  1. You could put the exact same accusations against Gerrard in an England Shirt.
  2. Karma. Drogba being sent off and Terry missing a vital penalty. Loving it. Glad that both Ronaldo and Lampard scored, both been (are) great players for their clubs and it may have been their last games for them. Nice to sign off with a goal. Also pleased for Giggs to score the winning penalty. John Terry mackems.gif
  3. Low door frames at the training ground, I hear. nah, bobby said we had the best door frames in the league he meant goal posts. you know what he was like It was a few years ago now though. We may have bigger door frames than most clubs, but other clubs have better door handles these days. Its a catch up scenario for us again I'm afraid
  4. He was always meant to be an interim chairman. Part of the reason for the '3 Headed Beast' we have now in terms of J,V&W is due to Mort not being 100% comfortable in some of the chairman activities - particularly in negotiations. No great surprise, and when he does go I think he can hold his head up fo what has largely (although not 100%) a good job well done.
  5. I wonder how many sentances it takes the Sun to make a reference to his brother tomorrow
  6. I don't think so, no. Innocent until proven guilty. Should have clarified! IF he is found guilty of twatting Dabo one, will his conviction for assault be taken into account in any sentance as the assault occurred after the inital ABH hearing?
  7. So can this ruling be taken into account for the ABH seeing as the initial ABH hearing was before any of this happened?
  8. Was hoping for 12 months. 6 months gets him out anytime between August and November, meaning we'll get excuses of 'Barton's back by christmas' if the transfer plan goes tits up. Got to add another 3 months onto that though to get him match fit. If it was 12 months at least we'd know we would have to go without for a season and plan accordingly. Still got the Dabo ruling though!
  9. They all look the same don't they. Er... Wasn't aimed at you, just the way everyone seems to be the new ... Sorry for the confusion!
  10. Some friends of mine, who's spurs-fans, can't stop talking about how much dough they got.. They will make that money back when they sell Berbatov anyway. Not if they start offering him around other clubs, if the likes of ManU get a sniff that Spurs want to sell the price will be dampened abit
  11. Mine just said meow. Useless ball of fur
  12. True. Transfers don't work like they used to anyway. If you buy someone you generally pay the balance of the transfer over the period of the players contract. Michael Owen being an example. For Michael Owen we are basically paying 208000 Sterling per week if the figures are to be believed. So its entirley possible aclub like Portsmouth could afford to do that with Campbell. It's no different to him being on 50k per weeek with a fee of 5m. Think you are confusing paying for a player and recognising the cost of the player in the accounts there No I'm not. Alot of transfers are conducted like that. Real Madrid still owed us money for woodgate when we got Owen so they knocked it off the fee. Edit: Also I believe you are talking about player amortisation which is not what you said. Each year you have to estimate the depreciation on the players value. I hope to god you are not an accountant, fundamentally wrong I'm afraid

  14. or so at least 2 folk on here reckon FYP
  15. I'm sure the FA would have something to say about that one!
  16. ITK!!!!!!!!!! I've just been told that Emre's agent has rang up A Oliver to ask for Ashley's yahoo email address!
  17. I've heard similar, but not quite so black and white. Big money will be spent on younger players only, though older players will be signed if they are available for lower fees and aren't looking for a massive payday (so Dunne would be considered but Henry not etc) i've no problem with it either, you? get on with it i say...should have been going on like this for years The policy is good, but if it stopped us signing someone like Rio or Terry for example because they are 30 or approaching it then I'd be peeved as they would aid the deelopment of the rest of the team. So in prinicple I'm behind it, but I hope there's flexibility for exceptional cases

  19. Eh? Ashley/Mort spoke to his agent in Jan - would only come if we signed some big names first
  20. There are no figures available for the 2007/8 season (which as far as the club is concerned doesn't end until the end of June). However, according to this link posted ealier: http://www.newcastlefcweb.co.uk/Latest-Newcastle-News/Newcastle_United_finances_laid_bare_.php "The clubs wage bill was £62.5m, up more than £10m from 2006, due to the signing of Damian Duff, Obafemi Martins, Joey Barton and David Rozenhal. That means 72% nearly three-quarters of the money earned by the Magpies is shelled out in wages. Experts say businesses should have a wage bill of no more than 50% of revenue. And the situation could have been even worse had the FA not paid £6.7m in compensation to United after the £17m striker Michel Owen was injured." In other words, if the club had not been receiving compensation from the FA, the wage bill for the 2006/7 season would have been 80%. Given the additions to the squad made by Allardyce, I have no doubt that the wage bill for the 2007/8 season will be even higher. The only question is whether revenues have risen faster. 80% does look realistic... You can't apply the 50% rule to football clubs imo, any business of this nature (and most service providers) are very labour intensive and wages naturally account for more than this. They have minimal stock in existence so to speak so can (and need to) have a higher wages:turnover ratio
  21. Hopefully Bristol, would then be able to get to Premier League games within 2 hours from Swansea! Also for any natives coming down, direct Sleazy Jet Toon-Bristol (an hour) and only a bout 5 miles to the ground from the airport
  22. Well that ban on speaking to the press lasted a long time!
