Llambias: sale stories are all utter nonsense
Colos Short and Curlies replied to a topic in Football
Ashley is in it for the long haul, was told today he has been having a good laugh about the stories all weekend (my boss is mates with his chief purchaser (Pete somebody)) (disclaimer - no one in their right mind would turn down say £500m for the club but Mike is definitely not looking to sell) -
mackems.gif Yeah right

Jonas Gutierrez signed from Mallorca on 5 year deal

Tevez is hard running but has skills. From what i see, Jonas is like Emerton. Hard running and do the simple things right but do not expect him to a flair player like Ginola or Robert. I say he is like a bigger version of Milner with (sad to say) less skills which is not really inspiring. Think he will fill in as one of the right/left backs if needed cos his workrate and defensive qualities are his main plusses. Hard running, quick, decent cross, lack of silky skills. Sounds like a Gillespie type to me -

Obviously haven't seen this thread then -
Anyone else get the feeling from the agents comments that not one formal bid has been made yet for AA?

Llambias: sale stories are all utter nonsense

Apart from an private equity firm that deals in sports (mainly broadcasting) saying they were approached, there is no proof what so ever. Had you heard of said media firm before Friday? Lets say they want to move into the British market. What better way to get your name into the mainstream press than talks over 'buying' a football club? Even if Ashley denies it (again), their aim is accomplished -

After reading that I expect some on here to take it all in and use it against the club. How does the phrase go? "no smoke without fire"? mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif Thats some conflict of interest in the Bin Laden household. One puts up buildings, the other brings them down -

They claim that someone offered them the club, that doesn't mean it's true. Again, why would they lie? To get their name into the British domain for future plans? We;ve already denied it, not going to do it again so a perfect media opportunity for a media company me thinks -

Just look at his appointments so far at a director (various) level. All people either known to Ashley or recommended to him by friends. Look at the strategy he has for taking the club forward. Its a long term project. Any mong with half a brain cell can see this, its not the type of structure you put in place to make a quick sale. Signing Henry, Ronaldinho and Deco would be. -

Unlike the sun to run a Toon story without mentioning that Oba is going to Arsenal -

Just to Gatwick isn't it? Another one more of Ashleys evil ploys to move the Toon down to London -
Spurs action since Jan Woodgate in Anton maybe in Kabout maybe out Modric in Possibly Crouch in Possible Bent out Possibly Berbatov out Possibly Keane out Gomes in Robinson probably out. Are they actually any better off based on players defineitely in and out, and would they be stronger or weaker if the 'possibly' all came of?

To be fair to MJ, iirc correctly he put a sizeable wedge on Roeder becoming manager and ended up in the Caribbean or somewhere on the back of it

dunno about the rest of you, but I hope he does this for us! Want to see a black and white one tbh -
And potentially losing Keane, Berbatov, Robinson, Defoe (from Jan). Are they really any better off?

And I say Hey Hey Hey Hey.

Hmmm... he did say he had too many other committments to take the Blackburn job. If I drank tea the tea leaves would be moving. (load of bollocks imo anyway)

If this is a massive thread, what is the Arshavin one?

As long as its not 5:15 I'll be happy. Would rather Sunday 4pm, but I can't see them leaving the current champs and their successors until then

We'll give em Alan Smith!

Obviously not on Keegans list either

So, Is Ashley Struggling To Shift ST's?
Colos Short and Curlies replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
If ManU had not rejigged their finances just to sign Rooney (i.e. Ferguson knew he couldnt miss out on him), we would have landed Rooney. At the time, Everton were your bog standard lower mid table team with no money and no indication of moving forwards. IMO they had nothing but a dirty side that kicked lumps out of the opposition team, although thats easy to forget now that them and e.g. Blackburn have moved on and play decent football. Right now we'd look back and think Rooney wouldnt move because it would be a sideways step, but at that time we were still a club that had recently been in the CL, we were still in Europe having just finished 5th, and we still had some star players in the squad - i.e. it looked like we merely had a blip as all sides do. Hence, we'd have been a sizeable step forward over Everton at the time. On top of all that, you have the fact that we'd have offered ludicrous wages that even now Everton wouldnt be able to or want to match, just as we did with Owen. Hence, if ManU werent in the picture (as they had led everyone to believe) and the choice was between moving to us on big wages and playing alongside Shearer et al, or staying with Everton for another year, I think he'd have moved, and therefore I dont see how it never would have happened. never would have happened 'cause manu would NEVER have not signed the lad, they were always gonna do what it took to get him, our bid just forced their hand (i take it you've heard the kenwright/shepherd rumour) - BUT in the other universe where ferguson misses out on the third english footballer who is the best of his generation then yeah, perhaps we might have got him but if you think it was possible for even a second you're mental - i'm sure i even remember rooney saying he'd never have joined the club anyways after the event get a grip man No Rooney has said he would have joined. He would have gone anywhere to leave Everton (once a Blue and all that.....) at that point. FWIW the Rooney deal was genuine and it was a close call that he went to ManU (I was auditing at Old Trafford at the time of the signing).
