Kluivert scored 13. I was one who wouldn't have minded seeing him being kept on (i was naive), as i don't think he had the hurrendously bad season that some make out, but to say that he was better than Martins is a very, very surprising statement to make.
-
Now there's someone who isn't a fan of Martins. For one thing, atleast Martins has actually been on the fucking field for more than half the season. Tbf, Kluivert should have played lots of matches up front with Bellamy but shithead didn't have the balls to drop Shearer. True, but he didn't give a shit and he was always injured. The guy had undoubted class, Patrick Kluivert was one of Europe's best strikers for years, but he'd lost it. I that his past two seasons are merely proof of that.

A lot of people would be a clear improvement on Sibi. That's not really the point and it shouldn't be the criteria for signing players. If it came down to the last week of August, and things were looking grim, i'd take Fowler then. But not before.

I would rather him mull it over, agree a 1 year contract extension then stay. None of the big hitters are after him so i don't know why you're holding out hope for someone to come in and pay significant money for him. He won't go anywhere this season. But his price tag will go up. Said this before - he'll use this season as a stepping stone to a big move, at the very least.

Bramble/Distin or Campbell. I know which one i'd rather have and it isn't the former. Dunno if any truth lies in this, but i'd still love to see Sol Campbell at St James' Park.

Hmmmm....that's basically bollocks. Hyperbole. The rumour's more than likely to be a load of shite, but if it's the truth, then it's madness. £11m + £5m add-ons was what Kaka said.
-
We are a fucking joke and we will go into bankruptcy if we pay £16million for the likes of Darren Bent.
-
We don't know what was said or what happened so we can't make judgements.
-
Does anyone know the full story on that yet? Shepherd himself said it was a 'misunderstanding'. There's that story, that's inevitably been exaggerated, and then there's the countless pieces from Oba - sine day one - where he's stated how much he loves it here and how well he wants to do for the club. I think he wants to stay.

It doesn't 'have' to be Anelka, it's just one guy's opinion.
-
Anelka's a class player, my opinion of him as a player has changed throughout this season. But he wouldn't be a good signing. He's not getting any younger and he'd fuck off in no time. It's what he does. He left City after three seasons. He left Fenerbahce claiming he was 'bored', this after they qualified for the Champions League. He joined Bolton and he said in his press conference, i remember, something along the lines of "if Bolton get into the Champions League i might stay here a while...". they're in Europe and he wants to go, alledgedly. Atleast with Martins we've got a loyal player who sees his future, for the next few years atleast, with this club and actually gives a damn. Not denying Anelka's quality. It's undoubted. But it wouldn't be a good move.

It surprises me the amount of people who still believe that there is actually a clause. Shepherd's daft, but he's a businessman, and i honestly see absolutely no way that he would pay £17m for Michael Owen, and then include a clause that states he can later leave for half of that. It simply wouldn't happen! Owen probably wants away sometime in the future, although i don't think he is so inhuman to bugger off now. I honestly reckon that he'll use this season as a stepping stone, at the very least.
-
We can only start paying for players when the transfer window opens. No need getting restless yet, it's only May.
-
Leaving us with potentially ONE striker come July. (Oba's the only one that i reckon will definitely stay)
-
Who gives a shit? He was there and he put them in the net. If that's the criteria then Shearer only scored about 160 for us. Cos penalties don't count. I've criticised Shola in the past, but he improved immensely towards the back end of the 05/06 season, where he was leading the line*. He started 06/07 well too, but was a dead man walking by the time he was having his operation. And to say that Sibierski was a better player than him, is just simply wrong. *Key factor, he wasn't playing with Shearer
-
How in God's name? Shola played something like ten games, and scored 5 goals.
-
Big Sam would never play like that against Mna ure anyway, thats the beauty of a good manager, he will change his system and squad to suit every game. exaclt my point Was it bollocks. Anyhow, i've said enough Martins in the past so i'll just summarise. Decent player at the moment who did a good job last season against all the odds. Will become a better player in the next couple of years. Has his flaws, most notably his movement, but those sort of things can be improved. Still young, and has the potential to be one of the best attackers in the division. Needless selling him yet unless it is daft money. If we're ambitious then we hold onto our best players.
-
Was never really good enough, despite his goals in the UEFA Cup. But i'll remember him fondly, he was a bit of a cult hero at one stage, and a smashing chap. He was one of those mad signings and you can't really blame him, he'd been shite for a couple of years and it was a nonsencial signing. But he came in and got on with it. Credit to the guy and i hope he goes back to France now. Increases the chances of us getting another striker, which is very good.

Stop panicking. ... I'm just stereotyping.

It's generally the case though. Whenever i've been on a footy forum, and the post count has been there, on the page, underneath their avatar for all to see - the kiddies have competed to get it up to a high amount. Sad, but it is true. So as to be dubbed "World Cup Winner" and other such subtitles that post counts offer. I'm sure Dave or Bluf would probably agree with me on that.
