There was no need at all to take the captaincy off him. Was an odd decision that time, seems so so wrong now. Very similar to Danny Murphy TBH. Always found it ironic that Liverpool let Murphy go, in the last 5 years he would have walked into most Liverpool teams.

Was one of my favourites TBH. Really like the way he uses the ball. If a manager can get someone with an engine alongside him, he will be a good player for any side IMO. Interested to see who he joins, Villa perhaps.

Those saying it's a sidewards step are wrong. McLeish is a very poor manager, compared to Lambert. He will find it almost impossible NOT to improve Villa from where they are now. McLeish has played the sacrificial lamb in this one, he's dismantled the house that Marty built. Now it is Lamberts chance to rebuild it. I suspect there will be some serious investment from Villa too.

It does seem as though one of two things is happening; 1. We are starting to make our moves on players, with Clyne and Debuchy both being options for right back. 2. We are actually after both players, Debuchy as first choice right back and Clyne as a youngster who can play in a few positions.

Think its unfair to say Norwich were a defensive side this year, they put enough past us at home. Don't mistake defensive with organised. Lamberts going to be a very good manager IMO. As someone else said, he has a touch of the fergy about him.
