surpassed my expectations, I knew he could play a bit but I didn't expect that he would put in the amount of work he's getting through.
-
I though that he'd screw up with his half time team talk again but we came back from it if he did. He even changed the game in our favour when he brought Marveaux on because I thought Marveaux gave us something different going forward when we could have settled for the draw. Well done Pardew, you've shown some balls and we've benefited from it for a change. He also picked Taylor and Jonas and both paid off.

We should get done for theft.
-
Is what you meant. Did we lose to Villa? Chelsea aren't Villa.
-
exactly.....at least attacking options on the bench Those options would offer us far more on the pitch.
-
Bottling bastard strikes again.
-
Apart from the options being better, of course.
-
Drop Taylor for Yanga-Mbiwa, Perch for Anita and Jonas for Marveaux and I think we'll have a chance. As for Ba, I hope he gets the same reception that Owen was given.
-
You're right, he never does any of those.

He can cross, he can pass, he can shoot and he can run. He's going through a bad patch and he'll come through it. I don't think any of our players have played in as many different positions as Jonas has for us and I'm not surprised that his game has suffered for it. He puts loads of effort into games, even when things aren't going well for him. His crossing is not great, but it's improved 100% since the early days. I've said this a few times in this thread already, we've got to the stage where we've outgrown Jonas now. He should be replaced by a player who can provide quality service, but the players who can do that such as Marveaux don't put in anything like as much graft, or help out when we haven't got the ball. That's why Jonas is still going to be a vital member of the squad for at least this season. There will be times when we need those qualities. Jonas wouldn't be in my first 11, at the minute he isn't keeping anybody better out of the team.

I love it when Krul dives for the odd ball, he's brilliant. Happy?

We need to see Debuchy getting forward more to get the best out of him because that's his strength and that's where we'll see that he's an upgrade on Simpson.
