He is a player i think Hughton would try and sign, however there are alot of reasons why it won't happen.

Bloody decent line up from hughton. Few positive changes, shocked that ameobi has been left out.

Don't think Butt was that bad the other day but i still wouldn't play him over a host of other players.

If Carroll and Shola have a good game today, it could shape the rest of our season. I don't think any defence in the league will have an easy day against those two, ironically i don't believe either are good enough for the league above.

Don't like him but he is clearly better than anything we've got in central midfield. Correct answer IMO. At the time (when he left) i was his biggest critic but i can't help think he's the sort of player we need to give our midfield some much needed life. The only reason i suggested it is because i don't see him getting back into the Spurs side next season, however i doubt he would want to come back here or most would want him back.

If we got promoted, what would people think if we re-signed Jermaine Jenas? *Can of worms at the ready*

I worry that if he had a few bad games in the prem, then the crowd would get on his back very quickly and he would lose his confidence again. However, it would be ashame to replace a player who has built up alot of confidence and understanding in the last four months for someone who may not be any better.

Good point about his value, often gets overlooked. Should he not perform in the next year or so we could ship him off for the same price, or even loan him and make a profit at the end of it.

I'm shocked that anybody rates Lovenkrands over Carroll. Personally, i think Carroll is the biggest handful we have (even if there are question marks over his attitude) and Shola's goalscoring makes him undropable. It's about squad building, not selling players who are performing for the club. If there are doubts over whether he can cut it in the prem (which there are), then we should be looking to sign other players before selling the current crop, who are just starting to build the trust back. Colo's a competent footballer with a decent brain but lacks in the physicality battling side of being a centre half. I say lets sign other players who can compete for his position.

For me, his shooting is none existant, his passing average at best but his ability to up the tempo of our game when it has gone stale and "long ballish" makes him a prize assest. After all we don't need anymore quality down the left as Enrique is enough

I don't see anything wrong with his physical ability or his technical ability. As always with young players, his future success will be determined by his decision making both in an attacking and defensive sense. I think we would be stupid not attempt to sign this lad for next to nothing, ready for next season (hopefully in the prem). One of the biggest problems newcastle has had in the past is not having a big enough squad.

What i like about him is that he doesn't really have any flaws, he's a natural in his position, quick, strong, decent on the ball and likes to get forward (although is restricted in our current set up). I'd try and sign him on a very cheap or a loan until the end off the season (by which time we could get him on a free anyway).

Amady Faye as a premiership midfielder? Stoke aren't doing bad. I also seem to remember most on here don't rate Milner, Duff etc, better than our current bunch. I believe we need a ball player alongside him but i suppose you could sign Gerrard?

I think Pancrate's pace down the right could provide space and alot of crossing chances for Taylor, if that is the case Carroll and Nolan could cause loads of problems.
