If Marlon harewood starts ahead of Nile Ranger the management want shooting !

It really came home to me last night standing in that shabby little end just how Ashley and his predecesor have so royally fucked up this great club. Sickening to think we are doing our bit. Our end was full and noisy as usual. We had seats allocation full also. yet there we were being taken apart by a club that we should be breezing past. 3 or 4 of the youngsters are not ready to step up as a group. However encouragingly I thought Ranger showed flashes of his potential again. He is some athlete. Krul will become a star keeper for someone I hope its us. Lua Lua has got pace to burn and tricks, we should use him. Pleasantly surprised with Taverner, he looks as if he could step up now. Confidence is a massive thing for these lads. they need to be given games to let it grow. It is working with Ranger and can for the others. However you can damage it if you play a team of them, we only started 3 regulars last night which was not enough. P.S. for pities sake Ashley go now, these fans dont deserve any more nights like these.

Part of it has to do with the fact he's on the wing tbh. A big part of it is that despite being blessed with footballing talent he has been and possibly still is a pisshead during his leisure time. Time waits for no man if you dont look after yourself.

Weaken up slightly! With Geremi, Butt and Nolan all in your 4 man midfield you should certainly achieve that aim.

While I am as pleased as anyone with the win I was alarmed at the risky substitutions. It was worrying that our management deemed it safe to go into the closing stages of the game with Nolan, Butt and Geremi all on the park together. (3 middle of the park players unable to run !) It was no surprise that we had to survive the Penalty appeal and the Smith last ditch scythe down in rapid succession. If the game had continued for one more minute we would have conceded as with any 2 out of those 3 on the field together any creative movement or effective closing down then ceases IMO.

The plurals in football make me laugh. When you come up against your Rooneys and Gerrards, who play for the likes of your ManUtds and Liverpools of this world. Why do they do that in football?

Its patently obvious the powers that be for the last 2 seasons have not thought of it though. Butt should never have pulled on a Newcastle shirt again after the defeat at Derby 2 years ago but carried on as the 'midfield dynamo' of choice right up until our demise. Do you not find that puzzling? I do.

What became more apparent than ever to me against Leicester was how obvious it now is to blood young, hungry, energetic players and finally get rid of the last of the has beens. Contrast Ranger with Geremi for instance. Geremi is so immobile he ended up a vitual passenger standing on the left wing getting in Enriques way more than anything in the first half last night, He will play one touch football as a link man if it is played to his feet but is never going to be a creative driving force in the team. Geremi in the side is like playing with 10 men IMO. 60K a week, just pay him off today and give a young player his place. He is a reminder to us all of the futile hasbeen signing policy which has both relegated and almost bankrupted this great club. Ranger was a breath of fresh air as he grew in stature and convidence as the match went on. Full of energy and running, he will only get better with more time on the field. I am sure some of the other youngsters can be the same. Build them up and bring them on!

None. you can watch it on the telly like mancs and Lpool hangers on. Its a pointless question. Some people may make an enormous effort just to get to one game. (400 mile round trip for me) while others live on the doorstep. No-one who follows Newcastle can be called a glory hunter because there has never been any to be had as far as I can see.. We should just accept and welcome all the support we get. While we are relegated we could be about to lose generations of upcoming fans.
