would be very good up top on his own if he got support, thats whats lacking, no one else in the team at present has "gettin gin the box" as part of their natural game. including gouffran when he's not playing up top himself. He doesn't have the first touch, physical presence, pace, aerial ability or control to be effective up top by himself, not unless you've got two forwards working right behind him and willing to get infront of him at every opportunity, hence the advance 433 comment. If only he had one stand out ability I mentioned he'd be effective even in our current plight not relying on others to bring him in to the game. He's an all rounder with a poachers game, everything about him screams don't let him be the 1 in any formation. Problem then if we get Gomis is I think Gomis & Remy will make a better partnership in a 442. i think we have confused "up top", i mean in the box for which he has everything, just needs a little space that would be created by the oppo defenders having more than just him to think about. To be fair he was a very good prospect back then. It was around four years ago so he was 18? 19? and performed very well when called upon in the Championship. English + teenager + performing well in the championship are good ingredients for a future star. He's one of those cases where his career has gone down the drain because of poor attitude (toward both football AND the law).

Think that's a fair assumption actually, although Cisse aside none of those deals have ever come off. I definitely think we're as tight as we can be on wages, agent fees, etc. and that we'll know pretty much exactly what we can afford to do window-on-window. However, as you say if something popped up to us that we could make work if it meant going outside of the pre-planned limit then they'd go to Ashley for the green light. January was that sort of thing, but was a bit of an anomaly due to our precarious position in the league. I think there is a bit of an issue where after a season or two of highly successful, uncontested scouting (Cisse, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa) other teams now monitor our transfer moves quite a lot and compete for our signings. This causes problem when our approach to transfer negotiations are always getting the right price regardless of how long the negotiations take. Sometimes we need to have enough sense to offer that extra bit of menial money (1 mil or so) to get the transfer across the line before other teams get involved and the market value for the player rises.

Had it for around 6 months but quit my subscription in a period where there was only around 1 video a month (bar match highlights which is expected). If they're charging as much as they do they really need to step up and match what other clubs offer.
