  1. Yes! Both goals at the Gallowgate end. Gazza scored a trademark FK and Beardsley (if memory serves) jumped between 2 Everton defenders and slammed it in. It's nearly 40 years ago so memory might be playing tricks. We were beating them 2-1 and they got a late pen.
  2. Was that the 2-2 game? Brilliant match that, Gazza and Beardsley fantastic
  3. Yep those plus West Ham was a canny game early on but things didn't pick up until the last few games after Ozzy took over. October through mid-April was just depressing, loads of 0-0s and home defeats as well, games where you honestly wondered why you were there. Probably a conversation for a thread about overall seasons. Other than 88/89, 90/91 takes some beating for worst season ever. Pure boredom.
  4. That's a good one. Honestly, i've seen some dreck at the Toon since first going around 83, Rob Mcdonald and Frank Pingel stand out but that Moran performance against Wolves was genuinely and easily the worst center forward "performance" of all time. He was literally stumbling around on the pitch. This lad was a pro with Spurs, not some fat lad that won a competition to play for a few minutes. That 90/91 season was pure dross, loads of shite home games.
  5. Not sure if mentioned. Paul Moran who came on loan from Spurs around 91. Apparently, Gazza took him out the night before we played Wolves at home. He played the next day still clearly half pissed, trundled a shot from about a yard out against the post that most people's grandad's could have scored, dreadful game finished 0-0 and he was hooked early never to be seen again.
  6. Liked Benny a lot, another from the 89/90 squad who deserved a promotion instead of that fucking awful Sheff Utd team or bloody sunderland, promoted from 6th because of the Swindon scandal
  7. Spawned one of the better back page headlines i've seen in Mirror Sport when he initially turned us down over wages "It's Paul Twitson"
  8. Same, apart from Quinny getting a late late equalizer in a shit 1-1 draw. That was probably the nadir of Fereday's time at the toon and that's saying something. He was Obertan before Obertan was even a thing.
  9. Another gem from 89/90. Wayne Fereday. Anyone who was at Oakwell to watch him and Ranson attempt a 1-2, only for the ball to just roll out of play to the utter scorn of the away fans hasn't lived.
  10. Mark McGhee. He was the lesser light of that front two with Quinn but had real skill and scored some fantastic goals. Have a bit of a soft spot for that 89/90 team after the shite of the prior season's relegation.

Think we have a Palace fan who contributes occasionally, wonder what his take on this is and what the word in general might be locally Edit - @Palace fan probably
  12. Excited by this lad like, his development looks amazing. I love a good LB, gives so much balance and so long as his defensive nous continues to improve, that alongside his passing range gives him great versatility. 28m could be a relative bargain. I remember summer of 92 when we signed Beresford from Pompey, he transformed that side of our team.
  13. The thought of replacing Isak with someone like Sesko who looked like a heap of steaming tripe at the Euros (small sample size granted) fills me with dread. Isak guarantees 20+ goals every season, health permitting. He's dynamic and deadly, think we've barely scratched the surface with him. The only central striker I can think of who I could see coming in and doing close to as well would be Osimhen and it's highly debatable if we could attract someone like him without CL football at any rate. Think Isak is top 5 in the world tbh and got him at an amazingly opportunistic time and, with hindsight, at a bargain price really.
  14. What a hopeless post, every daft cliche in the book
  15. Shady howeh man. Chelsea just sold physical buildings and their own women's team to themselves and you're saying our FFP deals were the shadiest? You make a few good points and the rest is just hypothesis, guesswork and hyperbole.
  16. 500 grand but free shipping thankfully
  17. He came across very friendly and relaxed with everyone in the back to training video that was posted, seems a lovely bloke and can't wait to see what he's capable of with a full pre-season
  18. Aye he was doing canny otherwise, had me convinced he was a long-time Toon fan
  19. Aye, tough nut to crack like. Most seem to manage it though. Who do you reckon we should replace the gimpy little worm with?
  20. They've brought some stunning craic to the table, you have to acknowledge that
