  1. What if Barnsley have Odejayi and Moore on the bench? What then, eh? Think your missing my point mate. Of course there are times, like United recently, where the bench has been very strong (Rooney, Owen, Carrick) but they would be replacing players who are of lesser ability than themselves. What I was trying to say is that its good to see that we now have a fairly strong 20 odd, any of whom could justify their place in the starting XI. WTF

    Football pet hates

I amazingly agree with maybe 50% of his views off football, and 0% actually ON football His hypocrisy on the subject of his beloved Everton is irritating. Yet the sh*tbag attacks anyone else (us in paticular for some reason) for showing the same bias due to loyalty ! He'll shriek Everton fans have been hugely patient (with the odd FA Cup to keep them warm) and attacking Newcastle fans who have NOTHING to show (yet still get bigger gates) ! He is a total hypocrite and a reason for hating the premiership. Born and bred in Chester yet supports Everton. Also he slags you lot off all the time as you rightly state. He is a complete arse. Nobody could take anything Parry says to heart, he is a WUM and shock jock just trying to get the phone lines humming. I think he is quite funny. Definitely not to be taken seriously.
  3. Excellent observations in this thread
  4. I totally agree. Sadly I think by not playing our best players up front we are about to come a cropper here. We have been just getting away with it so far.

    Football pet hates

yes, yes, yes! hate it. Don't mind this one so much, as it sounds mint when everyone singing it at an away match "Shall we sing a song for you" on the other hand Most moronic chant ever. No need Makes me cringe. Needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history as most of the stupid hooligan type chants have been.
  6. That noise came from a lad in the East Stand seats, right next to the corner of the Gallowgate. Not sure how old he was but I watched him strike up once and he took his false teeth out first.
  7. England are going to screw up yet again by taking an ageing keeper in James into the world cup. a young Shilton would never have been beaten by the "hand of god" and as for Seamans useless flap at the ronaldinho lob, hopeless. They both were past it and leaden footed As will be James IMO. None of the others have been convincing so why not Harper.
  8. Been there a few times to Metso Paper with work. they are now my favourite Hockey team. I had been told HIFK and Jokerit were the best but now I know better!
  9. Never understood the fuss over him. Steady one footed plodder at best. A continuity man only good for giving it to someone else who can make something happen. The sort of player that half the England team has always to be made up from. That is why we never win international tournaments BTW. Hope Liverpool win just to compound Givens shit week.
  10. Cloughie had finished at Forest when Van Hooijdonk did what he did. But I remember what he did to Teddy Sheringham when he upset Clough straight after buying him for Forest for a small fortune. He stuck him in the reserves for a season. Thats what we should have done to Given till he came to his senses or City coughed up >30M
  11. This. If he'd have been above board about wanting to go then I wouldn't have blamed him. The way he and his agent went about engineering a move away to City was bang out of order and it wiped out all of the goodwill he'd built up over the 9 years for us. He can f*** off. No sympathy for the snidey, duplicitous little shithouse at all. Agreed and in the process a keeper with a while to go on his contract, probably in the world's top 5 keepers was sold for a piddling 5 mill., due to him forcing the move..in real terms,we should have got twice that.Let's hope with a promotion Harper can sneak into the England squad for South Africa,as our keepers are hardly shrouded in greatness....wouldn't that piss Mr. Given off!! Got to say at this point that the fee we got for him was a f***ing disgrace. The inept twats who brokered his deal to City need shooting. To agree a fee of about £6m (in installments) with the richest club in the world for our best player is a remarkable feat of incompetence. I wish a plague upon the f***ing lot of them. In the same period they offered over 100M for KaKa so 6M for the premier leagues best goalkeeper while ensuring our relegation was an act of the greatest incompetence ever. No wonder Ashley is getting such richly deserved flak.
  12. Where was Keane in his world cup when the ball bounced in the 6 yard box. As I recall, he was back home sulking after storming out and letting his country down when they needed him most.
  13. My point is that we have a history of throwing good money at clapped out ones
  14. Successful football teams often have a mixture e.g. Sherringham at ManU I could not disagree more. The championship may not have the finesse in terms of skill level but it still has teams packed with hard working bust a gut athletes and that is the baseline attribute that you must start with to compete in football at these high levels. You must ensure this as a prerequisite. This enduring infatuation with past names and their lingering reputations rather than the real world of current form got us relegated in the first place IMO.
  15. Successful Football teams are packed with players of dynamic athletisism sustainable for 90 minutes. Not with expensive old men who have this in memories only.
  16. Too late, we could be outasight against teams like these if this lad was started regularly.
  17. Protesting at the Milburn entrance at 1pm will almost certainly unsettle the playing staff arriving for the game. The foriegn lads in particular will wonder when the hassle will end. January, they may start hoping.
  18. It has to be said that while we once again impressively and noisily filled the away end as usual last night. The paucity of our singing repetoire is beginning to show us up. 1/ "Your support is f***ing s***" what is that all about, here we are in 2009 spewing that at Sheff Utd fans who are as loyal as they come. 2/ "s*** ground s*** fans" see above. Ask yourself how much these two are going to help us retain the respect we crave as great fans from from rival supporters 3/ "get out of our club" this is fair enough but why the cockney zenophobia. NUFC has a loyal London based fan club, former players like Rob Lee and Warren Barton must weep not to mention our new upcoming star Ranger. Ashley isnt even a Cockney FFS. Totally embarrasing. 4/ the boot boy song, nice tune, but my god the lyrics, These were sung over and over again. We can do better than that. Maybe it has something to do with the fact we have not had much to celebrate for so long, it pains me to say it but you wouldnt hear that kind of dross from the scouses.
  19. Enrique was the best player on view. Also I was very impressed with Nolan last night. He seemed to have found his legs again. He was putting in a lot of running and chasing off the ball that I did not think he was capable of. Let us hope it was not just a one off. If he had been started in Butts position and Ranger had started up front I think we may have seen a lot more of the ball. We would not have had to fall back and defend our last third for so long. We could have won comfortably instead of scraping it.

    Is it just me?

He changed it last night. He put 3 centre forwards on for the last 10mns when we were keeping a 1-0 lead. His reason was to keep Harewood happy as far as I could see and we were annihilated during that time with last ditch defending and good goalkeeping saving us. He also started with Butt when Ranger should have started with Nolan in midfield instead of Butt. This showed me he was placating Butt. There can be no other reason for these baffling decisions other than to keep senior pros onside. Our luck will not last.

    Tamas Kadar

At last people seem to be coming round to the idea of blooding good young players into the side. Long may it continue. Footballing defenders are a rare breed. This lad is one of them. We dont need old head loan signings (Kishwotsename etc) when we have kids of this calibre dying to get their chance. Tavernier looks like he could step up also if required.
  22. We will have to stay top to stand any chance of keeping him in January.
