  1. We know that there is already money there, and if you add the £8.5m on top of that with the deal for Parker, that's some fair cash - and i wouldn't be disappointed to see Joey Barton come through the door. He's already a better all-round player than Parker, but the major plus point is in comparison, is that he actually has a defined role whereas Parker did not. He's a penatrative attacking midfielder with a lot of potential, and i can see the likes of Sam sorting him out and turning him into a very good player. He's not a whippersnapper but he's still young and he's got a lod ahead of him. I'd be more than happy to see him come in. £5.5m was a bit risky, until the Parker deal came about. Still, there'd be no harm in testing the water with a £4m bid or something. Still, what a start that would be. Barton, Viduka and Ben Haim all through the door for a combined fee of around £5m. So excited.
  2. Who's to say he is unfit ffs? He's a chunky fella, always has been. And last season, he certainly wasn't the 'fat lazy bastard' that everyone claimed to be. He's a stocky fella and that's what his game is based on - he is a big striker and plays like one. He's absolutely fantastic with his back to goal, holding up the ball, and bringing other players into the game - and we haven't had that for about three seasons, because Shearer couldn't do it anymore.
  3. Not surprised he's said it. I'd be quite surprised if he were to leave this summer, and i've said this from the start, because people just won't pay for him. He'll atleast stay this season, and see if Allardyce can re-group him and get his career firmly back on track. Stepping stone to a move in 12 months time, i would have thought.
  4. Chelsea sign Sidwell. Man Utd sign Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson.
  5. Taylor's probably the key player in the first eleven that needs the most help, etc. Giving him the captaincy would daft because, as TT says, he needs help in his own game before he can help others.
  6. Given would make a shit captain, cant even marshal his defense properly nevermind a whole team. But you can't make a decent case for anyone else at the club for the captaincy, Nonsense tbh, mate! I'd have Nobby and Butt ahead of Given in the pecking order.
  7. Given can't even organise the defense very well tbh, never mind the whole team. Butt, plays very deep, sees the majority of the play. Very experienced and very intelligent player, who has simply come on in leaps and bounds. He's one of the mature heads in the squad, no doubt about it. He's Captain material. I can put up with that for a season.
  8. I'd be quite sad to see him go, even though i'm not his biggest fan. I like the fella and i like his courage and determination and whatnot, and i'd be keen to see what Allardyce could do with him. However, there's every chance that he'll continue to be a fairly 'nothing' sort of player for us, and an offer like that is too good to turn down. If he leaves for £8.5m, great. If he stays, that's fine.
  9. Very retro. I like that.
  10. If we're bringing Barton here, £4m at the absolute most. Won't be too gutted to see Parker go, though i'd rather he stayed. Let Allardyce find him a position.
  11. Hopefully, if it's a 4-5-1, Butt will be the one at the back, with Emre and a new centre-midfielder infront of him.
  12. Carragher's a better centre-back than King tbh. Not that he's ever done anything particularly special for England, Carragher, whereas King always seems to perform very well every time he plays.
  13. Hopefully Carragher will be deployed down the right-hand side, him being the only alternative to Neville.
  14. I reckon Derby will struggle aswell, they're just not a Premiership side at the moment. From an attacking point of view, they're alright and could be quite dangerous if they hold onto key figures, but i reckon they'll need atleast three new defenders if they're going to survive in the Premiership next year.
  15. Never heard of the fella!
  16. reliable source ? Crumpy has said stuff like this in the past which have turned out to be pretty accurate...
  17. Barton. Decent player with the potential to be a very good and effective attacking midfielder. Really would like to see him relish under some good man-management. At the right price, i'd definitely take a gamble on him.
